Congress did not declare Pizza a vegetable. Legislation from which this inaccuracy comes from concerns what volume of tomato paste is counted as one portion of vegetables.

The following article in the Washington post does a good job of deconstruction of the claim.

Once again, I leave my trademark challenge:

I have yet to see a satisfactory answer.

                        • Arthur Eld says:

Because religion, like science, makes claims about reality. Sometimes both contradict eachother – and only a maximum of one (1) of the given explanations can be true.

Example: Did god create the heaven and the earth in six days? Or was there a Big Bang which started everything that exists?

GENIUS –> This Guy. I believe in God and Science aaaand don’t hate gay people. Why does everyone act like that’s impossible? Super Atheists are just as bad (and rude/prejuduced) as Super Christians.

(-To Arthur Eld) What if God started the Big Bang which in turn created everything? (conspiracy Keanu face).

i agree tikky i am also christian and hate people that shove Christianity down other peoples throats (well don’t hate but don’t approve of) and i think its important to have friends that are of other religions and even gays just to see their side of things

                        • mrEflavr says:

Because the bible makes claims which can be scientifically proven as false, yet demands its readers to follow blindly and without question, which is the antithesis of scientific reasoning.
They are contradictory, but you are ignoring the conflict for whatever personal reason, likely the (non)guarantee of an afterlife.

                        • SactoFrog says:

I agree and have an example of how it can…
If evolution occurred because of random genetic mutations which were naturally selected for in the environment, how was it that humans evolved to require sleep. Spending about 8 hours every night in a state of unconsciousness would give predators an opportunity to attack. Since this would cause more deaths than in a population of humans who evolved without the need for sleep, how could such a trait be naturally selected for. Because of this piece of evidence, I believe in a God – Guided form of evolution where God chose these seemingly random genetic mutations to guide the evolution of humans in whichever direction he desired. This belief fits in with the science that is now commonly accepted as fact without contradicting any of the teachings of the bible.

                    • canadianmind says:

I know why you’re always walking alone now …

                      • koalamonster says:

actually you’re also forgetting that the big bang theory and evolution as a whole is still a theory and cant be proven yet also its a philosophy not a science and i think it’s more believable to think someone created the world since the big bang theory is kind of far fetched. like how can an explosion come from nothing? also explosions don’t create things like planets and solar systems, they destroy things and disperse the remains

                        • mrEflavr says:

First, evolution has been proven. We use the word ‘theory’ in the context of mathematical or medical theory, which means ‘the process and applicable use of’. It is not a philosophy, but Proven Scientific Fact.
Second, from the Big Bang came the components of matter and energy. Remember, energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only change forms; even if the Big Bang was an actual explosion (current theory believes it was more a gradual thermal expansion) these base components would not, could not, have been destroyed. These tiny particles, whether they were atoms, electrons protons and neutrons, or the current smallest component, Quarks, slowly began to come together and form new matter.
If you honestly believe it is more believable that a magic sky genie, who exists outside of time and space (which, by definition, makes it non-existent) made everything, then you are scientifically illiterate.

                        • koalamonster says:

oh really? when was it proven

                        • SactoFrog says:

                          To: mrEflavr
Read my response to Troll Feeder’s Challenge, I think I explained rather well how evolution and Christianity can interact without changing the basic teachings of each group. Also, your ideas about the meaning of “Theory” are incorrect. A theory is an idea which has not yet been disproved and has many studies supporting it. If, in many years, it still remains not disproved and all studies have continued to support it, it will be upgraded to a law. At this point it is extremely unlikely that it will ever be disproven but it still is not proven. It is as close to proven as it is possible to get, however, because science never proves anything, only disproves it.

                      • There are religions other than Christianity and Judaism and Islam. I am Sikh. We have no quarrel with science.

                    • Charismatic Enigma says:

Do you mean the movie with David Duchovny?

            • KyraHalloway says:

Actually, by definition, the same things that qualify a tomato to be a fruit also qualify a pumpkin to be a fruit.

Both grow on vines, must have a flower pollinated in order to produce a tomato or pumpkin, and both have internal seeds surrounded by a fleshy covering with an outer rind (the thickness of which varies between plants).

Biologically speaking, both tomatoes and pumpkins are fruit. The consideration when used in cooking is irrelevant.

*yes, I’m a Biology Education Major*

              • Beezer says:

Biologically, tomato = fruit. Food pyramid (as per the USDA), tomato=vegetable.

                • AngelS says:

Actually, tomatos are biologically fruit AND vegetable. ;) In german they’re called “Fruchtgemüse” (literally translated “fruitvegetable”… dunno the correct english word for it) and can be considered both.
Same applies for eggplants, cucumbers, legumes, pumpkins, melons, okra, bellpepper and zucchini.
It doesn’t matter, if you cook them or fry them or pickle them in dog poop… they’re always both. :P

                  • BiologyNerd :D says:

Unfortunately incorrect. Vegetable is not a biological term. At all. Ever. It is a culinary/nutritional term. Something cannot be ‘biologically a vegetable’ as that word has no meaning in a biological sense.

                    • AngelS says:

                      Thank you for correcting me.
I’m sure, I’d be totally embarrassed, if I english was my native language. Since it isn’t, I simply thank you, shrug and apologize for mixing up something. My bad for not looking up every single word and term… but I’m sure the point I was trying to make still is clear. ^^

                      • Midwest says:

Interesting. You try to call BiologyNerd out (using words like, “actually”, “it doesn’t matter”, “always”) but then try to passively-agressively cry foul when it’s turned back on you.

                        • hawk says:

                          Botanically tomatos are fruits.

Never, under no circumstances tomatos are vegetables. No matter what some congress in a minor country says.

                        • badboy'sgirlfriend says:

ok, people, leave it at this. it’s a fruit, not a vegetable, and we need to get our big girl panties on and focus on important stuff: like when the world is gonna end in 2012. JK

              • LOL says:

Then you are aware that fruit is determined by amount of fructose, not “growing on a vine” or “Thickness”

*Yes, I have an education in food*

                • AngelS says:

Then you should get a better education in food.
Definition of fruit is it beeing the edible fruit or seeds of perennial plants like trees and bushes and shrubs, while vegetables are edible plant parts of annual or biennial herbaceous plants. If you harvest fruit, you still got the plant. If you harvest vegetable, you take the whole plant or parts of it, but the plant is gone and has to grow again all over.
Fruits/Vegetables like tomatos, pumkins, melons etc. are in between by growing like fruit on annual plants.

*sorry if i got some terms wrong, but i’m german and i don’t come across these word often*
*and i have an education in food, too*

pumpkins are fruit also. In fact they are berries.

      • xXCptCoolXx says:

The fail is far more complex than Congress simply “declaring pizza a vegetable” or, as many say, that tomatoes are actually a fruit. What really reinforced the fail for me was that, out of all the things they have disagreed on in the recent past that would probably be beneficial (health care, raising the debt ceiling, Veteran’s benefits, etc), Congress is more concerned with joining together in agreeing that a small amount of vegetable paste is equal to an actual vegetable so that frozen pizza companies can continue to sell to America’s schools.

And American’s wonder why the obesity rate is soaring and why their approval rating is so low. They’re putting the needs of corporations above the needs of their constituents.

        • JD says:

Probably because everything you listed except for Veteran’s benefits would ruin this country more than it’s already being ruined. But as I’m guessing you’re not a professional involved in any of the fields you’re expressing your obviously ignorant opinion on, I can’t blame you too much. I just wish stupid people would not pretend to be experts in things they have no clue about.

        • healiethellama says:

          tl;dr

        • Dude Seriously? says:

You sir are an idiot. If anything, they should lower the debt ceiling because the more the government owes, the more they will take from us in taxes. What they need to do is govern spending. For instance, myself being in the military I have seen some outrageous spending in the government like paying $99 dollars for a plain pair of round-nosed pliers or the fact that a politicians wage is non-taxable and they are not required to claim the “gifts” they receive for taxes. What about the fact that they allow illegal aliens to stay in this country and offer them benefits that are not even eligible to citizens of this country.

The only thing that should be done about health care is regulating the charges made by hospitals and dis-allowing them to report on a persons credit ie, I was in a dirt bike accident that put me in the hospital for a week and did not allow me to work for 6 months. In that time the hospital had billed me for over $60k in medical bills and with me not able to work or draw disability because the accident was my fault, (I learned from my mistake so please save the time and effort by commenting on this) so in that time frame they referred my file to collections and ruined my credit which in turn is the only thing holding me from a home loan which would in fact help boost the economy (if ever so slightly).

Veterans benefits are fine, just leave them as they have been, don’t change them. I am a vet and I am not looking for a handout or anything, I just like the fact that in 10 more years I can retire and let my side business help supplement my income.

Obese children are the result of negligent parents, not school lunches. When my kids want to go to Micky D’s for a cheese burger and a toy I say no, that’s all it takes. If they want to control the population they should just start a breeding license, no you are too fat or too stupid and we don’t want anymore of you running around, now that would make my life easier. The government just needs to stay out of everyone’s business. I will teach my kids how and what to eat, I would rather not wear my seat-belt. I want to live my life as I see fit, I’m not going to interfere with their lives, why must they mess with mine.

The biggest problem with congress that I can see is there is just too damn many of them. Do we really need 10 different people to say how my state wants to handle a situation? I say cut the number by more than half, less people equals less confusion and less ego. If the people running this country become smaller then their ego’s should get smaller as well. Just look at how many signatures are on the Declaration Of Independence, 56 people started this country, why do we need more than 700 people in office? I can promise you that I do more paper work in a week than 3/4 of them do in a year. “Checks and Balances” should refer more to authority than their bank accounts. I say take this system apart and rebuild it from the ground up because what they are doing is s**tting on my back doorstep and I don’t like it.

          • SactoFrog says:

There are a huge number of people in this country who have better ideas and would be better qualified to run this country than the politicians who currently do. Unfortunately, with the way elections are set up in this country, all but a select few are ever allowed to run for a government position. These “Politicians” are not running to improve the country, they are running for personal reasons. Politicians ruin a county, so why do so many people allow them to be voted into office every year? If you truly want there to be a fair election, make it so anyone can run. I say elections should start with the nominations of individual people for the presidency in your city. There would then be a minor election in every single city and the winners would move up to the county elections. It would continue like this through state and region until the final election where the winners of all elections up to this point along with the previous president would campaign for a term as president.

        • Sally G says:

Hear, hear! Congress’s approval rating is ~11%; that of the British before the American Revolution is estimated to have been ~30%.
          Interesting times, indeed.

      • vladdycat says:

Paid for by the frozen food lobby. Similar to Raygun claiming catsup is a vegetable. Congress should be working on getting us out of this recession instead of legislating food portions.

        • bigsteve says:

congress cannot do anything to help the economy other than to stop touching it. you cannot legislate the country into financial well-being

          • mrEflavr says:

However, the government Could start collecting back the debt owed to the American people, the money given to all the ‘Too Big To Fail’ companies who are on stable ground now, or the money given to the financial sector of Wall Street, who are now giving themselves bonuses in the excess of $150K. Those Not getting these kinds of bonuses are instead getting permanent pay raises to the equal amount.
America LENT this money, it’s time to collect our debt back.

      • UYeahU says:

On his national radio show, Neil Boortz was talking about a college professor who asked his students about how they could achieve “the American Dream” and what did they want the Federal Government to do for them in achieving that dream. Only about 10% of the students said something like they wanted the FG to abide by the Constitution and otherwise leave them along. These, according to Mr. Boortz, were the students who had been home schooled or in private high schools. The other 90% wanted the FG to provide one or more of the following: free college education, free health care, free money to buy a house, free money to “buy the stuff they want”. One even went so far as to say something like “we need the Government because as human beings we are unable to make choices for ourselves.” Oh, and those who mentioned where we should get all this money to pay for all this free stuff said “tax the wealthy”. Perhaps they should have read the story of the Goose that Laid the Golden Egg.

Our society was set up to allow people the opportunity to succeed using their skills, brains, hard work, and perhaps a bit of luck. It also allows the opportunity to fail, because all outcomes cannot be equal give we all have varying degrees of the above components.

We have become the entitlement society; I am, therefore I’m entitled. No wonder we are racing toward becoming another third world country.

I hate to break the news to you but you could not be more wrong. The Rothchilds family is worth over 500 trillion dollars which is enough money to feed, cloth and house every man woman and child. They own the Federal Reserve and every other central bank in the world. Only 3 countries in the world are left that don’t have a Rothchild Central bank if you want to know the last countries get new central banks just look at the last countries the US has attacked. They own the media and all the major press in all the major countries. There are only 3 left one of them is Iran and when they have them all they will contract the money supply and they will buy up everything for pennies on the thousands of dollars. Oh and in 1948 they started their own country and put a Satan pentagram on their flag and call it the star of David. They have the second largest collection of fighter jets in the world. Right on the side it say Kfir which is Arabic for disbeliever it does not mean anything in Hebrew. They are a have a huge number of Nukes and no one has done anything to stop them. Since 1948 they have wiped out nearly an entire race of people and the world has done nothing. Obama has said he will stand behind Israel no matter what. If you are not in one of those 3 countries you are owned, bought and paid for by the Rothchilds family and if you not you soon will be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlOUXWQP-KM stop believing what the media tells you.

You can laugh at them while you spend your whole life slaving for the benefit of the banks.

            • Ryan Waxx says:

It takes an attention surgeon to get outraged by only the money flowing to the bankers, but NOT be outraged by:

              1. The person who paid them off (Obama).
              2. The much greater amount flowing to Freddie Mae/Freddie Mac, who arguably had more to do with the cause of the recession.
              3. The other bailouts, for example the car company ones.
              4. The “stimulus” packages, which represent a couple orders of magnitude more spending.

You are a tool, who gets outraged at only what you’re bloody well INSTRUCTED to get outraged at.

              • me says:

The stimulus package, which included the bailout, although approved by the Obama administration was set up/suggested by the previous president and his administration, and at first it was strongly and publicly supported by the Republican party. Obama had just become president, the economy seemed to be a mess (of course now it seems much worse…) and he was under a lot of pressure to take immediate action. He was also trying to be true to his campaign promises to work with both parties. Our entire country was convinced we were on the verge of another Great Depression and many people thought the stimulus package could save us (of course there were many people who had doubts, but they didn’t get as much press). It might not have been the right decision, but let’s not blame this entirely on one person. It’s not like the president just said “make it so” and the money went flowing out. It had to be approved by the majority of our many elected officials, people whose campaigns are largely supported by the companies begging for a bailout.
Also, the Occupy protests are not protesting any single corporation, they are protesting the way our government officials pander to corporations (banks included) and their greedy desires, with no regard to the consequences for the American people. Since Freddie Mac/Mae are corporations and part of the financial world, they are included under the umbrella of things that are being protested, as are the car corporations. Admittedly the bailout is a very good example of what they are protesting, but so is all the deregulation in the housing and banking industries that happened under previous presidents.

              • Jg says:

Every realize that at least one of the car companies who got a bailout have already paid it back in full? Thats right. Gm has been off the hook for like 6 months now. I only saw that on yahoo like 3 days after it happened. Nada from mainstream media (tv, newspaper, etc). Gm sales have been increasing almost monthly. That bailout worked. As for the banks…. well, they’re now in debt to both the US gov and warren buffet (or trump? Sad, i can’t remember). Thanks congress, you’re batting 1 for everything.

              • this person says:

You are even more of a tool then, sorry. Who was the president who first proposed said bailouts (then referred to as the Stimulus Package)? Oh, that was Bush. Obama just inherited his mess, and did his best to clean it up. At the time, most of the country was calling for the bailouts. It was the Republicans who first supported them, but when they didn’t turn out to be the magic fix-all the GOP wanted them to be, they made Obama their scape goat.

Wake up and smell reality. Politics is not as cut and dry as those commercials on TV would like you to believe. Geez, I was 17 at the time and even I know about everything that was happening then. Sad day for America… :(

              • badboy'sgirlfriend says:

            • Liberals are Morons says:

The banks did not cause this. I’m sorry but your liberal talking point is invalid. The investors were led to believe by Barney Frank that the economy’s prognosis looked really good and encouraged them to invest. What happened? Everyone invested at the direction of this liberal idiot and then the economy was plunged into a recession. Once again, it was the government’s fault for causing the recession and not private companies.

              • People who insist upon squeezing themselves and others into tiny boxes and lose the ability to see outside the box are idiots says:

Who’s the bigger idiot? That dude, or the people following his directions, who likely consist of both liberals and conservatives? Either everybody is responsible for their actions, or nobody is. Your conservative talking point is equally invalid.

Also, private corporations fund campaigns so if it’s the government’s fault, they would still be responsible as well because they are interconnected.

Here’s a joke for you all. Someone is drowning, and there is a liberal and a conservative ashore. Who rescues them? Trick question. Nobody does because they are too busy fighting about whether or not they should and what measure to take and then when the person drowns, they move on to fighting over who’s at fault.

                • DUDE. I love you. says:

Ideally, controversies and argumentations exist so that we all can find out what’s wrong with the current system, and eventually we find solutions together.

However, instead of finding solutions to improve people’s life, they prefer to win the argument — no matter who’s wrong or right — to improve their ego instead.

Meanwhile more helpless people are drowning in the sea of debt.

        • Political Guy says:

Actually, we are not a democracy we are a democratic republic, so you should get your political facts straight before addressing people as though you are superior. Their cause is actually rather ridiculous and unnecessary, so it is appropriate to list their movement as a “fail”. What has it accomplished so far? I think JmfDiver has it about right.

        • Gaandolf says:

          1. Just because he is against it doesn’t mean he fails to understand them.
          2. They don’t have anything they’re fighting for, they only have something they’re fighting against. The Occupy protesters haven’t given any indications of solutions to that which they are protesting, nor do they have leadership, nor do they have a plan to effectively combat that which they are fighting against (protesting Wall Street won’t do anything, petitioning and protesting Congress might help).
          3. Our method of economy, Capitalism, means that so long as business is done legitimately and fairly, corporations are allowed to grow powerful. The prospect of Capitalism is that everyone gets a chance to become as powerful as those corporations (so long as it is kept fair).
          4. We live in a Democratic Republic, not a Democracy.
          5. Saying “Democracy is dying and you are one of those helping it,” is vague, because you aren’t differentiating whether he is helping Democracy die or he is helping Democracy because it is dying.
          6. “Wake up” is trite and overused. Are you implying he is sleepily unaware, or that he is actually asleep? What does that statement add to your argument? It would’ve been more effective to end on your previous sentence, flawed as it was.

          Your argument is invalid.

I actually was all about OWS when it started, and I flew to NY to protest in Zuccoti.

My first night there I saw someone shooting up heroin, and promptly left the next day due to them calling me a “Close-minded prude” because I wanted the person shooting up removed.
Apparently, its a “no tattling” movement.
Also, as of late it has increasingly being fed by ACORN and is also turning into a staunch anti-service men and women movement which I just can’t stand behind.

Someone is herding uneducated sheep, and I’m not going to “Wake up” in your dream world, I much rather prefer reality.

            • mrEflavr says:

OWS was, and possibly still is, a worthy cause. Their original intent was to point out that we the people no longer have a say in our own political system. Our voices are ignored; lobbyists and private interest groups have the eyes ears and attention of our governing representatives because they have Paid for it.
I wouldn’t be the least surprised if the person you saw was not an OWS advocate, but a homeless person Paid to be there and make the protestors look bad.
Honestly, I even find you tale suspect. I guess I have a ‘pics or it didn’t happen’ kind of mentality.

Those Occupy Wall Street protesters need to get off their lazy asses. There is nothing important that they are fighting for. They need to go occupy a job and stop relying on welfare.

          • mrEflavr says:

They Did ‘get off their lazy asses’. They went to one of the sources of America’s current financial and political woes, tried to overturn a corrupt system by peaceful means, put up with ignorant naysayers, police brutality, and panhandlers, all for the sake of our democratic rights as Americans.
They fought for our voices to be heard over the money being shoved in our representatives’ ears by lobbyists and private interest groups; to have the money given to Wall Street by our government given Back, seeing as the day traders and CEOs the money went to wasn’t needed at all (workers at Wall Street are recieving X-Mas bonuses in the excess of $150K, and those denoed their bonuses by tax regulations are instead having it added to their regular paychecks, PERMANENTLY, as a pay raise).
‘…Go occupy a job…’? Easier said than done nowadays. I have been out of work for nearly 2 years now, and Certainly Not for lack of trying.

            • Sally G says:

Australia Fail is our government too but the No 1 would be the Carbon Tax!

    • Obvious Troll says:

Hmm. I fail to see your logic in declaring the Carbon Tax a fail. As far as I know, it merely makes you pay a tax on the amount of carbon dioxide that you produce. Surely that’s an incentive to try and produce less carbon, not something to be responded to with “HERP DERP MY BUZNESS WILL GO BANKRUPT N I WILL DIE” or outraged claims that you will lose your job. If you won’t be able to sell as much coal, try and mine something else like, oh, I don’t know, iron?

Maybe you should spend less time worrying about other people’s grammar and/or laziness, and more time improving your comprehension skills.

Also, die in a fire is so 2005 and any insults, dated or otherwise, are likely lost on somebody posting as Obvious Troll.

    • The Carbon Tax isn’t a fail. The huge mining companies want you to believe that though, because they don’t want to pay it. Nor do the multi-billion dollar corporations. The Carbon Tax is directed at the big companies, and despite their spin about it, won’t take their business elsewhere given that Australia is amongst the countries with a stable economy.

  18. LoneWolf1882 says:

even more fail, congress didnt actually declare pizza a vegetable…

  19. Most common Internet grammatical errors

you’re = you are, ie, You’re really stupid.
your = second person possesive adjective, ie, Your stupidity is obvious.

it’s = it is, ie, It’s obvious that you’re really stupid.
its = third person possessive pronoun: Its stupidity is obvious

WORD BONUS: Conversate is not a word. The correct word is ‘converse’ or more succinctly, ‘talk.’.

Who is Kim Kardashian and why did her marriage fail? How important is it that I know this?

I love pizza with lots of cheese. Tomato sauce is optional. I am very fat.

    • Jabbajackal says:

Hate to burst your bubble. Conversate IS a word. It is a verb. Merriam-Webster for the win… http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/conversate

      • It is a nonstandard backformation; it says so right in the definition. I guess it has become a word of sorts because people use it, but it’s ugly and has too many syllables. I will continue to oppose its use, except on reality courtroom shows. There it is a lost cause.

My least favourite backformation is enthuse, which must be the ugliest-sounding word in the English language. I do accept it as a word because people I respect use it, but I always cringe.

Now may we please get back to important stuff like Kim K.?

    • Vila Restal says:

Err??? I thought that’s how you made Pizzas. Pizza base then on top of that Tomato sauce.

    • kaiyotic says:

another common grammatical error (which happens to be my main pet peeve) is the following one.

effective(ly) = When you do something effectively it means that you do achieve the required result ie, I effectively spent my money (I don’t have any money left and it really does not matter what I spent it on)

efficient(ly) = when you do something efficiently it means that you do achieve the best possible result ie, i effeciently spent my money (I only bought the items I absolutly needed/wanted and I might even have some money left to save for later)

  20. RZR16 says:

I’m a 99%-er with a job. The majority of the protesters don’t reflect me because I’m not a “hippy” like most of them. I like corporations, the government, and all that great stuff that makes America such a nice place to live. What I don’t like are the people in said corporations and government. The idea of a company say Walmart starting from just 1 man’s idea and then turning into the huge corporation is the American dream. But when corporations pay off Congress and the Senate with campaign money and other “gifts” it creates corruption. Congress is doing what’s best for their wallets, and not what’s best for the rest of the nation. They are not representing the public, just themselves. All the while one side is fighting the other and blaming each other for the whole mess. While half the nation hates the GOP and blame them the other half hate the Democrats and blame them. The sad reality is that a handful of CEO that helped create the real problem not only walked away like nothing happened, but they all made a lot of money in the process. And who got the short end of the stick? The average everyday tax payer. Instead of those few big companies failing and going bankrupt, they stayed afloat and managed to keep all the debts on filling, these debts being the debts of the millions that are suffering the most in the Rescission.

OWS did nothing. The are one big city by city fail. Instead of camping out in parks like homeless people, they should have been starting grass roots projects to get new, people in office, ones the major corporations haven’t had a chance to corrupt.

    tl;dr OWS = Fail.

    • They brought attention to the fact that the corporations have hijacked the country. The fact that the people behind the economic crash walked away Scot free while the average American is losing their house. The fact that the entire government has been bought and passes bills where the top 1% get paid and the bottom 99% get screwed. The fact that the banks were bailed out with trillions of dollars which they took home, plunging the country into deficit.

They didn’t fail. Occupy did and are still doing what they aimed to do – bring attention to the corruption of the powerful in the country as the rich get richer and the poor get homeless.

And they ARE starting grass roots projects. Look into wolf-pac.com

      tl;dr OWS = Win

Second, they don’t have to show all of the pictures that were really funny, or the pictures that are related to that section. It is like a essay were you pick the best facts to go with your essay. If you were doing a topic of the most epic failures of 2011 then show us some pictures that go along with that section! Last, I think that if they showed us some pictures then we might understand the concept more. If you are talking about an animal that you have to write about and the person that you are talking about it to doesn’t have a clue in the world to what it was (and the person didn’t have the interent so they couldn’t look up the picture of the animal) instead of explaining it from head to toe just USE A PICTURE!!!!! This is why Failblog must use pictures with these capitions that they have.

Where’s Obama on that list? I guess, having the top two failers be political in nature wouldn’t look very good.

  42. sismebebek says:

OWS did nothing. The are one big city by city fail. Instead of camping out in parks like homeless people, they should have been starting grass roots projects to get new, people in office, ones the major corporations haven’t had a chance to corrupt.

    • Sally G says:

Did? They are not done; work is ongoing. So far, they are going in a very good direction; their final accomplishments have yet to be seen. Many of the people who meet and discuss issues at the various occupation sites may well be the candidates of the future, short- or long-term.

    • They’re still going. And they’ve done a lot more than you realise. We’re talking about the corruption of the U.S. government now, are we not?

  43. Aaron says:

sismebebek you quoted me… too bad I typed that too fast and didn’t re read it. The typo errors are many.

    That’s a little better.

Three words that will end The United States economic crisis- Gay Wedding Registry.

      • mrEflavr says:

        That’s…Brilliant.
More weddings, more marriage license fees, more dress-clothing rentals, more wedding-site rental fees, more wedding presents being bought, reception and catering…
I don’t necessarily hold to the stereotype that homosexuals have ‘better taste’ or that they shop at more ‘high-class’ locations; Just Sayin’ if they did, the US economic crisis would be Over.

        • Lawl says:

Seriously? More marriages can’t bring in 14 trillion dollars… lolololol

          • mrEflavr says:

The average American Wedding costs $26,542. There are approximately 4 Million openly gay people in the U.S., and many more who are homosexual and either hide it or repress these feelings. Not all gay people will choose to marry, just as not all heterosexuals do. Because of this, I’ll not include those who are ‘in the closet’, so to speak. That gives us $106.168 Billion at a minimum. True, it’s not $14 Trillion, but it’s certainly not a kick in the teeth either.
We’ll soon no longer spending money in the Iraq war, so there’s some pocket change loosened up as well. Say Wall Street pays the US back the money they were lent, couple Billion dollars more crops back up.
Either way, my overall point isn’t just that we’ll make money, the real benefit is that we would be treating a class of people within our society just as we should; Like People.

  58. le_quis says:

Okay, well accordingly now. Who cares what congress says is a fruit and what is a vegetable. It’s just a bunch of idiots arguing anyway. Secondly Science and faith both have amazing qualities and many people have proven some of each to be true. But, as with everything, you do not have to believe that what people say and prove is true. 1+1=2 for example, who says that it has to equal 2? I think it equals 72 and that 72 actually equal 9. Of course most people will say this is wrong because it’s not what the majority believes but in any case. Screw majority. Also saying that either the Big Bang or Creation, or Tim and Eric’s Chrimbus Special is in fact the truth is really far-fetched. Because of this sole reason: We do not know anything. We make things up that seem true and go along with them accordingly. Why do you think we always make mistakes? We don’t know what the truth really is. I really have no idea where I’m going with this but anyway, there has always been something. For there to be a nothing means that nothing was, and is something.

    • Dude Seriously? says:

      Well Mr. Smarty Pants,
I just typed 1+1 in my calculator and it said it equaled 2. In fact now I have done it 5 times and the result was always 2 so therefore it has been proven fact.

But 5 times 2 is 10?….. but anything times 1 is itself so maybe 1+1 5 times is 5….I’m lost

  59. Dude Seriously? says:

Why isn’t my neighbor on this list? On May 24th, a water main busted and flooded every one’s apartments so she went on a rampage to City Hall saying that it was as big of a disaster as the string of tornadoes and FEMA should have been called.

  60. Excavation says:

How can the U.S. Congress not win? The government of a fairly large country declaring that pizza is a vegetable? That really sound more like something Kim Jong Il would do…

  61. lolwut says:

the two most common elements are hydrogen and stupidity

  66. Bawsface says:

Well, stupidity isn’t an element, so in terms of life Carbon and Hydrogen are the most common elements, other than that Hydrogen is the most common by far. Also you’re stupid.

  71. mark says:

read the top comment and wonder how the fck did you get this!!!

  72. mark says:

also hydrogen is most common over all as in WHAT ARE STARS MADE OF!!!

    • mrEflavr says:

Well, if you believe Moby, stars are made of people, which is supported by Carl Sagan and Neil Tyson.

    • forestgump says:

      1. well how can we be sure that hydrogen is the most common element if we dont know what 90% of the universe is made of (aka dark matter) ?
      2. i totally burned u sir
      3. chew on that good will hunting

  73. I’m surprised the Tea Party aren’t on the list. Or Fox News. After all, a recent study found that people who watch Fox News know LESS about domestic and international news/affairs than people who watch/read no news at all. Now THAT is a fail.

    • Courtastrophe says:

Considering the Tea Party and OWS are almost identical and you support OWS (commenting over 3 times on this page on OWS related issues and bashing Fox News) I have come to the conclusion that you are probably age 12-20 with no clue about the real world or how consumer capitalism works.
Well, let me be the first to tell you, OWS is a fail, so was the Tea Party, and all news stations are biased not only Fox.
Also, With a lack of support to show what that study is makes me think you pulled it out of your ass, which your Mum and Dad probably still wipe for you.
      TL;DR? You’re a fail.

      Sincerely,
      Not anyone’s percentage

      • Sally G says:

From someone who has been to Zuccotti Park, McPherson Square, and the Trenton War Memorial: courtastrophe, you are full of it.
        (1) although says she is Australian, she does not say that she is actually residing in Australia now (though I would have made that assumption, too, I would have confirmed it before using it as a premise of my comment) (2) the corporate (née mainsteam)media is never to be relied on without independent verification, ad (3) income inequality is a “hot topic”, at least in part because of OWS-based discussions.
Verdict is still out; OWS has accomplished a lot, still working, though less visibly.

        • Sally G says:

Oops, sorry; I forgot to go back and put Clarrisani’s name in the third line, second word in point (1).

        • I am living in Australia, but clearly I know a lot more than some people about what’s going on in America. I’m not being blinded by the misinformation being spun by the Republican bias media organisations (aka Fox News in particular) and get my information from reliable sources that tell it as it is. And if you consider pepper spraying defenceless people, or shooting rubber bullets in the faces of unarmed people “necessary”… Not to mention beating pregnant women who were passing through the area to get home in the stomach and them ending up miscarrying “necessary”. Or making people kneel with their hands tied on concrete for seven hours after dragging them from their tents where they were sleeping “necessary”.

I guess if you don’t believe in the first amendment right to free speech, it’s all fine to you. After all, free speech in America is reserved only for the people with money, not the common person.

As for your blind belief that they’re all “pot smoking” – that’s what makes me think you’re getting your info from Fox. They’re the ones who portrayed them as such, which is FAR from the truth. I’ve seen what happened in the various Occupied areas via videos from unbiased sources. They had volunteer cleaning crews, libraries, translators, information stations, medical teams… all made up from people who had lost their jobs due to the jobs being sent overseas. America currently has extremely high unemployment. Even people with multiple degrees and PhD’s are having issues getting jobs. It’s not that they didn’t do the work to get a job, or aren’t looking for a job, it’s simply that the jobs aren’t there.

Did you know that right now 1% of American’s control 40% of America’s wealth? And statistically over the years it has been found that the higher the tax rate for the rich, the more likely it is they will employ people and the more likely the country will go into surplice. Heck, go back to Regan’s tax rates. He taxed the rich at 50%.

Open your eyes to what is REALLY going on in your country. There is a reason why America lost their AAA rating, has a high unemployment, a huge deficit, and why it is bordering on civil war. It’s time to get money out of politics so that the people are represented, not the corporations. And no, despite what some of America’s politicians claim, corporations are NOT people.

        • Charismatic Enigma says:

Do you think people should be allowed to deliberately misrepresent their services in advertisement?

      • Charismatic Enigma says:

Yeah, you’re not being judgmental or childish at all.

#1, Don’t argue with idiots. They’ll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

#2, Go around any college campus and find a dozen people who claim to –support– OWS. Find out what they believe the movement is about.

#3, It’s cute how you think that smoking pot automatically makes someone inferior to you. It causes long-term damage to one’s memory, sure, but so does a lot of things. Pick your poison, man.
