» 75 Failures in Communication

  1. AllGreatAllTheTime says:

Ho ho ho! = Ha ha ha!

  2. kindness says:

Read the recent Rolling Stone article on Skrillex….Meh…..

    • dissembly says:

I only found out what a Skrillex was couple of weeks ago, from a facebook friend complaining about Skrillex. In fact, I’m pretty sure the only times i’ve EVER read the word “Skrillex” was when someone else was complaining about Skrillex.

I get the impression that he produces music or something like that, but it reminds me a bit of when Paris Hilton became famous. We were all like, “What? Who? Where did this come from?”

Never seen either of them do anything but be complained about.

      • Captain Oblivious says:

Korn made a couple of songs with him which weren’t completely terrible… Though, I don’t think that was thanks to him.

      • Corey Gibb says:

Skrillex went from being an orphan and using his own talents to make music that has gotten him famous, it is in no way shape or form comparable to Paris Hilton.

        • dissembly says:

Paris Hilton is a metaphor, dude. I was attempting to communicate a subjective impression using an example with a more objective basis. THERE IS NO SPOON.

  3. Z-Kimyo says:

… so in this picture now means now but then means early 70s to late 90s?

  4. Sarge says:

    That’s unfair to dial-up modems.

  5. Fancy Cats says:

Now = all of history until we find something that vaguely matches.

  6. colin says:

Yes all those existed back then, but back then there were also some good bands unlike today

    • Freezerburnt says:

      You’re a moron.

    • FunEraLord says:

Over 60 bands on my list of favorite albums of 2011 beg to disagree. Just to name some: Blut Aus Nord, The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, Atari Teenage Riot, Gazelle Twin, Random (from Tucumán, Argentina), Kartikeya, Vildhjarta, The Book Of Knots, Boris (Japan), Mournful Congregation, Jenny Hval, SubRosa, Trance To The Sun, 6v6 (Les Byes Mystiques), *Shels, Tangled Thoughts Of Leaving…

  7. ROFL says:

Skrillex = A goth boy that could never quite figure out a real instrument or how to metal scream, so he figured the next best thing was to make really bad electronic music and then confuse everyone by his unusual Gothic style dress. I think the audience is less impressed than they are in shock.

    • KuroShiro says:

He was actually the singer for From First To Last at their start. And, while their first album was emocore drivel, their second album, Heroine, was quite good. He’s got some pipes on him and played some guitar and did a lot of the programming for the album. He’s since quit and become Skrillex.

  8. Stacey says:

does this absolutely need to be posted on every single subsection of this website?
I think this is the fifth time I’ve seen this.

  9. Fawfulster says:

Hanson and Cindy Lauper were/are better than the Jonas Brothers and Katy Parry respectively. Same goes for 80s!Maddona and Lady Gaga.

  10. Skrillex fan says:

Actually almost everyone I know likes skrillex and he also doesn’t dress badly so keep your opinions to yourself!

    • Telamo says:

…Keep your opinions to yourself? That is a terrible thing to tell somebody to do. Burn in hades, you goth preteen maggot.

      • dissembly says:

Keep your opinion to yourself, Telamo.

      • HeavyMetalManiac says:

High five, that’s the stupidest thing anyone could ever say in real life and the internet “keep your opinion to yourself” Nice choice of words too, “preteen maggot” hahaha high five!

    • Outback Jon says:

“Almost everyone I know likes skrillex” says an awful lot about you and the people you hand around with.

Most of what it says isn’t good.

      • MittRomney says:

        *hang

I just wanted to point out how pretentious you sound, good sir. Please, you sound very condescending. Tone it down a little bit.

        • ohdear.... says:

Actually, I think ‘hand around’ may be accurate if it is a euphemism for circle-jerking….

And he wasn’t condescending; he never said something which seemed superficially kind, but with a subtext of superiority (seeing as you like correcting people in an ironic, hypocritical sort of way).
          -
          …he just insulted him.
          -
And why would his opinion be any less valid that the first guy?
          -
‘Skrillex fan’ get to act like a butt-hurt hipster fanboy
‘Outback Jon’ gets to insult him
you get to patronise ‘Outback Jon’ while claiming it is referential to his own behaviour and thus validated,
…and I get to be a total d**k and break your balls for it.

          Welcome to the internet.

    • daSkeptik says:

So it’s OK for you to voice your opinions, but it’s not OK for anybody else to voice theirs? How about you just concentrate on getting your balls to drop, and let the adults talk.

  11. Skrillex fan says:

Sorry that was aimed at ROFL

  12. Dr. Tran says:

This is like the 5 time I have seen this today come on Memebase

  13. deadlegendary says:

    100% accurate

    • daSkeptik says:

Uh, no. Whether or not you like Skrillex doesn’t matter, modems weren’t musicians, ever. There is plenty of horrible Synth music from the 70′s and 80′s you could compare his noise to and stay on topic.

  14. Lute says:

I’m ..(cough).. older… and I actually get a kick out of Skrillex … maybe it’s the Cory Feldman doppelganger thing…

  15. booga373 says:

Why isnt fail blog up there? before it was a funny site, and now it isnt…

  16. Starstruck says:

I think I danced more with my dial up modem.

  17. xcarex says:

The only thing on here I have an opinion about is Hanson. They continue to be excellent.

  18. loki says:

Hanson = Jonas Brothers? is men = douchebags.

  19. Joe Dollar says:

Humph…Chris Brown wishes he was as epic as Turner.

  20. HeavyMetalManiac says:

Why are Madonna and Cyndi Lauper in the same page as lady gaga and justin bieber..and the jonas brothers…i can see the comparison between skrillex and the modem but seriously putting gaga as an equal to Madonna? And perry to Cyndi? Come on man, thats just plain offensive.

    • ò_o says:

Hmm, let’s see, what makes Katy Perry comparable to Cyndi Lauper:

      - wears shrill, frilly outfits that hurt the eyes
      - has a high pitched voice
      - had a huge hit with a taboo breaking sex song (“I Kissed A Girl” for Perry, “She Bop” for Lauper)

Not to forget that back in her days, Cyndi was decried by many “real” music fans to be nothing more than a fake wannabe with no talent or artistic integrity what so ever. Well, as time showed they were dead wrong about Cyndi. Can’t say the same will happen to Katy Perry, but who knows?

As far as public image goes, these analogies are pretty spot on if you ask me.

      • HeavyMetalManiac says:

Wow, you’re either Katy Perry or you really like her s**tty music for you to so articulately point those things out. Perry’s song wasn’t so taboo anymore i mean it being after the year 2000 and all…It was a really big and different thing in the 80′s though. Saying those analogies are spot on is like comparing a rock to a playstation 3, they share nothing.

  21. clemdane says:

Only an immortal vampire could make all of those comparisons.

  22. Kane says:

This “Dubstep sounds like dial-up” unfunny Internet joke has to stop. It’s like saying classical music sounds like a cat and a mouse running back and forth across a piano. Both analogies are dumb and extremely incorrect.

    • Aanikki says:

Oh, would you look at that. Somebody’s hurt her feelings on the internet :(

    • Not okay says:

I think most dubstep is garbage, but I do like Skrillex’s music. Primarily because he does have musical qualities in it that most other dubstep lacks.

With that said, whining about a joke on the Internet is idiotic. The joke is funny, even liking his music. Modems made screeching noises. Dubstep utilizes synthesized sounds that often rapidly change in frequency. It’s funny. Unbunch your panties and enjoy life a little.

    • HeavyMetalManiac says:

You’re either 15 years old or simply have a complete disregard for common sense and knowledge…for you to make such ignorant remarks. For starters don’t you ever use “dub-step” in the same paragraph with “classical music” they are WORLDS apart. If you had any idea of what you were talking about you would not dare insult classical music, the composers of classical music were and are geniuses, they CREATED music they didn’t stick pieces of already made music and slapped it together to make noise. The skill of those composers are way beyond what your mind can grasp, the com-POSERS of today are just a bunch of hipster idiots who want to fit in and be cool. You’re way off your rocker kid, think before you write.

  23. GiantSquid!! says:

    I have dial-up modem… on vinyl.

  24. Bruce Sky says:

    Soon:

    Taylor Swift = Britney Spears

  25. LMFAO=Black Eyed Peas w/o Fergie and Will.I.Am

  26. nargleberry says:

I’d opine that Lady Gaga is more like Grace Jones dipped in bleach.
