  1. me says:

    wwwwoooooooooahhh!!
    hah, must suck

    • AllGreatAllTheTime says:

      You do that…
I must have lunch… I am so hungry!
I wonder if there are any great specials today… hmmm…

      • asdfer23vxcg says:

It seems to me that this is a manual, he turns the ignition, but the car was in gear (whereas he expected it to be in neutral). The engine will kick-start, but since it’s connected to the weels, trough the gears, it will ‘jump-start’.

        • Blokke says:

Probably not. No way could the car accelerate that fast on idle gas and 1st gear. On higher gears the car would hardly be moved by the start motor.

I’d say there’s a child (or equally skilled adult driver) behind the wheel, it looks like the guys is giving some instructions at one point. Might even be an automatic gearbox on the car coupled to somebody not familiar with it.

Your’s truly, a Finnish truck driver from the promised land of manual gearboxes.

          • derp says:

yeah…, right at the start of the vid you can see smoke behind the car as if someone just started it…
and some inexperienced person (kid or adult) mistook the brake pedal for the gas pedal…? idk

        • Cletis says:

No, it will not — unless the clutch safety switch has been shorted.

          • Anonymous says:

You’re correct. I had a car with a bad clutch position switch. I could start it in gear, but it was very slow. That saved me a tow bill once though. I hit some deep water, and the distributor cap got wet. I used the starter to drive it to a parking lot. I did have a clutch failure once (same car), and I had to start in gear and hot-shift to my destination.

        • AllGreatAllTheTime says:

          Great story, bro.

        • MrBobby says:

Yeah, if you start a car in gear it stalls in my (limited) experience… maybe on some cars it doesn’t…?

        • i_says says:

no way does a starter motor have that much power.

    • >. says:

i find this fail suspicious, you’ll notice the hood pops up before it hits the tow truck.

      • duh says:

Well yeah, it just rammed into the ramp on the back. that’s bound to release the hood catch.

Seriously? Didn’t know there were “shopped” people for videos too.

      • JAN says:

Hoax. I saw the same thing with the hood crumbling before impact. The whole thing was staged, played in reverse, and fast-forwarded.

  2. fuzz on the concept says:

    that’s quite a load

  3. victo says:

    (Holds out hand)
”I command you to stop, Gravity, my evil arch nemisis!”

  4. victo says:

    He knows not kung fu.

  5. Vexidon says:

Must have been a Toyota… stupid stuck accelerator

  6. FromEuropeWithLove says:

How the hell can a manual transmition be the cause here? It’s cause it’s an awesome automatic I guess

    • Richard Hurtz says:

Was Manual Transmition using an automatic transmission?

    • nacoran says:

Yeah, that theory is a fail. An automatic might do that. Looking at how the guy flails I think the image might be sped up a bit for comic effect. A standard would either be in gear in which case it would stall without someone pushing the gas, or in neutral, in which case it would just sit there, requiring someone to operate the clutch and gas simultaneously (usually the break too, but not in this case) to get it in gear. On an automatic you’d just pull the shift lever and it would start rolling.

On a side note, if this ever happens to you, don’t try to be a hero unless it’s going to crash into people. That guy almost got crushed trying to stop the car from rolling on it’s roof. Property damage vs. personal injury. There was an old lady who either left a standard in neutral, or more likely a automatic in reverse, while she was making a delivery to a senior in the apartment building next to mine. She was out of the car but tried getting back in to stop it. She got caught and dragged.

      And yes, she dieded.

      • Grammar Nagi says:

Yeah, You’re kinda right. I had a manual transmission car, and one evening when i wasn’t paying attention; I parked it, left it in first by accident, and when I let off all pedals it lurched forward with a good amount of speed into the side of my shed. Fortunately i was in the car and slammed on the brake right as it hit to keep from damaging the car or shed to much, but manual cars can go out of control like that.

Source: If you actually read what I wrote before posting, similar situation happened to me. If you don’t beleive me, read above.

        • Aniviel says:

Hmm, I did the same thing in my car and it died after jumping only about a foot. (Luckily for me that was exactly the amount of room between the car and the back of the garage!) If it’s anything like mine I doubt a manual would be able to roll UP the ramp without stalling.

          • Mike in Houston says:

A manual can do this if a) the throttle is stuck or b) it idles too high. The truth is a lot of things could have caused this. I have seen people do similar things while trying to ease a car forward with one foot hanging out the door. I have also seen automatics where the kill switch has failed and will start in the drive gear.

I believe the fail here is not noticing IT IS BEING TOWED, which means it is probably malfunctioning.

            • SimonMc says:

Yes, idle too high would be my first guess too.

In theory, ( I never seen it before ) a car with a big engine, with a lot of torque, and a manual gearbox, wouldn’t stall I believe. An idling engine does aprox.800-900 rpm, so in theory that would be enough to launch a car when it’s in first gear…

              • i_says says:

yeah, but keep in mind it also drove up the ramp with enough speed to mess up the front of the car. that ramp was pretty steep.

also, how did a manual suddenly get into gear? someone would have had to be inside working the clutch. no way could it have started in gear, starter motors aren’t that powerful.

          • wrong says:

All that means is that you drove a torqueless wonder. Both my jeeps (manual wrangler 4.0L and grand cherokee 5.9L w/ manual swap) as well as my old mustang (a POS 5.0 manual) would drive their own way up a ramp if you popped the clutch, but give it no throttle. Hell – with the jeeps – its by design.

Sure, a little 4 banger honda will stall, but having a limited sample size doesn’t make it impossible… not even improbable, depending on how limited your sample is.

The vid is sped up. Might have been caused by a bad automatic transmission… the gear detent wears out and you can shift between gears without any button press.. if it were sitting in neutral, this could have happened.

Could also be a manual.. he reaches in at the beginning and does something.. not far enough in to hit the gear lever, but perhaps release a parking brake, or possibly to lift a stuck clutch pedal. I’ve had buckets before where air trapped in the system causes a clutch pedal to stay depressed.. had to lift it with my foot wedged under, or by hand.

            ultimately, who knows.

        • Ron says:

I *highly* doubt it was a manual transmission and remote start. Just look.. it’s running and not moving at first (wipers are going). If it was remote started and a manual, that means it would have been in neutral, yet he never has a foot AND hand in the car, just a hand.

I’m thinking it was an automatic in D but there was a slope or something that kept it from moving (or the ebrake was on), and when he released it he also pressed the gas to get it to move some, and it moved too much

        • i_says says:

parking it in gear is good, you should always do that in a manual.

anyways… a manual that is off or in nutral will never lurch forward like that.
with you it happened because you let out the clutch while in gear… but you need someone in the car for that. it didn’t look like anyone was in the car.

manuals dont just “go out of control”

  7. Mike says:

Looks like the car was running, in gear, and he removed the parking brake and was surprised when it took off on it’s own. I like how his superhuman powers kept the car from falling over on him as he pulled a sparkly vampire move as he pushed it back away from him.

  8. Cristi says:

That is a classic case of possession. I could tell by the windscreen wipers.

  9. tatertots says:

the wipers are going before he even gets in the car…?

  10. Phat says:

I guess he had a remote starter and was use to leave the car on neutral with parking brake. The guys at the car shop probably parked the car on 1st speed with no parking brake. That’s my take on that.

  11. Jules ♂ ♪ says:

Okay, I got it. The car is an automatic and is running. The guy goes to throw it into nuetral to probably push it forward and line it up with the ramp. Instead he puts it into gear and then get thrown out of the door. The car, once in gear heads up the ramp and into the back of the truck.

    • Hoss says:

Your car surges forward in gear?

      • snow_cat says:

I’ve been in a couple cars that did that, as soon as the cars were out of park (either drive or in one instance neutral) the goddamn cruise control took over and tried to take it up to 60, even while the reset/stop/cancel button was pounded on.

Needles to say I didn’t buy either car.

  12. Rach says:

How about there’s someone in the drivers seat – which is on the OTHER side of the car – could be from various countries around the world that drive on the left hand side of the road.

  13. vivalafreddo says:

    dude has epic reflexes though

  14. Steve says:

Best part is where he tries to catch the card and hold it from flipping.

  15. Panda says:

He got hip checked by the car!!

  16. teknoboy174 says:

You can see the car was already running, by the fog from the tail pipe, so it’s not auto start. my guess is he slipped and threw it into gear instead of neutral and bumped the wipers on in the process.

  17. rofl says:

    Myth busted…

  18. Tim says:

  21. Brent says:

Obviously MacGyver was there and rigged a pulley system out of a shoelace and paper clips, with the ends attached to the door and accelerator pedal. When the door was opened, the accelerator pedal was pulled to the ground.

  22. Beach Bully says:

neutral drop . faulty lockout. no more no less.

  23. SimonMc says:

Wouldn’t there be someone in the car? I mean, when the car is on the side, he looks inside. Why would you do that when the damage is already done?

  24. whatever says:

I’ve seen this kind of thing before. You know, like when you go to lift up a really heavy box only to find out it’s empty.

  25. meh says:

its the evolution of cars. They can drive themselves now, but they’re stupid.

  26. ERROR 404 says:

It looks like someone is in the car. Look closely and you can see a lighter area on the driver’s side, through the windshield and through the driver’s window. At the very first of the clip, Strong Guy is clearly directing the driver, using handsignals, to line the car up with the ramps. SG then opens the door to give the driver instructions. At that time the video accelerates to make it look like the car is moving faster than what it is. The driver accelerated too fast, either unwittingly or accidently. Not everyone is competent to drive a car up a ramp onto a truck. Still, it’s a driver fail; Strong Guy win.

  27. Eline says:

Is it bad I voted Ghost in the Machine, because it’s a Police album?

  28. Rusty says:

This happened to my friend whos a mechanic – he was run over and broke his leg when he turned the key and the car auto-clutch started on an automatic. The torque was so strong it sucked his leg under the car (he was leaning in the window) and the car went through the garage door and into the building next door. Whoops!

  29. Ketchup says:

dude, he stopped the car with his hands

  30. Lou says:

Just had to let a women do it….

  31. Sarge says:

My theory is: As the video starts, the car engine is obviously running, and either in park or neutral. As the two truck driver is trying to get into the car, the shifter slips into a forward gear. It seems certain that he either did not have the parking brake on, or he did have it on but the parking brake failed.

Remember: The car is being put on a flat-bed truck, which means that it could easily be that it had a faulty gear shifter, or Toyota-style sudden acceleration issue.

Oh, and he was just plain lucky that the car didn’t roll over on him and crush him. You know what normal people feel as their first instinct is when a car goes out of control? They want to get the hell out of the way. This guy? Not so much.

  32. hamster says:

and that’s why you don’t eat ice cream in the car

  33. mark says:

manual transmission cars never have remote start – for that reason…
it looks like a combination of automatic, parking brake and a brick on the gas pedal…

    • bigsteve says:

most manual xmission cars have a safety switch that keeps the car from starting if the clutch pedal is not depressed

  34. mitch says:

this is how superman learned about his powers for the first time

  35. Chips Ahoy says:

there’s a driver in the car because you can see it rev up at the beginning of the video. look at the exhaust smoke

i think the driver either wanted to be stupid and spin some wheels before towing the car

or the guy spooked him out when he opened the door and instead of stepping on the brakes the driver slammed on the throttle.

or maybe because it’s a wreck the clutch pedal or something broke and grabbed, and the driver slammed on the gas instead of the throttle

also, that’s an e36 bimmer (def not m3 because of the mirrors) ;)

    • live transmission says:

this is the only comment that makes sense. it’s easy to understand the guy is talking to the one inside the car, that starts/stops the wipers and revs. there is no way that starting a manual with the gear would create a punch like that. absolutely no way.
the bloke outside the car is also trying to prevent the car from rolling completely.
My guess it was just making a kid trying the emotion of putting a car on the tow truck, or something. Clutch up, throttle down and that’s what happens.

  36. Romi B says:

    demon possessed

  37. Casey says:

Everyone seems to forget that all cars made since the 80′s have a safety switch that will not allow a manual car to start unless the clutch is depressed. It looks to me like the idiot had something propped on the gas pedal and was going to try and “walk” it up the ramp which is about the stupidest thing ever.

  38. Richard says:

Fake… well sped up to look more dramatic anyway!

  39. Darjole says:

    Ghost driver…definetly ! :D

  40. snake says:

  46. Pippero says:

There was a jedi moving the car…

  47. joshua says:

because Toretto was in the car xD!

  48. Milly says:

one plausible thing is is to be an automatic and have the turbo broken, ( and in this case a key ignition start) my bf’s father had this problem on a automatic van whit a broken turbo it wouldn’t stop accelerating but this was on road, none still has any idea how he stooped that van but he didn’t crashed it like that dude :P

  49. dirtpile says:

I feels his pain. I can’t drive an automatic either.

  50. JohnDorian says:

Look at the very beginning of the video–it gives a few clues. Like someone said earlier, it looks like he’s giving instructions from on top f the ramp. As he’s doing that, you can see the windshield wipers are turned on–they do not turn back on again as he walks, probably in frustration, to the vehicle to give the driver further instructions. Another poster said that you can see car smoke as well while he’s standing on the ramp giving instructions.

It’s a good thing he moved! Whoever was in the car driving up the ramp was an absolute idiot.

The tow truck driver is actually kindof heroic, keeping the car from flipping completely over, probably altruistically trying to keep the stupid driver from any further injury. He then tries to look for a way into the vehicle so he can, gently, punch the driver in the nose and mouth repeatedly with all his strength, over and over again until the driver’s lifeless body craps itself.

  51. gomez says:

LOL he tries to stop the car from rolling over…

  52. wisest fool says:

funny he tried to keep it from falling off….like thats gonna make it better

  53. Hazelnut says:

maybe the car’s parking brake is a separate pedal. so when he stepped in, he released the brake…? idk how it blew forward, though.

  54. Agent M says:

Any of you thought about a right-hand steering wheel car? It seems, neither of you did. It’s funny making assumptions on how to drive a car when you ar not sitting in it, and making nice, juicy contheo’s, but it is an epic fail.
This is a car with the wheel on the right side, that’s all.

  55. I will tell you says:

DID YOU SEE HOW HE JUST PUT HIS HANDS ON THE REAR LIGHTS AND GAVE IT A GENTAL SHOVE? THE CAR ***** FLEW MAN.

  56. Neil says:

If the car was capable of driving up the ramp, why did it need to be towed?

  57. Seraphim says:

If you look at the very first second of the video to the rear end of the car, you’ll see gases blast from the exaust like you kick down the pedal.
    So, the car is running.
Same second someone turns on the wiper. That indicates someone is sitting in the car, and doesn’t have a clue of driving.

Next things are just guesses: The car is an automatic, the driver released the emergency brake, or found the D.
Or it’s a manual an the driver managed it to start up.

    THAT’S IT!! ;)

  58. aflacman says:

it most likely started cause you can start a stalled manual by pushing it so thats probably why it started

  59. meh says:

and thats why you always leave a note.

  60. man says:

    woman… thee

  61. the guy with the hat says:

if it was remote start he wouldnt have to get in the car…. and a stick shift wouldnt jump that far before it would stall….so i think toyota made the breaks

  62. leandro says:

    it was a transformer car

  63. Phredd says:

If you look closely during the crash, as the car falls on it’s side at 0:05 you can see a figure in the right seat for two frames. When the car is on it’s side as straight as it gets.

At the beginning of the video as the guy is walking down the ramp the wipers swipe once. Then as he opens the left door the wipers start again and continue for three swipes stopping right as the car begins to fall form the truck.

There are no license plates visible on any of the cars, but one is barely visible on the front of the tow truck. It appears to be both of the shape typical to North America, and a shade of orange that makes me think of New Mexico or Oregon.

    Here’s my slightly incomplete theory:

Based on the cold rainy weather and license plate, I’d say it’s Oregon.

This was an automatic transmission left seat driver model car.

There was a passenger in the right car seat who was playing with the wiper knob. In automatics, many wiper knobs are on the end of the gear stick. The passenger turns on the wiper as the driver is walking down the ramp and he is signaling for them to stop fooling around. When he opens the door, the passenger shifted the car into gear while working the wiper knob.

For some reason, idle setting or whatever, the car shot up the ramp and into the back of the truck cab.

I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that this was a project car of the driver and he was working on, or installing a new engine at some do-it-yourself shop. He was done with the engine and was loading it to take home to tune it up. All kinds of things probably weren’t tuned properly and when the car went in gear without someone to control it, it launched like a rocket as we see in the video. I assume the passenger was his wife/girlfriend.

“Remote start + manual transmission = FAIL” – HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE? this would never work with manual transmission… Remote start + automatic transmission = fail, now that looks more like reality.

because the driver was a retard. there, i said it.

  69. The Spectrator says:

Poll Answer: “I know the real answer, I’ll tell you in the comments!”

Comment: There’s somebody else in the car.

  70. Ron says:

    You are all wrong.

    Look at the situation.
He has a flat bed truck and want to drive the car up them 1 foot ramps. He can not see the ramps from inside the car. So he stands outside the car and throws it into gear. Car is idling to damn fast and takes off on him.

    Observation FAIL, by you guys.

    • The answer says:

He didnt depress the clutch to change gear. if it was in gear than it would be moving slowly towards the truck.

  71. The answer says:

The car’s car alarm was set off and may have cause a short from the yers age. Usually wires that rub eachother can create a pulse that can give an electrical surge to the sending unit to add gas even though the pedal is not depressed!

  72. DZ says:

    My theory:

Somebody screwed up and wrecked the car.
