  1. Haanzi says:

the correct biological term is “mothership”

  2. dessie says:

Oh dead people – lolz! Jesus christ.

  3. LalChand says:

This is not funny at all.12 peoples died and 20 are still missing!

  4. ad says:

Way too soon. Bodies are still being recovered. Not a laughing matter by any means.

    • Neoqpa says:

      Everything is a laughing matter.

    • BEEEEEEEEEP says:

From the few wise words of South Park “Either everything’s ok to make fun of, or nothing is.”

    • Yup says:

People don’t care about anything anymore.. obviously.. lol
I think it’s pretty bad to be making jokes about something that they’re still pulling bodies from, but that’s our world today.. If I posted a pic of a dead baby human and a dead kitten.. the kitten would probably have more of an emotional response because most people are basically devolving back to barbaric neanderthals lol

      • Bumblebee Tuuna says:

No it’s not that people are devolving. The majority of “people” are just hateful to things that annoy them in a way (mainly other people). People have more compassion for animals seeing as most animals only know how to follow their instincts and are for the most part innocent while still abused by, people. Most could care less about an unknown/faceless person who dies, but if it were a friend or family member that is usually when the compassion kicks in.

  5. This seriously needs to be removed…..funny is funny and this isn’t funny.

    • Dean Clean says:

how dare you try to tell us what’s funny and what’s not. To do so is tantamount to saying “this food doesn’t taste good” – EFF YOU! I think it’s delicious! So please, stop the humor fascism ok? thanks.

    • Iman Azol says:

At least now your mom can catch up with the sailors.

  6. Pinkie Pie says:

Yet another solid example of how the mods on this site have the maturity of 15 year olds. Hey mods, would you post this if your mom and dad were 2 of the still missing 20 people?

    Not funny.

    • MissJenna522 says:

If their mom or dad had died, they’d be on bereavement time, and therefore wouldn’t have been able to post it.

  7. The laughter says:

“What’s comedy? Comedy is tragedy plus time. The night Lincoln was shot, you couldn’t make a joke about it. You just couldn’t. Now time has gone by, and now it’s fair game. See what I mean? It’s tragedy plus time.”

    W.A.

  8. Eric says:

sooowwww…. its ok to laugh at the fact there are at least 10 dead bodies in the mothership?? cause if thats so, than i have some more gory pictures we can laugh about :\

    on the other hand!

Haha, look at that, its kinda a family guy joke, the one with the ambulances waiting for the firetruck to stop eating the antilope…

    Ga aan boord eikel!!

  9. Angry Mob says:

The smaller boats are clearly of a different species, so they’ll rather trying to eat the mothership.

  10. blastfromPast says:

This is about as funny as WTC-jokes. I laugh every time I see those buildings crumble as well. Funny stuff, ppl died and got squished – lulz!

  11. Emelie says:

Are we laughing at dead people?
    No, we bloody aren’t.

I see a funny coincidence with the lying ship and the tiny boats that are coming – it looks like the ship’s cubs. That’s what we are laughing about.

We need to laugh at tragedies, it’s happening everywhere in the world every day, how are we going to cope with it if not with humour and laughter?

Some people needs to stop taking things so seriously…

  12. James Brown says:

Bit harsh! but i did lol slightly

  13. sk says:

    this was on 9gag a week ago…

i sea what you did there!

  14. Carey says:

The joke is about the picture, not about people being killed or missing. By the way, yes I would post this if my parents were two of the missing. Humor is supposed to be used to lighten hardships and laughing makes me feel better when I am hurting.

You people need to lighten up.

  15. Kyle says:

    Wow, f*cking classless

  16. Kyle says:

Failblog mods are child molesters. FUNNY!!!!

  17. jeffg says:

Some of you need to go outside and take a deep breath.

  18. Julian says:

Haha so funny. People lighten up about saying people died. Way more people die everyday….

  19. Rainman says:

    Excellent Post.

  20. nerd says:

Hilarious! Totally reminded me on this!

  21. crazy says:

am i the only one who start reading the first sentence and thought that the continue is “who drove a boat”?

  22. Name says:

    LOL dead eurasians OLOLOLOLOLOL

  23. Name says:

even without 12-and-counting dead people, this wouldn’t be funny.

  24. mightymario says:

i dont give a s**t. it´s funny! im gona go to hell :D

  25. MissIzzyDBC says:

So, judging from the comment here: Offensive and harsh jokes are funny when other people are offended, but as soon as you personally find it offensive it’s instantly unfunny and everyone needs to stfu because your opinion matters, and everyone else’s doesn’t?

    • lolaslovesterl says:

offensive and harsh jokes are never funny…

      • MissIzzyDBC says:

If that’s truly what you believe, then why are you voluntarily on the internet? You must hate it here.

        • lolaslovesterl says:

no i dont hate the internet, not everyone thinks you need to be offensive to be funny. i dont find any humor in people dying. had no one died when the boat tipped over, i agree it would be funny. but people lost their lives.

      • blah says:

This was neither offensive nor harsh IN MY OPINION… so it must be your opinion that sucks.

        • lolaslovesterl says:

so you all defend to the death other peoples offensive jokes but as soon as someone disagrees its EFF OFF and you suck. i have as much right as you to voice my opinion. i think this picture is in bad taste, same as the 9/11 jokes are. there is a BIG difference between celebrating life and having little regard for it. as for the stfu, i dont recall ever saying that, nor any of the other “bleeding hearts”. its the bleeding hearts that make the world a better place…

  26. Mrs. Trickster says:

This is not funny. They’re still searching for the corpses.

  27. Anon says:

    The pic: funny.

All the comments from the righteous defenders of good and justice: much funnier.

  28. Beef Jerky says:

Hitler will punish you laughing prickheads

  29. Jesus_marley says:

I personally would have gone with…

“With the big ship helpless, the smaller scavengers soon move in to feast. Thus the circle of life continues in the cruise ship industry.”

  30. Honest says:

If you find tragedy funny, then you a sick person. If you complain about others not finding this funny, then you have a juvenile brain and are a sick person. You are a shame on mankind for attacking morals while celebrating tragedy. NOTHING about this picture is funny, NOTHING about the 9/11 attacks is funny, and if you think otherwise, then you need to have a serious conversation with God. For he has even said in the Bible that the sinner takes pleasure in misery and takes offense at morality.

    • Logic says:

I tried, but since he didn’t answer, I used common sense to realize that people laugh at the fact that the little ships look like Cubs, not at the fact that there was a tragedy involved. So no, we did not take pleasure in misery. The bible says many things, to the point that I can’t really give a shit about it any more, for the logical bits in it can easily be found elsewhere.

    • Grady says:

Morals don’t exist. They’re created and fed to you by various external systems of Government of Mind, like the church, or -

Oh, wait, I just finished reading your post. Since gods also don’t exist, and the Bible is a hoary ponderous work of parables and mythology, I can only assume that you were joking and making fun of the morons who think like you just pretended you do.

  31. kids these days.. says:

crass humor at its worst. making a joke about a (recent) tragedy only pays off if its actually clever and/or funny… this little pic is neither.

  32. Sanguinivore says:

You know, I’m not particularly offended by this picture, as much as…

    Wait for it…

It just failed to make me laugh. I couldn’t even force out a chuckle. It’s stupid.

While some of the reactions to this are a bit oversensitive and knee-jerk, you have those to the opposite end of the spectrum. Posting tragic photos with a half-witted caption on the internet produces a placebo effect. Sometimes people are conditioned to laugh at anything potentially “offensive”, even if it isn’t funny, because they think that makes them edgy.

Macabre humor can be pretty funny when done right, but when done wrong or half-assed, it fails and it fails miserably.

Every bit as shrill as those of you who’ve gone overboard with the sensitivity (pun unintended) is the bullsh*t behind-the-keyboard bravado by the internet tough guys on the opposite end of the spectrum. Trying too hard: You’re doing it.

    • Bas Yuksel says:

this joke is not about the dead people, the accident, or offensive. The ship in context just looks like a feeding mother. That is all.

If you are so politically correct, noone must want to be around you. A guy makes a joke about graveyards, vampires, zombies, pyramids, wars, any deceased people, any accident: and you foil the mood.. Do you have any friends who doesnt know your credit card number and your favorite drink?

      • Sanguinivore says:

I never said it was about any of the above. I said the photo above depicted tragedy, which whether you want to believe it or not, risks the potential to become “offensive” when placed in a humorous, or purporting to be so, context.

I don’t believe anything I said here was politically correct, as much as I said that I didn’t find this funny, because it just didn’t make me laugh. I never said anything about there being dead people in this photo, either; the posters above had. Maybe if you read more carefully, you’d understand my point.

“Macabre humor can be pretty funny when done right, been when done wrong or half-assed, it fails and it fails miserably”. Selective reading, FTL.

Keep pretending to miss my point if it makes you feel better I’m not doubling over in laughter over this, simply as a matter of taste. Let me re-iterate for you: Just because this photo could be taken into a politically incorrect context by adding some half-witted caption to it, doesn’t immediately brand it hilarious by some people. Those who laugh at anything because it’s “socially unacceptable” to do so, are conforming just like the overly sensitive commenters do, except to a different standard. Got it now?

      • Sanguinivore says:

This also may have given something away…

“You know, I’m not particularly offended by this picture, as much as…

        Wait for it…

It just failed to make me laugh. I couldn’t even force out a chuckle. It’s stupid.”

Seriously, how much of my post did you actually read before hitting the “reply” button?

        • Pod Monkey says:

          Not sure he actually reads.

I’m with you on this. I love macabre humor. But there’s a difference in 9/11 jokes and this. 9/11 jokes combat the motivation behind the attacks. If we’re laughing at them, it shows we aren’t afraid of them.

This is simply tasteless as one man’s arrogance, stupidity, and cowardice got other people killed when they trusted him to keep them safe. The joke is in poor taste, primarily, because they are still pulling bodies from the wreck. It’s like the politician who made a joke at a political event about the guy who flew his plain into the Austin, Tx IRS building before the people killed inside had stopped burning. It’s in poor taste. Something can be tasteless and funny, but this just isn’t.

      • mojo says:

Very good! I agree with Bas. You need some humor to stay sane in this world. I think that it is amazing that 4000+ people survived this.

  33. L says:

It’d be funny if it were a good joke. This ain’t it, it’s just insensitive.

Seriously even if they weren’t recovering bodies it’d still be unfunny.

    • Sanguinivore says:

You mean you didn’t laugh at this simply because it didn’t amuse you and not because you’re morally outraged? Inconceivable!

Don’t try explaining this to the logically impaired inhabitants of Failblog. They can’t comprehend such things. Their heads may explode.

  34. CrzyCutie93 says:

Don’t get me wrong, this is really creative and super funny. Buuuuuuuuut– it may be a tad bit too soon.

  35. Too soon, bodies are still being found for chrissakes.

  36. ace chutney says:

its funny cause its boats. not cause people died.

    • Pod Monkey says:

But people did die and there are some in the picture. At least wait until all the bodies are pulled out of the wreck before trying to make fun of the accident.

  37. l;kjhgf says:

I though this was a funny picture until you people ruined it, yes you guys ruined it for me. When i saw the picture I knew nothing about the story behind the crash, I knew nothing about the people dead and or missing. All i saw was a ship and a few tugboats. It looked like a mother animal feeding its young, which i thought was funny, nowhere in this picture does it show dead people, missing people, caskets, or anything of the such. If you take the joke in context it’s not morbid at all. If you people are going to complain about pictures than just don’t look at them or come to this site.

  38. Nikolai says:

Hands up if you read this in David Attenborough’s voice!

  39. ThatOneBritishGuy says:

    Totally did!

  40. david. m says:

F-ing HORRIBLE. people,,,,, A LOT of people died.

the most tasteless thing i have seen all day.

maybe something bad will happen to your family and we can all laugh at you.

    piece of S*&@

  41. John says:

Wait so we should wait to laugh until all the bodies and people are found?….

But 20 bodies could be hard to find… I can’t wait that long.

  42. Xorcist says:

Wow… Lots of yelling here. Excuse me for saying this, but to those that keep saying this isn’t funny, remember that this IS Failblog, and thus, this was added because it is considered by the poster to be a FAILURE at humor. And as for the ones that think it is funny, that is their opinion. Take it or leave it. Personally, I would be more apt to find it funny if they had waited at least another couple of months.

  43. Helena Handbasket says:

    A haiku:

    This is your captain.
    Sorry the ship fell over.
    I am outta here.

  44. Roger says:

It seems like the people who think this would never be funny have never come across black comedy, not as in Chris Rock or Kevin Hart, but as in having a morbid sense of humor; and the people who do find this funny are insensitive pricks who need to show more respect for the dead/dying. I find myself torn between the two, I thought the caption to the image was hilarious, however, ill-timed. They should have waited until the ship was cleared, at least a month or so. It’s not like this wouldn’t have the same effect (humorous) then.

  45. justin says:

i thought it was hilarious. I literally lol’d.

  46. SanShe says:

    Not funny at all.
