Wanted to ask just the same question, for exactly the same reason. They may not be great, but why all that hate? Is it some U. S. vs Canada thing, maybe? (Sorry for the naïve question, but I’m from the other side of the Pond.)
Not US vs. Canada. Equal hate on both sides of the border. There’s actually been petitions in both Canada and US attempting to stop them from playing at a couple sporting events. I think they suck (it all sounds the same) but I don’t get all the hate either. Just listen or don’t listen ya know?
That I can respect. If you don’t want to listen to them, don’t. If someone does like them, then that is fine too.
If anyone likes nickleback’s music they are obviously either def of retarded because nickleback is garbage. They are the epitome of terrible.
I think some of the main complaints I’ve heard about Nickelback is that too many of their songs sound exactly the same. I liked them in their earlier days but these days it sounds all the same to me as well. For a while there was video going around comparing the music of two their songs and it was just as they said.
But, also KISS and Nickelback are two WAY different bands. To but them together as Rock and Roll just doesn’t seem right. For one KISS is heavy metal and Nickelback I can only see as alternative rock. KISS has also be around much longer than Nickelback and they should be in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but they aren’t. :/ I don’t think a lot of older KISS fans would be happy about this comparison either which is how I saw this post actually.
I agree 100%. I personally think they are good. Not my favorite band but they are pretty good. I don’t know why everybody hates them so much.
I think they’re just the latest target for a bored Internet. People will ostracize anything to distract from the hectic or dull nature of their own daily lives. Eventually it’ll fade away like parachute pants. I mean, when was the last time you saw a Jonas Brothers bit make the main page?
Do I like the band? Yes. Do I own an album or two? Yeah. Do I think every song they have is gold? No. They’ve made a couple I didn’t particularly care for. They have, however, made some really good ones.
Would I classify them as “rock ‘n’ roll”? No. Rock, yes. But rock ‘n’ roll is a bit different, though I can’t explain it. I don’t think anyone really does genuine rock ‘n’ roll anymore (at least, not artist/band that has formed in the last 10 years…).
Mr. Morbach you have no taste in music or probably in anything else. Their music is not classified as rock actually it is classified under garbage. Other notable artists in their genre are Kevin Federline and many many country music artists ha ha ha.
I dislike Nickelback, but to be fair, I hate most things played on the radio today.
That being said, I agree with there being better things to hate. Right now I can name at least five or six artists who deserve the same ridicule, but for whatever reason are immuned to it.
