  1. MattH says:

That ball is nearly twice as big as the kid, like he’s going to catch that…

  2. Malkiot says:

It’s funny how the translational momentum of the ball was large enough to knock the kid (that should have a larger mass) over, even though it was a perfectly elastic collision.

    • Michael says:

How can you claim it’s perfectly elastic without audio to see if any sound was produced or any thermometers to measure heat change? I could go on…

It also doesn’t matter that the child has a larger mass.

Try to understand basic physics before incorrectly using it in a vain attempt to grow your e-peen.

      • Malkiot says:

Of course it’s not going to be perfectly elastic, it’s real life. It is however close enough to being perfectly elastic that we can use that as an approximation.

It does matter that the child has a larger mass, or have you never heard of the ‘conversation of linear momentum’?

Had the child been lighter than the ball, then the ball would’ve ‘dragged’ the child with it at a lower velocity, had they been the same weight then all the kinetic energy would’ve been passed onto the kid, if the kid were heavier by far then the ball would’ve just bounced off.

So before accusing others of not knowing their physics in your own vain attempt at getting an e-erection, make sure you know it yourself.

        • Joe says:

          You’re vastly oversimplifying.

        • M1cha3l says:

You’re assuming that the ball is not malleable (it’s inflated, so I figure it is) and that the impulse occurs exactly along the line of travel. A number of factors have to be taken into account here such the coefficient of static friction of the kid’s shoes, where the ball hits the kid and many others, not to mention the momentum of the ball in the first place.

Also, if you flick a bead at a standing domino of larger mass and hit it at the top, the exact same thing would happen. It’s not funny how the translational momentum of the ball blah blah blah.

        • Pookie says:

I think the kid could have just lost his balance :) I hope this settles your argument ladies .

        • jason says:

Simple way to solve this argument. step one take Malkiot out to a field. Step two find a ball proportionaly as large as it would be if Malkiot was the kid. Step three build some contraption that will launch the ball at Malkiot as fast as the ball we see in the video. Step four see if he didn’t fall over and play dead after the ball he was expecting to be tossed gently to him instead flew across the field to slam directly into his everything.

  6. Radtastic says:

I think thats a dummy of some sort, not a kid.

    • Talonvaki says:

Thank you! Yeah, I don’t think it’s a real kid. It falls too stiffly. I think it’s a mannequin.

    • Sgt Buzzkill says:

I can verify real kids do fall like that. Had an incident very similar to this on concrete with my nephew…

      • Untoxicated says:

About 4 minutes after watching this, amirite? And again at 6,7,8 and 9 minutes after.

Research is the key to everything.

    • brshk1 says:

It is a real kid. This is actually filmed at my former school. The guy who kicks the ball was my former history teacher and the kid is the child of my former art teacher. It is real. Trust me.

      • Mr. Nerd says:

Oh, OK. Now that you’ve stated it in writing on the internet, I will take you at your word and trust you.

That dude knew the kid wasn’t gonna ‘catch’ it- he did it on purpose….If its his own kid, its funny. If its someone elses kid- hes an ass.
