  1. Derp says:

    What a jackass.

    • Herp says:

hey guys! I think I found her on facebook
      https://www.facebook.com/people/Aimee-Rachlin

        • AllGreatAllTheTime says:

Wow! That’s some great investigative work there, Herp! Glad this story had a good outcome. Who knows what coulda happened? Another Casey Anthony incident, perhaps? *shudders*

        • Adil says:

why dont you send her a message just to make sure its her

          • cthulu says:

I’m guessing she has already received a few unfriendly online messages. Hopefully nothing more personal… I think maybe News12 shouldn’t have shown her parents’ car’s license plate, or given enough information about the woman so that one could easily find her full home address on whitepages.com.

Apparently News12 reporters don’t take kindly to being doused with cold beverages. Or sprayed with a garden hose:

            http://gothamist.com/2011/07/26/video_reporter_doused_with_water_at.php

            • riutol says:

Well I think that water should have been boiling oil.
I don’t care what she did, if Americans prefer journalists to judge and punish suspects then just get rid of the justice system.

This woman: attempt to shame her publicly on TV. Even though she’s obviously gonna have a day in court for what she did.
Casey Anthony: media says she’s guilty and won’t mention how suspicious the grand-mother is. Public concludes Casey is guilty.

And don’t get me started about Chris Hansen.

Let’s face it: Americans don’t want a justice system, they want entertainment and scandals. At least be honest about it.

              • Jerko the Clown says:

I agree. If the saggy-ass reporter was serious about journalism, she would have strapped herself in a child seat, sat in the back of a Mercedes for a day and reported on how hot it was.

    • Epic Satsumo says:

I think there almost as bad as each other. The interviewer only wanted to do the sanctimonious moral judgement thing. She couldn’t care less about the baby she just wants a villian for the viewers to vent at. So all the watching mums can say ‘I would never do that’ and feel better about themselves, even if they’ve done it already.

      • Drake says:

        ^ This

        But while I agree…
What kinda person is this who lives in THAT kinda house and drives THAT kinda car… yet looks after her kid as well as your average redneck?

Something smells of gold digger in this case.

  2. Surprise wet tshirt contest.

  3. Avis: Goddess of Funny says:

I think the woman’s actions speak for themselves. She should be forced to sit in a hot metal box with no a/c and no water for a few hours.

  4. 26 !! she looks more like 46 .

  5. cthulu says:

Yes, she nearly cooked her baby daughter to death. But Ms. Rachlin is the real loser in this story. Because it was still over a hundred degrees on Long Island that day, and, oops, oh no, she just threw her entire pitcher of ice cold refreshing lemonade at that TV reporter.

Enjoy drinking your lukewarm tap water, lady.

  6. Fred says:

Most places I’ve lived, that reporter would have been eating lead instead of lemonade — but then, those same places, folks aren’t stupid enough to leave kids (or other pets) in cars; this dual-layer stupidity can only come from the Northeast Corridor.

  7. nacoran says:

I hope this gets played for the judge. So much for looking sympathetic.

  8. BruderSeth says:

wow.. this counts as “news” in your country?

    you must be SO proud!

  9. ConorFrancis says:

-Theres a baby in that car!

    -He’s gonna miss the game!

  10. jason says:

this girl needs to be put in the same category of Casey Anthony. These are the kind of people that need to be severely punished because if they do it now they will do it again.

    • I can spell. I mean cast spells. says:

      Just cut her tubes.

      • Strange women lyin in ponds distributin swords is no basis 4 a system of government. Supreme exec pwr derives from mandate of masses, not some farcical aquatic ceremony.U cant expect 2 wield supreme exec pwr just cuz some watery tart threw a sword @ u says:

Why cut when a roto rooter would be more fun? :)

  11. oobaka says:

I guess I’m the only one who thinks she did a great job in dealing with a scum sucking leech of a reporter.
The reporter doesn’t give a damn about the child. It’s just another news story.
Yes the woman should be tarred and feathered for what she did to her child but if a reporter came to my door trying to judge me, I’d do something similar or worse.

    • Suckassloser says:

I’d tend to agree, this is hardly news worthy stuff. Obviously, the action needs to be discouraged, but not by harassment and public humiliation.

    • I can spell. I mean cast spells. says:

Well, she has the right to NOT answer the door. However, I did get that vibe at one point, that the whole report was made to sensationalize the whole story. Unfortunately, she’s not helping her case by throwing liquids at the reporters, it’s probably exactly what they wanted to catch on camera, they must be drinking champagne over it.

      • riutol says:

Actually I think she is helping her case. I was expecting her to make a pathetic attempt at defending her actions, yet here she is telling the reporter to f… off.

I’m willing to give her the benefit of the doubt at this point. Maybe she had an excusable reason to leave her kid in the car. It wasn’t a good thing to do, but maybe she isn’t as bad as we think.

    • Adrian says:

I agree that the reporter doesn’t care about the little girl it’s all about the story.

Many kids die during this time of the year because parents forget them in the car… but I feel that they are the first victim.. they just lost their child… Do we really need to put salt in their wound?

    • AZfederalist says:

On your side here. Yeah, she’s probably a terrible mother. But really, did the reporterette think the lady was going to do an interview? Ambush journalism deserves to be ambushed itself once in a while.

    • jetty says:

I have no respect for reporters. Scum of the earth.

  12. Ofreo says:

I don’t see it as in interview fail. The reporter got a great shot. I guess it is not an interview, but still better than the woman saying no comment through a closed door. I really think there needs to be an IQ test for being parent. Can’t have a dog or drive without a license nut any ol’ ahole can become a parent.

    • riutol says:

And who is going to decide who gets their parent license and on what grounds?
      - Should people who are ok with abortion be allowed to have kids, or should we tie their tubes?
      - Should gay people be sterilized? In case they conceive a child naturally with an opposite sex partner…
      - Or maybe Muslims should have their pipes cut. Nah, nobody would ever support that, there never was an anti-Muslim climate in the USA. Ever.
      - What about celebrities? No doubt they’d get their license right away seeing how Americans worship stars. No need to even assess them.
      - Maybe poor people shouldn’t get to have kids. No way, nobody would ever suggest you need money to care for a child.

Do people even think things through in America? And seriously, if you have time to make such silly suggestions on the Internet, I doubt you’d ever get your license. Think harder next time.

  13. Samantha says:

i live on Long Island this was on News 12. me and my 7 year old sister saw this and laughed histerically!!!

  14. jason says:

This should seriously be counted as attempted murder because she knew the consequences of her actions had her child actually died. The way her child would have died would have been as equally horrible.

    • cthulu says:

The law generally distinguishes between four “states of mind” with respect to criminal acts. In New York State, a person can only be convicted of murder if he acts purposefully, i.e. with the intent of causing another person’s death, and conviction for any “attempted” crime also requires intent.

If she merely knew that her conduct would lead to the child’s death as you suggest, but left the baby in the car just because she was lazy and not because she wanted the child to die, then she acted “knowingly,” which doesn’t amount to attempted murder.

I think she acted negligently, i.e. she probably didn’t realize that the baby might suffer or die if left in the car, however, a reasonable person would have realized this, and she should have too.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mens_rea

      • Kaz says:

I know here in NM if a child or pet dies while left in a car they don’t take it lightly. But… We live in a desert and there are signs everywhere stating that leaving children and pets in a car is illegal and dangerious. People here can’t use the ‘I didn’t realize’ excuse because everywhere you turn there are signs stating the dangers.

  15. Brock Peters! says:

Too bad she didn’t splash some water on her poor baby daughter when she need it the most.

    • Brock Peters! says:

Also, where the hell is her common sense here? I wouldn’t even leave my dog inside my car on a 86 + day without

      - having already cooled the down the car with my A/C
      - and for no longer than 20 minutes

      • Urine Idiot says:

Considering cars have NO insulation, “cooling it down with the AC” would last about 30 seconds, so you’d leave a dog in a 100 degree car for 19 minutes and 30 seconds? ….and you’re better then her….how?

        • Brock Peters! says:

Not saying I’m better than her and I dunno ’bout you but my car stays reasonably cool, albeit no longer than 15 mins, after cranking up the AC.

  16. Boy Scout says:

Kid issue aside. I have little respect for talking heads and that one better learn to tread more carefully. That could have easily been a much more dangerous situation. Now anyone who can afford a Mercedes can pop for a sitter while she shops, but at K-mart?

    • Avis: Goddess of Funny says:

      She was slumming it.
And the reporter was probably lucky that pitcher of water wasn’t a canister of mace.

    • Drake says:

I aint saying she’s a gold digger.. but she aint messing with no broke N*****

No, seriously.. This has sugar daddy/ gold digger relationship written all over it.

    • Cobbscout says:

That was my take. She parked the Benz at the K-Mart.

  17. kakrohn says:

First, how does a 26yo chick drive a new Mercedes and live in a $500k+ house?

Second, those Mercedes have a cool air circulation feature that keeps the cabin at a comfortable temp even while it’s parked in the direct sunlight.

  18. S says:

Ever notice that when someone does something bad and they drive anything that is considered to be a luxury vehicle, the news always draws attention to it? Is she more dispicable because she drives a Mercedes? If it were a Pontiac, they would have just called it a “car”.

    • Avis: Goddess of Funny says:

Because it is worthy of drawing attention to. If she were poor and drove a POS, she might be forgiven if the jury were compassionate to the poor. But she drove a Mercedes. She had the money to buy a fancy car, but not to provide care for her kid.

    • Drake says:

I think its more so the assumption that if you can afford to pamper yourself, then you have no excuse to why you couldn’t hire a baby sitter or something instead of taking the redneck approach to taking care of your kid

      • riutol says:

She takes a baby-sitter, she gets labeled as a heartless parent who doesn’t want to take care of her kids herself.

Also, it’s possible to argue that poor people are bad parents for not trying harder to make more money.
The truth it, poor people hate those who have more money. They expect those who are wealthier to cure cancer and save the world. They judge and judge and judge because they are jealous. But god forbid you ever tell them “You could have earned an extra thousand a month had you not been too lazy to put on a suit for the job interview”.

So back off. The rich are entitled to make mistakes too.
Maybe this woman didn’t realize how hot it was going to get in the car. Maybe she left the a/c on. Maybe she expected to stay in that store only 2 minutes. Maybe she was sick or tired and it didn’t occur to her how dangerous it was do leave her kid in the car. Maybe she suffers from depression or another disorder.
Has anyone here asked these questions? Of course not, because she drives a Mercedes.

  19. Snappy says:

I bet that poor baby would have liked some of that nice cold water while she sat in that HOT ASS CAR

  20. JB says:

I think it’s a home-owner privacy win. Bad parent, yes, but good defense against reporters.

  21. Mischa says:

    That wasn’t water

  22. JamesBond007 says:

She got a freakin mercedes…….and that one is especially expensive………and she acts like a b****………wow.

    • Kaz says:

I wonder what the heck she was doing shopping at a K-Mart with a car like that and a nice fancy house.

    • Epic Satsumo says:

I’m confused, have you noticed lots of money making people kinder? The idea of having a mercedes and a big house by the time your 26 fits perfectly with b*tch in my head.

    • riutol says:

Typical “The rich must save the world syndrome”.
She has as much right as you and I to be a b!tch. The car she owns has nothing to do with this. Try doing more than your boss expects from you, maybe you’ll get to drive a mercedes too.

  23. Kaz says:

I live in the desert. It’s been 100f + (as high as 114f) everyday for the last 52 days. My son and I did an experiment and check to see how hot it gets in a car with the windows rolled up and rolled down. (Temp was 104f) Inside a white car w/ the windows down the temp got up to 125f. With the windows rolled up, the gage topped out at 150f. (This was the limit.) It took less then 90 mins to get this. In a blue pick-up it took less then 45 mins to reach the limit.

I’ve gotten blisters on my hands getting into a car during summer and I touched something metal. With all of this, we STILL hear about people leaving their children or pets in a car at least twice a week. Seriously? How stupid can human being get? I can not imagian how horrible it must be for a child to be strapped down in a car seat that’s hot enough to start off with… Unable to do anything but sit there and cry. I won’t even purchase a car with out a remote start system so I can start it up and let it run for a minute with the AC blowing before even stepping outside.

If this ‘parent’ is pissed off because a reporter was judging her, then I’m sorry to say this ‘parent’ NEEDS to be judged. This was nothing more then another Casey Athoney creep who cares more for herself then her own child.

    • Beach Bully says:

The average I.Q. is about a hundred. 85 for some groups. 85 used to be the standard for mild retardation. So very stupid is easy to achieve when the median is dimwit.

      • Kaz says:

Here’s what gets me… I don’t know what it’s like in the North East, but here we have signs everywhere stating that it is against the law to keep children or pets locked up in a car. When there is a need for these signs, I start to wonder how true your statement is.

On a side note: My son has an IQ of 85. Even he knows that it’s dangerious to leave a child or pet in a car. He’s the one that tells me, “Don’t forget the baby…” (Not that I ever have.) If a 13 year old with special needs and is about to get some Pokemon thing can remember this I don’t see any excuse for this ‘parent’ what-so-ever.

  24. Devin says:

Regardless of the horrible act the mother did, that’s still her property and the reporter has no right to be on it. She’s lucky it was only water. If it had been me or my wife, she might have had a shotgun pointed at her…

  25. wizardling says:

While I can’t condone the mother’s stupidity in putting her baby at risk, I _can_ condone her throwing a jug of water over that jerk of a reporter.

  26. CT says:

    *Renegade Interrupt*

  27. Onii-Chan says:

I love how they say the baby’s age as 13 month old. Seriously? Are they trying to make her look more of a bastard than she already is.

  28. emilydnelson says:

So glad I know longer live on Long Island….

  29. Outro Fulano says:

“thirteen month old baby…” Stevie Wonder WIN

  30. Drake says:

26, living in a nice ass looking place, driving a hoity toity persons car, yet seems to lack any care about her kid…

This just reeks of a gold digger who probably missed her abortion appointment, just saying. But no one ever said money = education = dignified person.

    • riutol says:

Sure, sure, she’s rich so obviously, there is no way she was just tired and her judgement was impaired. After all, rich people have microwaves so taking care of children is obviously 10 times less tiring.

As far as we know, maybe her husband doesn’t give a damn about the kids. Maybe he abandoned them and she got the house and car in the divorce. Maybe she’s a great mother who works so hard to take care of her child, she’s also really tired and this one time when she didn’t have a clear mind, she made a dumb decision.
Nah, she’s just a rich b!tch with a Mercedes. Let’s humiliate her on TV and hope the people across the state harass her.

  31. WhatFailed says:

I wouldnt do that, anyone will do that?

  32. DataopawWolf says:

Since I work at Wal-Mart, seeing women that shouldn’t have children is a daily part of my cart-pushing experience. The worst I’ve seen is some moron leave her 4-year-old in a car by himself on a 90F day.

I think we should lock up these idiots in cars for an hour in the baking sun and see how they take it.
