Oh yes there’s extreme quilting. But I agree – title FAIL. No fail in the category. Try quilting a patchwork based on Penrose Tiles and then tell me that isn’t the most amazing piece of geometry ever.
QUILTING! Not Knitting, and Yes there is Xtreme Quilting. Quilting can be very exciting especially when you branch out of traditional type of quilting.
Quilting involves stitching 3 layers together, with a (single) needle and thread. And it’s a tiny needle, that can poke you. Knitting involves 2 vaguely needle-shaped things that cause yarn to intertwine.
LOL over ‘vaguely needle-shaped things’. I usually use sizes 10 through 15, so they’re more like drumsticks than anything resembling needles. Hmm. I should screw washers to the end of a pair of drumsticks and try that some time.
Knitting’s pretty thrilling when your entire project slips right off the needle, but it’s more of an I’M GOING TO BURN THE YARN AND THE NEEDLES AND EVERYTHING WITHIN A MILE RADIUS kind of thing.
I imagine quilting could be thrilling, too, if one fails to remember where their finger is in relation to the rapidly jabbing mechanized needle.
Quilting is thrilling. So is knitting. OMG! The colours, the patterns, the winter warmth!
Actually, I find knitting slightly more thrilling than quilting. I mean, really, a cabled motif over a moss stitch background…. what’s not to love?
LAST!
HELLO MODERATORS, WELL, HI!!!!
Just FYI, the title referrs to Knitting.
The subject of the photo is Quilting.
LOL! Great observation! I hadn’t even noticed that!
…Also this reminds me of a picture i have of a bunch of playboy’s in borders under the heading of “culture” .
Well, EVERYBODY reads Playboy for the articles.
what kind of “culture”? The kind that ends up in a tissue.
LOL!
Lab reference win!
Oh, very good!!
I’m female and I did read Playboy for the article, specifically an interview with President Jimmy Carter back in 1979 when I was 15 years old.
cool story bro…errrr babe
The acting is usually cheesy. The actors only mumble and grunt but the actresses truly suck. Nah, I watch them for the story and plot.
OK, Fail in how many ways? When did Quilting become Knitting? When did needlework become Thrilling? Except when it involved flesh and a battlefield?
this thread is making me yarn.
It’s a ball of confusion!
that’s quite a yarn
I’m so thrilled I’m in knots!!!!
bunch of knit wits
You’re not getting a sweater this Christmas!
These constant puns are sew immature. You guys really need to quilt it out.
I’m a frayed knot.
Be sure to ask a military surgeon how he feels about his job. I highly doubt, ” thrilling ” will be the word used.
“100 000 $ Quilting Challange” sounds pretty exiting to me
Quilting =/= knitting.
The failure is whoever submitted this as “knitting”. Is there Xtreme Quilting?
Oh yes there’s extreme quilting. But I agree – title FAIL. No fail in the category. Try quilting a patchwork based on Penrose Tiles and then tell me that isn’t the most amazing piece of geometry ever.

Fail Blog Fail. Big time.

^This. But you forgot to mention double-pointed needles and circulars for knitting as well as various models of sewing machines for quilting.
blah blah…looks shopped…yadd yadda…pixels, etc.
I can tell by the stitching.
Knitting?
Now done with thread and small bits of cotton.
It’s not your grandma’s knitting???? Oh wait, it’s not knitting at all…
I must tell you that, for some of us, it is thrilling to see new quilting magazines. Just sayin’…..
i guess if your into that it could be thrilling. I don’t know , not into that

Double fail – none of these magazines is about knitting.
