It’s unny how my cat never touches any food container when I am gone for only a few hours. as if he had a build in clock that says: if she’s not back yet, she won’t be back in a while. PARTY!!!
To which I will get home and find the place looking like a beach resort during spring break, toilet paper and kibbles everywhere.
My cat has done this. She’s well behaved for the most part, but as soon as she smells some sorta nomnom that’s for her, hungry or full, she will f*$king rip the bag to shreds trying to get to it.
My Abyssinians do this all the time! Not sure how they know there’s food in a sealed packet, but they know, and they can bite those packets open with scientific precision.
Errr, surely this just means they weren’t calm before eating any of it? The fact there is so much left could possibly also mean that they then actually worked to calm the cat!
i’ve seen this happen with my mother-in-law’s cat, she’ll rip open one of those sealed treat bags, because she sees all of us taking the treats out of those bags, so thats how they know that their is something good in there
My guys always outsmart me. I couldn’t leave them out cause they’d chew through the package, so I made sure to store it in the cupboard. Then they figured out how to get into the cupboard. They haven’t figured out how to open cans yet, but I think they’re working on it.
My kitty was the culprit in this picture. Surprisingly I don’t think they calmed her any. The calming cat collar did the trick though. She had to get on the table (where she isn’t allowed) to get to these. I guess it is a kitty circus when I’m not around. I’m very happy some people got enjoyment out of the photo. As much as I wanted to scold her I just had to laugh when I saw the bag in this condition.
It’s a good photo! These things actually work really well for my cat (well, not the Petco brand, but the more name brand one carried at Petsmart). When a double dose of heavy tranqs from the vet didn’t put a dent in his crazy crying and clawing during a car ride, I gave him two of these and he was out like a light for 8 hours.
I caught my cat trying to do this to a bag of treats once, but I’d just clipped his claws. He was very frustrated, but it was hilarious to watch him try.
I had cat treats on the counter and because she was only 2 or 3 months old I thought she wouldn’t be able to get them. I left for an hour at the most and found the ripped open packet on the floor with nothing in it -_-
We have a plastic container with a cap similar to what is on a pringles can, and although our cat can’t get it open there are about 50 tiny bite marks from her fangs puncturing the top.
Introducing a second cat to our household didn’t go smoothly. The female did not want this 4-month old intruder to live with us. Fur flew. We actually forked out $38 for an electric diffuser of feline hormones “to reduce the general level of stress in all cats”. It didn’t work at all.
With time, they became companions. She taught him how to be less clumsy, he taught her better cat box habits. They both shred the back of the couch.
wanted to try these as my cat is an @$$hole (I love him, but he is a terror sometimes). Anyway these have now been recalled…just thought you should know.
That was a junkie cat!
that cat musta been freakin out! “wheres my Xanax!?!?”
LOL
Someone needs to check in to the Kitty Ford clinic.

Felix did this once to a bag of “natural” calming treats. It didn’t seem to help.
They learn to recognise after awhile that since food = poured from a package, package = food.

Or that ti’s a scent based calmer, not a treat perhaps?

I bought a book called “How to Train Your Pet Rabbit.” My bunny peed on it.

must have worked if there’s still some left . . .
my cats did not rip off their food container, but they ripped off the litter sand refill…..
Been there, except when my cat got into the package, she tried one & was like “oh WTF? It’s vegetable flavor!”
He needed his fix D:
I thought it was the human who did this trying to give the cat a treat. Some packets are pure hell to get into!
