“At FCN we leverage local news driven issues in and around Springfield, MO and the Ozarks area to draw humor from current events, recent news stories, political figures, and media organizations to provide entertainment via comedic pseudo-stories. Just to brighten your day a bit.”
It’s named after a fish in the local streams. Have family there; Sucker Days is a big deal. This is an epic fail. It wasn’t just one person who put this together and started the publicity. You’d think somebody, somewhere along the line would have said, “Wait a minute! This doesn’t seem like a good idea”
I’ve got to agree. I’ve never heard of Nixa, MO. but this looks like an innocent blunder. But, seriously, someone should have had the foresight to Veto this as a “Really Bad Idea.”
Actually, since advertisement is all about spreading knowledge about names and products, I think this is one of the most succesful campaigns. I think that they -did- get the double-entendre of the name, and realized that it would get the event and the sponsor known not just locally, but internationally.
You might be giving them too much credit. I think one boss thought it up and the others involved just went along rather than put in the effort to tell him how dumb he is.
I actually work for Cox health here in Springfield. They do not sponsor such an event, however, Nixa does hold a sucker day event. They would know better to sponsor that event with the name of the company. They have done a lot of work with Children Miracle Network and made a flyer about two years back that headlined Cox & Kids.
I was suggested this website through my cousin. I am not positive whether or not this publish is written by him as no one else realize such unique about my trouble. You are wonderful! Thanks!
I lived in Mt.Vernon Mo for 7 years. No matter how fictitious the “Cox” part is, the event is real. And I think it can be argued that there is some lack of judgement associated with the event – like electing one girl each year “Little Miss Sucker” – THAT is for real, seriously. Little Miss Sucker. Here is the official website : http://www.nixasuckerday.org/
*facepalm*

Fake. As published by Fair City News (tagline: Local Satire. News.)
http://www.faircitynews.com/2011/05/16/2012-cox-sucker-days-announced/
Thank goodness for that. I was about to say that there is no way on God’s Green Earth that nobody saw that coming (pardon the pun).
Yeah, because people aren’t really that stupid…..
Someone named “Crass” dealing with Cox Suckers. Eeeeeexcellent.
I wonder if Mr. Crass chose the name… if so he really blew it.
I think that was the point.
Oh god -.- I live near there and never knew about this…
Cox suckers are everywhere.
“We know Cox Sucker Days will be our most successful ever.” That is my quote of the month.
This is fake. The story originated from “FairCity News” which is satirical in nature.

Umm, I already pointed that out. Quit trying to steal my Internets!
But Ben pointed it out way before you!
see *HONEYMOON*, page 4
I loled too
Really? Who is that stupid to believe this is a real article?! Another typical submitter fail on this retarded site.
well by all means, mucnher, save us failbloggers from the idiot OPs and fill the site with excellent top notch fails.
I think some people might have been hoping it would be real. But if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
The original name, Nixa Sucker Days doesn’t sound too much better.
LOL! Here’s a great tip for event organizers: Don’t put “sucker” in any event name…
Son of a bass, this sounds like a good time!
It’s gonna be a great time!

Even if Cox Sucker Days is fake.. Cox Health is real. Excellent place for lower body health.
As someone who grew up in Nixa, yes that Nixa, we joked about this stuff as kids.
Fair City News (All the News that’s Fit to Farce) makes the best articles!!!
Ha ha, you grew up in Nixa, Missouri!
Well that blows.
Punchline WIN.
everyone turn to page 5!
whatever you do, don’t turn to page 5
Well, that sucks.
Seeing your former hometown being featured on Failbog….WIN.
There may not be a Cox Sucker Day, but there is a Little Miss Sucker, crowned every year!
Wow, I love this! I live in Nixa and go to Nixa Highschool, and I for 1 will be participating in this event.
I think this is some kind of joke, so I think the fail is by the submitter and everyone who voted five hands for it for thinking its real.
Well, at least we know where your mom will be that day.
Spent 3-6th grade in Nixa, and been to Cox for kids and ER…now everytime I am in a hospital I like to say “this place smells like Cox…”
Had to feature on my dA.
I wonder if they changed the name…???
Ha ha ha! I live there. I literally fell off my chair when I read that in my newspaper. Glad to see someone put it up here
I assure you this is very real.
ROFL i live in mo and 1st time ive seen a fail from something from there……..just glad i dont live in Nixa…….-facepalms laughing-
now if only the SPFD newspaper could get a sense of humor >.<
I have a friend who’s last name is Cox. So tempted to hand this one over to her, just to be mean.
Uh, all the boobs on the original post’s site can’t tell its totally fake either. The fail should go to the ripoff Onion newspaper. Weak.
