You’d be surprised. A coworker of mine dropped his iphone, shattered the screen, and could still use it, it just looked like broken glass (probably for a very obvious reason).

Pure touch-screen phones are a step-backwards. The lack of tactile feedback feels very unnatural to me (and many others), thus pure touch-screen phones are not the future. They should be considered an option beside sliding qwerty phones and numpad phones.
In fact, the reason blackberries are still popular in Canada is because there are hardly any other good qwerty phones available!
But that’s mean no tities =(
