It was never known as Electro-Industrial…dubstep was adapted from old school jungle and 2-step about 10 years ago, then people like skrillex recently decided to try and ruin the genre by making noises that sound like someone shoved a fog horn up their arse and put it over a beat

Guy. 2-step, jungle, dubstep, they all fall under the metagenre of electro-industrial. So, it’s all electro-industrial. Like how emo is alt rock, black metal, speed metal, thrash metal is metal, house and electropop is electronica, etc. Subgenre differentiating is pointless when the meta saves you a lot of time hassle, although dumbass hipsters claim there to be relevance with the subgenre for the sake of the illusion of superiority.
Hey cool. Since we are doing this, can we finally get rid of lumping acts into a genre based solely around which language they speak? Art-School, Asian Kung Fu Generation is alt. rock tyvm, most J-Pop is electronica, etc. Either that, or now all English musicians will be E-genre, and all Americans will be A-genre.

Dubstep hipsters:
Dubstep with the bass in an audible frequency range is too mainstream. Real Dubstep bass can only be experienced through a US military sonic warfare system at which point you will feel dizzy and throw up shortly before your thoracic cavity explodes.
To be fair, “you couldn’t hear it with laptop speakers” is really just saying “it has a bassline.”

Dubstep is such crap, and I’m sad that now it’s somehow considered legit and it isn’t cool to hate on it. In my day, you got to hate on anything electronica that happened after the ’80s, and had the agreement of your peers when ridiculing douchey European electronica. But now perfectly normal people with what should be a perfectly legitimate taste in music all ride your ass when you hate on dubstep – for absolutely no reason!
