So, the LEGO Star Destroyer model is a Real Thing (for a mere $400) that I had no idea existed. Looks like I found a new way to burn a weekend!

Not a Star Destroyer, a Super Star Destroyer.
^^That
Specifically the Executor, flagship of the imperial star fleet and personal vessel of Darth Vader.
How can you differentiate between the executor and other SSD’s?
Because that’s what says on the Lego box:
Set #10221
Lego Super Star Destroyer (Executor)
Now don’t get jittery. There are a lot of command ships.
Congratulations on
1. Not saying what comes before second
2. A relevant comment
3. A correction that is correct
4. Being a Jedi Master (or Sith Lord if you prefer)
5. Profit!
Well, Star Wars Nerdism is the one thing that is taken reeaaallly serious in the webs and takes priority over everything else in the internet.
^^ truth
The Star Destroyer was only 300
yeah, like the first guy said. its a superstar destroyer, the command ship for the empire……..jeez guys get a clue.idiots………
This is the exact photo I was expecting when I went to failblog.org on my browser.
From what I’ve read about this thing it really does take a weekend to put together. I’d love to get one but spending $400 on Legos is hard to justify these days… or any day for that matter.
took me a day
I keep telling myself that, yet I keep buying their $200 flagship technic kits. Legos are nice in that they retain their value, and potentially increase if you keep the set together.
Haven’t we seen this before? Or is Failblog just beating us over the head with the same concepts again…?
It really ain’t that big a deal. I’ve went to the LEGO-factory in Denmark quite a few times, and they have these, like, all over! They don’t even seem to notice it. It’s just placed in the cornes and on the floor. hardly noticeable.
“I’ve went”, “LEGO-factory”, “It’s just placed in the cornes”… seriously?
Where exactly at LEGOLAND were all these, like, all over?
Show us: legoland.dk
Agree with intended provocation though; Star Wars is the biggest pile of sh*te ever….
WHO LET THA NERDS OUT!!?
Woof woof woof~
They have one on display at the LEGO store in Bellevue, WA. They also have a few other $400+ sets.

This star wars thing is awesome! #win
Meh, Lego models that require a lot of parts that are specific to that model are not that impressive. You might just as well get a custom kit that would be more ‘realistic’ and cheaper.
It’s when you make a Lego model out of just standard parts that it gets really impressive.
I agree.
I prefered lego from back in teh day when there were no/very few specific parts.
You can clearly see in this pic that the long grey pieces are just one piece. You could never really use them for anything else.
This kit can ONLY be used to build the Super Star Destroyer. That’s it. Nothing else.
The best bit of lego was building the thing in the instructions, then taking it apart and building something better. Then taking that apart and building 6 little things. Then taking that apart, mixing it with the pieces for something else and building something completely different.
I love Star Wars as much as most… but this doesn’t do it for me.
This kit is just like building a model. That’s not being creative. That’s learning how to follow directions. Easy directions. Lame.
This. Nothing impressive about being able to follow directions.
Check your facts again, the long grey side pieces are each made of more than 150 pieces, with most of them pretty regular Lego blocks.
Of course the major building sets can have some unique blocks, but a vast majority of this set are common blocks.
ps.: You can check the building plan on the lego website, and at the end of it is a list of all block used in the set.
Always be testing.

Go Norm, you can beat that cheater Will!
Pfft. I built one of those at work and it’s on my desk: http://twitpic.com/7avrqx
and the odds of the guy that has this has ever gotten laid.
I work for lego, I’m 18, not a virgin, have a life and I build stuff like this for my job… Oh and I’m english… I love being awesome!
We got one for my dad for Christmas, he LOVES Star Wars Lego.
In fact, they had it built in the window in our local Lego store.
