Dear FAILers,

Last time I wrote a personal post, I think I made some of you teary-eyed so I don’t write many personal blog posts here, but I wanted to celebrate our remarkable 2-year anniversary with you.

In September of 2007, we launched the company with our first blog, I Can Has Cheezburger?, and at the onset of the worst economic crisis of our time, I quit my day job in order to run ICHC from my living room couch. Cheezburger Network, which FAIL Blog is a key part, is now one of the largest blog networks in the world. And we’ll soon celebrate the release of our first FAIL Blog book. Thanks to you, our users, we’ve grown to more than 20 sites and now reach more than 11 million people around the globe every month.

Today also marks another milestone for us. When we began, we didn’t know what we wanted to be when we grew up. We didn’t even know who we were. We’re far from grown up, but we know more about who we are and why we’re here. We want to enable you to share your sense of humor, share what you find funny with each other and the rest of the world. We want to make you happy for a few minutes each day. This is now the mission of the Cheezburger Network.

We’d like for you to know us better as a company and as a group of people working hard to make your life a little bit happier each day. And we promise to share with you our successes and *eh hem* fails.

Hey Failers,

FAIL Blog (and I Can Has Cheezburger) is coming to London this Thursday (Oct. 9) at 7pm!

We’re attending a conference this week and thought, ‘why not meet up with our London friends?’

We’ll be at the downstairs area of the American Bar and Grill in the O2 Arena (yesh, it’s cliched!) on Thursday at 7pm.

Please RSVP in the comments with the words “I’ll see you there!” so we know how many Failers are coming. I should mention that the drinks are on us!

Based on your feedback, we made a small, but significant change to the layout of the site today. The square ad that appeared below the first post has now been moved to the top right corner. This means that posts will load faster and you can browse quicker.

Thanks to all of you, FAIL Blog has grown at a spectacular rate — we now rank #1,563 in the Technorati rankings. We’ll continue to read every single one of your 200+ submissions a day, even if we don’t get a chance to respond. So thank you for all your submits.

We’re working on a few new tools for you:
1) A new submission system for easy submission uploading.
2) Integration with the Cheezburger platform, so you can save your Favorites, keep track of submissions, etc.
3) Tools for editing your fail submission, so you can add arrows, circles, etc.

We’re looking for a fail shirt design. We’ve been getting requests for a fail shirt, but we have nothing to print on it. So, start up your Shops, drink some Brawndo, and send your fail shirt designs to:

We’ll change up the design of the site once more to a final version (minus a tweak here and there) — plus we’ll introduce the official FAILogo. (Or is that FAIL Logo?)

This template will let you do such unfail things as… 1) copy the picture to your blog, Facebook or MySpace, 2) allow nested comments (so you can flame the person directly), 3) express failure on pictures by voting and 4) search/navigate in many new ways.
