Clearly this was taken before the theft. Why one would leave a bike like that there, unless they want it gone that badly. (Seriously, it works. When I was trying to get rid of my old bike, putting it out on the curb with a FREE sign didn’t work, so I used a really cheap lock and attached it to a power pole…it was gone within a day.)
It’s only half a fail. Assuming that tree is reasonably tall and/or has some long branches at the top, nobody is going to walk off with that chain until the owner comes back and unlocks it.
The bike? Yeah, it’ll be gone momentarily. But that nice heavy-duty chain is safe.
That bike is a POS. The chain probably cost more. My front tire on any one of my MTBs is worth more than it. You could leave it unlocked for all I care – cheap huffy POS isn’t worth stealing.
I thought the same thing. I hate these bike lock “fails”. People can easily stage this and take a picture, but then it gets 4-5 thumbs each time. Ridiculous…
I used to find these funny, and pretend as if it were real, but that got old.
second
Not exactly.
But great try!
The only thing i see here is the failed attempt of a tree owner to additionally secure his tree by adding a bycicle to it….
I hope no one steals this great tree from him!
*hands AllGreat a handy dandy chain saw*
My hands are always handy. It’s not as great though.
You don’t have to work to impress us.
You’re already great!
I’m not great – but YOU are!
you both F at being gay lovers
hilarious!
That’s a nice bike. I hope the OP stole that bike.
It is the OP’s bike.
its a bait bike.
(ITS A TRAP!!!)
this is not my bike, but I can give you the Geo Tags, it is “locked” every evening on this tree in Cala Millor Majorca
Does anyone else have Comcast Email, and if so is it messing up for you too.
I bought Comcast for $14.58 and sold it to my boss for $650,000.
And what did you do with Google?
I thought you had no money at all.. you came to america, from Khazakstan, didnt you?
That movie grossed $261,572,744 …
It’s hard to tell with the two-dimensional picture… is there really NOTHING securing that bike to the chain?
Man, I wouldn’t have taken a picture. I would have taken the bike, just to teach the idiot a lesson.
And then, you know, leave a note, telling the guy where to find his bike.
Take it and lock it (properly!) a few feet away. Watch the reaction.
In Stanley Park that bikes gone in 6 seconds!

*second’s
The chain is there to deter thiefs. lool.
It’s only half a fail. Assuming that tree is reasonably tall and/or has some long branches at the top, nobody is going to walk off with that chain until the owner comes back and unlocks it.

nice. for a second i thought you were a dunce, but then i saw your genius.
and no, i did not misspell you’re. hope to deter the spelling police. totally busted by the grammer police though…
at least spell grammar right
Omg that is totally fail…
What criminal mind could penetrate this fortress of security?
i know you got that from jerry seinfields standup cd lol. i love that cd.
Someone has issues with spatial relations.
Could be a “Bait Bike” that Five-O left there to set thieves up.
lolol im gonna put my bike here in a very unsecure way so i can take a photo for Failblog lolololol
my thoughts exactly
you both stole my thought…give it back
Next time don’t leave your thoughts so loosely chained to a tree.
What I want to know is, when he/she is riding the bike, where do they put that chain?
How about a backpack?
Ha ha ha. Very funny. It is fail…..
Lago di Garda FTW!
That bike is a POS. The chain probably cost more. My front tire on any one of my MTBs is worth more than it. You could leave it unlocked for all I care – cheap huffy POS isn’t worth stealing.
I think it’s highly irresponsible to chain a tree to this bike. Nobody’s going to steal the tree. You don’t need to worry about it.
Trees shouldn’t be shackled on the whim of some lazy bipedalist.
FREE the TREE !!!
I know what that guy is thinking..
I thought the same thing. I hate these bike lock “fails”. People can easily stage this and take a picture, but then it gets 4-5 thumbs each time. Ridiculous…
I used to find these funny, and pretend as if it were real, but that got old.
That chain so big, that bike gotta be safe!
The bike is worth about 300 EUR.
So either staged or photoshopped.
Wow, only 300 EUR and you get all those reflectors with it.
The chain is connected to the tire.
fake! (like most other bike lock fails) noone would carry around such a huge bike lock while riding his bike! but an original one XD
no fake, I have other pictures from different days were I just was laughing about the huge chain and on 2 days it was locked as seen above
Obviously not a fail. The owner cleverly left the front quick release skewer in the open position to thwart (and seriously harm) any would-be robbers.
Is that Vancouver’s Stanley Park?
No, Cala Millor Majorca
Honesty WIN
Nice bike, bro.
I would so jack that bike, to prove him a lesson….
its not a fail! its tied to a leg of a 100 ft stick insect! steal the bike at your peril!
