Why do so many people feel so compelled to try to control what women do on the Internet?
Look I hate the duckface as much as the next guy, but why do we have to be putting down women especially for taking photos in ways we don’t like? I’m not saying that there couldn’t be or isn’t a “Bro/Douchebag” equivalent out there. But which one gets blogged on Failblog, which one gets commented and all that — what’s so offensive about a woman with a camera that we’ve immediately got to shout out about how she’s doin it rong?

I’m not sure of how much you follow this site, but as someone who has subscribed to the RSS feed, I can tell you that there are MUCH more Bro/Douchebag failure pics. Hell, one of the last one was quite a timing win and just because the guys where tanned it became a bro-fail.
And what’s better? To tell girls that those poses just look stupid even though every second girl does it, or to let them keep on making a fool out of themselves?
No one’s trying to say “you can’t do this”, they’re saying “you look dumb when you do this”.
And as one of those females, I agree. It is dumb. And I mock those that do those poses.
Dumb and also cliched. As a female it makes me cringe when so many facebook pages, myspace, internet/photo poses are like this.
The think it is sexy and they are the hottest thing on two legs. It just has this arrogant, sheeplike feel to these poses. It’s hard for me to mock as I’m too busy facepalming.
I don’t think that guy has the authority to critique people based on appearances.

I thought duckface was the one used most often. There’s a girl on my facebook that has 4 albums (bout 200 pics per folder) of her doing duckface-type photos of herself. A bit excessive but oh well.
Duckface USED to be the most often on FB. But now it’s used most often on sites like this being mocked. Ever since it got deemed “duckface” most girls tried to stop.
