  5. I don’t always fap, but when I do, I leave the shade up

  6. NOT says:

    SOAD and Serj = Great

Lame “Memes” which just use Song Lyrics = lame

  7. Peter Beardsley's Orphan Potato Sanctuary says:

er yeah OK, so someone’s took a picture of the bloke from System of a Down, and typed out some of his lyrics. This is neither a fail nor a win.

    crap

  8. gurtol says:

I don’t always open for the Foo Fighters
But when i do i spend half the time talking about polotics

    • UhmmmK says:

I don’t always listen to System of a Down, but when I do, I think about world matters and social issues, as even their name tells you exactly what the subject matter will be about. Going to a System show or a Rage show and expecting them not to comment on politics or social issues is like going to a book club and expecting them to talk about T.V. shows. You are dumb, sir. That’s why it annoys you when people speak intelligently. Also, maybe look up the word politics next time before you try to make a lame joke, or just hit spell-check and prove you’re not absolutely retarded in every aspect of your sad useless life.

      • now read it again, with every comma replaced with the word, “M’Kay?”

      • Emetique Necrotica says:

Yeah, that’s all fine and good but people don’t go to concerts to have views crammed down their throats. You don’t have to be stupid to not want that, but just keep telling yourself that in order to make yourself feel superior.

“You don’t want to pay for tickets just to listen to a couple of millionaires making unnecessary political commentary between songs? You must be stupid!”. While System of a Down’s lyrics are about “world matters and social issues” it doesn’t mean everyone should expect them to go on a shrill political tangent.

Sometimes System of a Down fans are so easily riled up. Not everyone who dislikes your precious System of a Down is too stupid to get it, believe it or not. A lot of it has to do with delivery. They just happen to “deliver” their messages like theirs are the only ones that matter. I’m not sure I’d call them “radical”, but I’d definitely call them self-righteous and obnoxious.

        • Trent Fraser says:

Dude, what are you talking about. They get up there, they have fun, they play their music. SOAD never crams their views down your throat or tell you that their right and that you wrong. None of the songs even criticize people who don’t agree with what they are saying. So before you start talking crap about them how bout you actually listen to their music. I don’t agree with all their idea’s and i neither feel pressure nor guilt in their music. All that’s in your head.

          • Skrutz says:

            No, you’re wrong.

          • Devin says:

You need to learn a little more about the SOAD music, and what they’re lyrics mean. Holy Mountain in particular is a rage song against the Turks for the Armenian Massacre in WW1.

Their songs and concerts are loaded with hatred for Turks.

I’m not even saying it’s unwarranted, but it’s definitely there. To say it isn’t is ridiculously ignorant.

            • themacuser says:

they dont hate the turks…they hate their government
holy mountain is about how the mountains of armania were taken from them and it is now turkeys

        • pbodyrocker says:

^ BOOM! Spot on… and I like SOAD.

        • Dymex says:

If you go to a SOAD show, odds are you already agree with the message and are their partially at least because you like the music and the message behind it. There is a difference between cramming their message and simply stating it during their show with music that has the same message.

          • Emetique Necrotica says:

Isn’t the message present enough in their lyrics?

You’d have to agree with SOAD’s lyrics if you like them because, like most political bands, the message behind their songs are expressed so dogmatically and in terms of black and white that if you aren’t blindly nodding along with it in agreement that you’re the enemy. I may be reading too far into it, but their lyrics come off as smarmy and accusing.

That’s just the way I feel it is with most political bands, anyway. It’s why I generally avoid it. I’m typically moderate in my views and I feel that very few musicians can pull off political themes in their music without alienating who would be their fans.

            • Lime in da coconut says:

Yeah, I know I’d MUCH rather hear guys in bands raving about doing drugs, getting drunk until they puke, and banging hot chicks, non-stop! If I go to see a rather politically-oriented band, who is also very politically oriented in their interviews, I expect they’re going to speak politically in the shows, as well. And have fun at the same time, and play kickin’ music!

      • asdf says:

Funny thing, actually I’ve been to quite a few of SOAD and RATM shows and neither of them did talk about politics a lot. In fact, Zack (RATM frontman) didn’t say a word that didn’t belong in a song. I guess the “red star” banner and the sirens they played for about 2 minutes were statement enough for themselves.

        tl;dr:
politics is lame, trying to make people think isn’t.

    • Vain says:

Less than half of their songs are about politics. They sing about life. Unlike some bands, they choose to make their songs meaningful.

  9. Occifer says:

“grubablubablubablu ba” = “grab a brush and put a little ”

I don’t always hide the scars, but when I do, I fade away the shakeup…

  10. Skrutz says:

Nonsense lyrics, lack of vocal talent (or what some call an “original” voice), songs that are easy enough to play that I can learn them in my head, and a bunch of douchy fans.

    AGHH!

I’m glad they faded out so fast.

    • Vain says:

First of all, they are very talented. Don’t know what you are talking about there. Second of all, you must have vast amounts of musical talent,

    • Dymex says:

One, they haven’t faded and are still quite popular. Two, have you even looked at the drum line for most of their songs? While I’ll admit that some of the guitar work is fairly basic and simply fast, the drum lines can become quite complex. Oh, and if you’re going to call the fans douchy, try not to be such an insulting overzealous douche bag yourself.

      • Emetique Necrotica says:

Some people here aren’t really helping the image of their fans. It’s the SOAD fans on here who resort to personally insulting people for expressing less-than-positive opinions on their favorite band.

Popularity doesn’t matter to me, but I haven’t heard anything new by System of a Down in a while. Are they even still together?

I personally don’t enjoy Serj Tankian’s voice, but it’s really not so much the sound that drives me up a wall, but their delivery in their songs that annoy me.

      • Skrutz says:

Well, I say they have faded. I honestly didn’t know they still existed, but I’m obviously not a fan.

I take back the “douchy fans” somewhat, because every band has douchebag fans, to some extent. It’s just that the die-hard SOAD fans I’ve encountered are most definitely douchebags.

Still, I find their music pretty darn easy in general. And yes, I am a musician.

  11. Dblac74 says:

Im seeing SOAD tomorrow at soundwave in brisbane, so im stoaked to see this. HELLS YEAH!

  12. Bas Yuksel says:

Racist crappy band is racist crappy band

    • Devin says:

The Turks have no one to blame for themselves, since they still refuse to acknowledge the Armenian Massacre. It’s really almost as bead as someone denying the holocaust…

      • Emetique Necrotica says:

They have the right to be angry with the Turks responsible for the Armenian Massacre and the deniers, but to justify hating *all* the Turks for the ones who wronged the Armenians is no better than Americans hating all Moslems for the ones who bombed the World Trade Center or hating all Germans for World War II.

If System of a Down are as socially progressive as they believe they are, they’d recognize the holes in their logic.

  13. Tony says:

I was reading this when an SOAD song came on the radio. Awesome.

  14. themacuser says:

i was listening to system, then i read this and it made my day :3

  15. Shannon says:

  16. MrCorn says:

I only know about these guys because Brent Hinds punched the lead singer. And Rock Band 2.

  17. Turquoise Fishbowl says:

And I just happened to be listening to System of a Down when I saw this

  18. yomamasama says:

we don’t always need to evacuate the lightpost, but when we do, it’s all over

  19. That Guy says:

Serj Tankian for the ultimate win!

  20. zurichleader says:
