Yes, yes, I get it. The American people don’t care about genocides, nor do they respect the sanctity of life, they don’t care about anyone else, they don’t care about other peoples freedom or how many people die, just so long as it’s not on their land, you don’t need to keep on repeating yourself. And not one of the allied forces wanted to go to war, it wasn’t a big game to anyone. We went to war to defend freedom, I mean, actually really, not the way American people “defend freedom”.
As for D-Day, the war didn’t start in 1944. It started in 1939. Had you yanks not been such cowards, had you put your manpower where your “freedom” spewing mouth was, had you amassed that apparently massive landing force sooner, the allies could have ended the war faster, millions of lives would’ve been saved. But you didn’t, and millions of lives were lost. France and Belgium were ravaged, but at least they gave it their all from the start. They didn’t cower away from what was happening. And they didn’t loose their war, their war was the allies war, and the allies won the war. Just like we always would have done even without the Americas, thanks to Russia retaliating, the Nazi forces being dangerously overstretched, and Italy turned against the axis.
Perhaps *you* should go read some of the literature written from the front line, read up on the five shmit Europe went through while you were too busy sticking your head in the sand.
As for your war with Japan, after coming out of Splendid Isolation, Britain formed several Anglo-Japanese treaties. We didn’t aid that fight as we’d already had to terminate those treaties (against British will, as the population preferred Japan over the US in the late nineteenth century) due to pressure from the US. Had America not put that pressure on the commonwealth, a lot of distrust wouldn’t have formed, and Japan might have taken a different route come the war.

We seen it as YOUR problem, I mean with France, England, all all the other 12 countries in Europe you guys SHOULD had been able to stop one country….especially a country that relied on Britain to keep supplying them with Rubber. LONG into the war the trades CONTINUED with Britain and Germany selling them Rubber for tires. Only the 2nd half of the war did Germany quit getting Rubber from Britain which was one of the resources they needed badly.
You seem to forget that Japan attacked US not any of your countries. Where was our help?? What I thought. Japan had no idea what kind of ass whipping they were gonna get for screwing with us.
And the reason the American people DID NOT want to get into another World War because for US, WW1 was just down right POINTLESS, STUPID, and costly….we thought of it as STUPID to involve ourselves in something you guys SHOULD HAVE been able to handle yourselves…there was no cowering going on, intelligence, trying to avoid another pointless war. You know of the skirmishes between France and England coming up to the events in 1939 and 1940 right? The seizure of merchant ships and attacks on vessels that caused the COMPLETE cut off from ALL diplomatic relations between Britain and France…. It wasn’t until we had a REASON….Things would be VERY different if Japan wouldn’t have attacked us for you guys..but saying the US did nothing is completely wrong….The US did more in 2.5 years than any other country did in its entirety…You know Russia probably would have EVENTUALLY came from the eastern front to the Western front to fight the Germans from Germany towards England but it would have Taken MANY MANY MANY YEARS and if Russia would have won your lands Russia WOULD NOT have given it back….there would be no UK, France, French, Italy, Italian, English (UK), England left….
And look where he had to ship supplies and troops….come the hell on…don’t compare us to ANYONE else because we came across the ocean to bring troops and supplies, nobody else did or even had to. Having your supply line running across 6k miles of OCEAN is a game changer, a Handicap that we overcame…supplied the rest of everybody to…Greece, Brits, French, and EVEN Russia (US Under-Secretary of State, backs Churchill’s aid-for-Russia policy ~~~ The US allocates $100,000,000 to the Soviet Union for the purchase of war materials.) With much more ‘HELP’ offered not to just Europe, but Russia also…
And my comment earlier wasn’t totally right, the Australians did fight the Japanese in defense of New Zealand and other Islands in the area….but wasn’t part of the major campaigns in the Pacific Islands.
And read into the ‘amassing of troops’ in New Foundland, Greenland, Iceland, taking over of bases in many places from Britain with 99 year leases….the draft was instituted for 18 and 19 years old back in 1940 for the US…during Peace time….
We froze the accounts of Italians, Japanese, Germans, stopped aid, did MANY MANY things even before ‘War’ was upon us. We WEREN’T sticking our heads in the Sand…and History PROVES that. If the US Government had its way at that point in time we would have been in the war…funny how we are ‘War Mongers’ now….because we WANT to smash the cancer called Al Qaeda and Islamic Extremists who think they are fighting ‘their end time’ killing themselves thinking they get 72 Virgins when the give their life ‘for the cause’. On the Eastern front the Russians did NOTHING to stop the stampede of Britain….it was the involvement of the Americans…amassing troops, supplies, planes and pilots IN LONDON, and start DAYLIGHT bombing runs…US ONLY…The eastern and western front was 2 different wars for Germany, one side didn’t affect the other greatly enough to HALT an advance on the opposite side…
You have to remember you guys were having a HARD TIME building war planes…ships…and even building bombs. For the most part it was the brave men once the US got involved that flew up to shoot down bombers and fighters over England that halted the German advance towards London. Before the US reinforced your airforce and started fighting along side you did the ‘Battle of Britain’ stop and they retreated back to the defensive of France….England was defended by the Brits, Canadians, Americans via the Air….THAT IS WHAT STOPPED it….not ‘stretching of forces because of Russia’
The axis powers were not one country, it was not a war fought solely against Germany. And your history is effed up. Britain declared war alongside France (and the rest of the commonwealth, so Canada and Australia ect. too) after the invasion of Poland in 1939, not after Paris fell. Britain tried to stop them from the start, alongside all the real allies. And loaning money to Russia is a moot point, Russia wasn’t actually an ally, Russia was never a confirmed member of the Allied forces, loaning them money was just America looking out for itself.
In 1941 the USA allied themselves to the “big three”. They did not actually partake in any from of European warfare until 1943. For four years they cowered away from Hitler and allowed him spread his fascist agenda and construct his death camps. And British didn’t need the US air force, not in the slightest. We had the RAF and the spitfire, we had them both since the war started, and we were producing them both just fine. When Churchill made that speech, he was in no way talking about the yanks.
Seriously, your historic (and geographic, I mean, you go from France to Britain, that’s were the channel is, had the Nazi’s forced though France, Spain would’ve been rendered null) knowledge is majorly flawed. The only thing that matters is that WW2 proved America didn’t actually care about freedom, not one jolt. Your history is also wrong, the “Assault of London” isn’t a historic phrase, the Blitz was a certain night affecting a certain area, and the Battle of Britain refers more widely to many different bombing raids that affected the entirety of Britain (i.e. port cities such as Hull), not just London. I’m sorry but whats wrong with an American school having a globe positioned where you only see North and South America. (even though the fail is that S. America was misplaced) Do schools in Europe have to position their globes where you would be able to see N. & S. America.

Geography fail. There are indeed angles of viewing the globe (such as actually being southwest enough to see everything depicted) that have no pieces of Asia, Europe, and Africa. If you simply rolled a map into a tube, yes you would see asia and Europe, but the curvature of the earth obscures just about everything but Antarctica from view. The only real fail here is cutting out pieces designed after a flat map and not the actual shape of the landmasses and then not being able to fit them how they wanted.

the internet is a nation of freedom which is why we run around on this site. its not that we dont hate america, its just that we have a difference in opinion when it comes to many polital and ideological issues that revolve around america. it is this difference of opinion of outsiders that americans are very self-defensive about, we arent hating america like many of you think, we simply do not understand why you run your country the way you do. for example whereas many countries in the world now has universal health-care systems (heathcare systems run solely by the government or mostly by the government) america does not.

Universal health care doesn’t scale well enough to work at our population size. The amount of urbanized and developed area is larger than just about any other nation (Canada is large, but not as widely developed) requires a lot of expenditure to maintain, and adding universal health care on top of that is a deal breaker. Currently Medicare and Medicaid, our two universal-style programs designed for senior citizens and the poor, are going broke at an alarming rate. Too darned many people requiring treatment requires too much revenue (taxation) to sustain.

People who have money think *our* money is better spent protecting *thier* inerests over-seas so there isn’t any money left over to take care of all those, ugh, “urban” people. Because “urban” can be interpreted as poor people who “aren’t contributing” and “don’t want to work” and are wasting valuable American resources by continuing to live.
Of course, you’re not going to find too many conservatives that see it that way. Healthcare is Socialism, and we’re not quite sure what that is, so it’s bad, and we don’t want it.

In Canada the administration and delivery of health care services is the responsibility of each province or territory. It is not the exact same thing in all over the country. U.S. could split some resposibility to each state.
Canada is large but not as widely developed. But we have roads in area almost inhabited. It makes the infrastructure per capita more important in Canada than in the U.S. And we don’t need to pay when we use the highway like you do.
The problem does not reside in the size of the country but in the system it’s based on.

If they worked 12 months out of the year at that salary it would be $58,000 / year. Teachers are NOT woefully underpaid, if they want to make more money, they should get summer jobs.

I feel like the task of educating youth probably deserves more compensation than many other professional jobs. Why do people think that educators don’t deserve what they are paid? Isn’t education something that should be vitally important for a country? My dental hygienist makes almost $70,000 a year to floss my teeth. She deserves to be compensated for her level of education, and I appreciate her stabbing my gums and all, but if we look at essential services I’d rather a teacher get paid.

Preschool teachers usually make minimum wage or slightly higher and are expected to plan lessons and bulletin boards in their off time. Many work in preschools because they get discounts on their children’s own care.
They do work more than 9 months a year. They are required to attend conferences, participate in continuing education programs (learning the stuff, not teaching it), AND they have to make their lesson plans during the summers. They really only end up with about a month off. Let’s not forget that they have to set up their rooms BEFORE the school year starts, and break down the room at the end of the school year. Both of these things take more time than you expect, and must be done in an organized fashion. They often have to reuse a lot of their stuff, posters, certain books, learning toys, and the like because the school doesn’t replace a lot of things. Some teachers even pay for a lot of that stuff out of their own pockets.
Not to mention that “average” pay has nothing to do with what anyone actually makes, considering that teachers in NY and CA can make upwards of 70-80k while teachers in poorer areas can make 25.

I don’t know. When you are required to slap something together, mistakes happen and you get careless. I don’t know how many hours I spend after work doing things like this, but I also didn’t have a family at home waiting on me. Most daycare employees do. I don’t even know if this IS a preschool or daycare. I am just arguing that there are reasons why someone might screw this up or it might not feel super important to get it right.

I think out issues should be what is wrong with out countries, what can we as the people that live in them do about them, and what we can do as humans as a whole to remember that, in fact, we are all humans.

Did you actually do any research on those claims of yours?
If you check the history of those inventions, you will find that the general idea for the plane came from Greece, most early flights were performed by the French, and if you want to argue modern planes, aka jet powered planes, depending on the idea or first succesful flight, those came from Britain and Germany respectively.
It seems like you simply skimmed through the list of advancements in motorcar, airplane and computer technology, looking for an American part in it, and then claimed this was the defining step in its development.
Kind of like the space race: First satellite: Russia, first animal in space: Russia, first man in space: Russia, first man on the moon: America.

I’m European (French) and the only places I could locate in Great Britain are London, Manchester, Edimbough, Liverpool, Newcastle, Belfast and Hastings (because I actually went there). No idea where Hull or Swansea are. And even those I know, I’d just mark a circle in Northern England that says “Newcastle, Liverpool and Manchester are somewhere around that area”.
I could probably locate all 50 american states and even list some of those goddamn stupid capital cities (I mean: Sacramento? Albany? srlsy?), but it’s only I used to play that as a game (remembering all 50 states) and we’re overexposed to US culture. You cannot pretend most Europeans would know where Utah is (who gives a flying poop anyway?), and I bet a lot of them would locate NY south of its actual location. Texas, Florida and Cali are really the only ones everybody knows. I’m pretty sure most would confuse Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin, or even Wyoming for that matter (or even Ontario or an unmarked map). You’re not thinking of the average European, who is about as uneducated as the average American (only in other fields), you’re thinking about the average EDUCATED European.
We suck at local geography, let’s admit it (some English people can’t tell Sweden from Switzerland), but we do okay on global geography (I believe most Europeans coul locate Morocco, Argentina or New-Zealand for example, not a huge feat, but still).

Europeans *are* that good at Geography. It’s standard terrain positioning. The reason I put Hull first is because Hull is the easiest city to locate on a map thanks to the river Humber. Swansea’s easy thanks to the south Wales coastline. Most Europeans aren’t dispraxic, and they do realise this.
As for the States, Illinois is next to the lake, Washington State is top right, Utah is top left of the four corners. It’s not baseless knowledge, it’s common bloody sense. Using the lakes and costliness to work out a map is primary school geography, and basic orienteering.
LMAO, Washington State is at the top left (where you think Utah is), Utah is in the middle of the West, and they’re eight states that border the “Great Lakes” (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, & New York, plus Canada borders the lakes).

Four corners, as in next to Colorado, above (I think) Wyoming. And no, Illinois is Illinois, it’s the most well known outside of the US due to Chicago, and it’s shape is pretty familiar thanks to the way many bands/American t-shirt slogans use it.

No, Columbus is credited for discovering North America (we do learn that at school), but no-one can be sure he was the first European to land. The Native Americans must have come from somewhere, and many ships were launched before Columbus was born.

Asking an American to point out Hull, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Swansea would be the equivalent to asking an Irishman to point out the locations of Austin, Lubbock, Dallas, San Antonio, Houston and El Paso in Texas.
Come on…Swansea, for instance has a population of about 170,000. That’s comparable to Huntsville, Alabama…I doubt that one European in a hundred knows that Huntsville even exists.
Swansea isn’t England. Swansea is either in Britain or Wales. It is in fact the second most populated city in Wales. Christ, it’s not as though I’m asking an American to locate Canterbury.

Great Britain is the large main landmass, consisting of England, Scotland and Wales.
The United Kingdom of Great Britain consists of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Island. It is a sovereign state composed of four separate countries, not a single country.
And it’s rare (I’ve not seen it happen in years) that Wales is ever in the national news, let alone Swansea. Most British news channels are done worldwide, then via county. English (and British) people know about the major cities (or historic cities) of their neighbouring countries due to global politeness and a long-standing shared history (British children read German war literature/dissect German war propaganda, and vice versa). The majority of Europe have far more worldwide geographic knowledge due to a focus on European history, and British kids know about America due to the national British curriculum featuring the Atlantic Triangular Trade.
It’s not so much the fault of the people as the fault of America’s introverted education system. You can’t expect to see the full picture if you keep on putting America front and centre on the shoddy craft paper display globe.
