This is not a FAIL. They are referring to people that go to areas like this and set up “Cat Shelters” in the woods and bushes. They are sort of like a homeless tent city for cats. People place Cat houses and food bins in these areas to give cats a place to live which just makes the matter worse. There are many “cat shelters” all around my area and probably yours as well. Just go behind a grocery store in your area and check the trees and bushes behind them. Odds are you’ll find a Cat Shelter.

Are you talking about a feral cat colony? Never heard that called a “cat shelter” before. The people that feed the cats and build cat houses, generally also trap and neuter the cats. Doesn’t make anything worse.

Of the colony is Sterilized (Spayed/Neutered) then feeding and setting up shelters will not increase the problem and will likely decrease the area that the cats will roam in.
Of course if you haven’t sterilized the colony then you are causing a major problem by feeding the cats as they will breed out of control.

Oddly worded. I would have guessed this sign was warning against the dumping of euthanized animals by shelters that are presumed to be taking care of those animals.
I’ve seen enough illegal slaughterhouse dumps to appreciate this property owner’s concerns.
Where I come from a “cat house” does not contain feral kittehs. It contains horizontal recreation specialists; the kind that lie down first and get up last.
Cat houses behind grocery stores…. I dunno. Last I heard they were behind saloons. But the sign specifically says no dumping -this includes cat shelters. So one must assume somebody has been dumping cat shelters there. No doghouses, just cat shelters.
