It was $6500, including TV when it first was available 4 years ago – and what does it have to do with lazyness, I don’t set up my TV every day, and most of us have on in or bedroom — just that w use up space and it’s an eyesore when not in used
Failbook keeping up with time fail
You sir fail at realizing the the genius of this invention. It is brilliant and like he said, takes away the eye sore and let’s you make room for other things.
Actually, the swivel looks like it puts added pressure on the joint holding it up (ie, when it swings to face us, it’s inertia tries to tip it backwards. It would just be easier to have it pop up the way it looks like it should, especially since you could just have it in a bracket on the horizontal top bar.
I don’t think anyone really cares that it stands up on its own as much as that paranoid twisting action at the end that makes it seem demonically possessed.
Dumb. Then you still have to wait for the TV to turn on…. I’ll keep my TV on top of the dresser or mounted to the wall over this useless piece of crap any day.
Swivel to demonstrate the thing is actually a TV (plus counterbalance factor, well thought out, darkeegan.) But my thought was, why have a $12,000 TV in such a tacky, rather small bedroom? Dissonance!
The swivel is a simple rotation. It would not change the balance in any way. It really does look as if it’s doing it to make sure the viewer can see the size of the TV.
if you check out the video in youtube, you’ll see, that it takes about 15s until the TV is up. I don’t really think counterbalance is necessary at that speed. so I’d vote for the demonstration reason.
If you can afford the thousands of dollars in remote controls and high-capacity servo motors this would require, you could also afford to enclose it in a “bulletproof” housing while it is tucked away. But that’s not even necessary; although I think I’ve managed to “break” wooden bedframes (more like slats holding up box spring came loose), I have never managed to put a dent in even a cheap steal bed frame, e.g. the ones they give away for free with mattress sets. Of course, if you’ve got a California King with a dozen people on it, Your Mileage May Vary… I’ve never had more than 3 people on my queen sized bed… (My daughter sometimes sleeps with us, you pervs! And actually, she does a lot more damage to bed frames by using them as trampolines than sex ever did.)
The top of the tv barely clears the foot of the bed when it is going up. Seems like it would be easy to mess things up if covers, pillows, etc… are bunched up down there as they frequently are when people are in it. Plus, what if something is on the floor? How about wires, cables, etc…? Constantly shift and tug on the HDMI cable plugged into the back and it is going to break something over time. There are lots of reasons why this is not workable.
How is this lazy? The bed is friggen made! Also, from the looks of it, you would have to keep it made for this thing not to f$%^ up on the covers at the foot of an unmade bed.
The entire point of the swivel is so that you can watch it from a different angle than in the bed. Duh.
And as for the overall reason, a newer piece of tech like a flatscreen doesn’t fit the decor of some rooms, especially if you are going for an antique look. This hides the cool modern gadget when it isn’t being used, and keeps the feel of the room.
I cannot help but imagine the amount of pi$$ed offness one would encounter if one was sitting on the edge of the bed and got bashed in the head by the upward swivel
Wow, this product is almost as old as LCD technology. I remember this one from years ago, before people figured out you could just wall mount it and hid it behind thick roll away picture frame. If i remember correctly the price on these was so ridiculous only reason to by one was to show off, also they tended to fail after multiple uses due to the strain on the motors.
How is this lazy??? Most TVs just sit on a stand, this guy rigged a whole motorized set up. Failblog fail once again, they are all too frequent these days.
How is this lazy? It’s more like pointless; you could just as well simply put the TV at the end of the room. Yeah, watching TV in bed is pretty lazy in by itself, but a swivel system doesn’t make it any more so.
WANT!

It’s probably more trouble than it’s worth. Less “lazy”, more “redundant waste of… everything that went into making it”.
You sir fail at realizing the the genius of this invention. It is brilliant and like he said, takes away the eye sore and let’s you make room for other things.
What, no fridge?
Why lazy? No lazier than having one mounted on the wall/ceiling.
And why the superfluous rotations?
seems to help counterbalance so that the tv wouldn’t tip forward when it swings up quickly.
Thank you, it was buggin me as well.
But it’s a simple rotation. It would not change the balance in any way.
You’ll notice it pauses unnaturally at the end. That’s from when they cut the footage because it fell off.

It was to show the camera, and the viewers, the television.
Pretty sure it was just showing off..
Maybe so that it can be seen from another room (bathroom)… I have my on an arm so I can do that at home….
just to show off
It’s just a little self-conscious about having its picture taken, is all.
The pointless pivot is making me laugh more and more the longer I watch this. So silly!
lol, I only clicked on the comments to see if any one said anything about that.
I don’t think anyone really cares that it stands up on its own as much as that paranoid twisting action at the end that makes it seem demonically possessed.
Not pointless. It was so the camera could see the television, thus showing viewers what is was.
oh, well then its a good thing they pivot… I never would have known by the shape that it was a tv..I would have thought it was a bicycle.
So the TV *knows* it’s being recorded? Contact your local exorcist!
Every time I see the “pointless” pivot, I think, “The f*** is that!?” and when it turns back, “The f*** is this!?”
I lol’d.
Dumb. Then you still have to wait for the TV to turn on…. I’ll keep my TV on top of the dresser or mounted to the wall over this useless piece of crap any day.
Repost of a repost
Failblog FAIL
Yo dawg, I heard you like reposts…
OMG, because NO ONE reposts on the internet!
Why does it twitch? lol…

Pretty damn pointless.
It’s not pointless if the point was to show the viewer the TV. Odds are it has a swivel option on the remote. It doesn’t have to do that every time.

does no one else bother that sex on this bed might destroy the tv? what a piece of crap

Quagmire has this setup. And when it turns on, it shows the view of the bed from a hidden camera.
Yes, that would be a particularly iggity version of gig!

Us older guys can last much longer without the need for chemicals.
For those who are interested, the song in his spam video is “Exotique, Soul Ballet” and can be found here.

shut up and take my money!!
I would love to get one of those installed.

you mean i can hit my wife with a tv and stay in bed. I want it now

(TF2 engineer voice) television, comin’ right up!
More than meets the eye.
Something similar costs around $14K.

Lol…. that TV would not last my Italian fury under that bed.
teach me you lazy ways master
….how is this lazier than already having a TV across from your bed, as many people do?
