16% Muslim. Also something like 2% Christian and 2% druze. Jews make up about 75% of the population.
There is no religious requirement for citizenship. Like most 1st world nations, you can apply for naturalization after having resided there for 3 years.
I didn’t know about the 3-year plan, but it appears staying there that long on a work permit only makes you eligible. You can still be turned down. Non-Jews must also renounce their prior citizenship. Jews do not need to wait and they keep their dual-citizenship. Most 1st world nations would consider these laws unfair.
*shrug* Most theocracies would consider it status-quo. Israel is a nation founded as a homeland for Jews. Given their unique circumstances, I can’t really fault them for being selective. Matter of fact, I’m surprised they’re not MORE discriminatory. There is not a single nation in the middle east – other than Israel – where Jews hold elected office, whereas there are definitely Muslims serving as elected members of Israels government. Given the attitudes of their neighbors, it would be unreasonable to expect Israel to not be selective with their immigration policies.
It’s a different world now. It would be so much easier if we could go back to the idea that all religious states are a bad idea, regardlesss of the religion.
At least we can all agree that Mexican food is superior to all other food.
How is this a fail? It’s the international aisle, so it’s decorated with international flags, and there are sections for the different foods… the flags and the signs are not intended to match.
I swear, the actual Fails on this site are getting fewer and fewer… I’m about to stop visiting.
That would make it easier to identify them. Maybe if they wore a Star of David on them, in a pleasant non-threatening color (yellow, perhaps), they’d probably find their lives improved.
This is Fry’s Marketplace. And I guess it depends which store, but in the one by me it would be considered a fail, because EVERY flag matches with the country below it except the hispanic aisle.
eh … maybe. My local supermarket has a similar set up to this, though, but without the flags. Huge “Hispanic” section consisting mostly of tacos and salsas and stuff, but tiny little sections for Asian and kosher foods squeezed in at the bottom of the shelves.
Hie.. Juan Cowen son!!
hail hitler!
genocide is not great.
You’re a pathetic spamming loser euif8ds9a; too bad there’s no way to report you and have your garbage removed!

To Allen: This guy too, please.
Pace Salsa is considered authentic Hispanic?
Just as jews are.
You just made me imagine a poncho wearing Hasid. And there was much laughing.
How does a poncho wear Hasid?
Not all Israelis are jews though.
Some are smoothies. ;-]
All immigrants need to be, though, and you can’t just be a convert so don’t go getting any ideas.
That’s obviously a lie. A large percentage of Israeli citizens are Arab Muslims. You trying to suggest that they were Jews when they immigrated?
They were born there. What’s a large percent?

Agreed =(
Agreed. The first thing I thought when I saw this was, “general foreign flags to decorate an international aisle, in the international aisle…”
Freaking image croppers ruin this.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. There is a *small* fail in having other national flags over the “Hispanic” section, but beyond that, meh.
They could just be selling to the Hispanijewpanese.
I thought the fail was these ‘authentic Mexican’ items were made in America…
Japan is hispanic? LOL fail
This was to honor the birthday of Hiroshi Pancho-Schewitz
HAHAHA that name made my day
You can’t spell “Hispanic” without “panic”.
You can’t spell it without ‘span’ either. What’s your point?
And you can’t spell American without Eric, which is a White Christian name! I LIKE GLENN BECK HE TEACHES ME TO FIND THESE THINGS
You can’t spell American without can and you can’t spell Hispanic without hi or is, I agree what’s your point?
“His Panic” is what he’s talking about.
Sure you can: hispano
Lame fail is kind of lame.
If we keep changing flags everyday, someday we’re gonna be right.
Well Spain, I hope you’re happy. France congratulates you.
very nice flags of spain =))
a hispanic person can be jewish, right? so the first flag therefor isnot a fail
except it IS a fail
it’s an Isreali flag
Not all jews are Israeli, and not all Israelis are Jews.
So it’s still a fail
You mean Jews don’t have their own flag, badge or insignia that they can wear at all times and can be used to identify them? Huh…
That would make it easier to identify them. Maybe if they wore a Star of David on them, in a pleasant non-threatening color (yellow, perhaps), they’d probably find their lives improved.
LMAO, o wait, im i going to hell now?
… i wouldn’t care if i seen that in person…i’d just jack the JP flag!
Probably better putting up no flags, whats the point of doing it? The section is already marked with the words.
Yeah, because everyone can read.
This is Fry’s Marketplace. And I guess it depends which store, but in the one by me it would be considered a fail, because EVERY flag matches with the country below it except the hispanic aisle.
Only in US
We’ll just try all flaggs we can find. Soomer or later, one of them will be latin-american or spanish….
The only FAIL I see is the Pace (brand) Salsa… That’s not authentic Hispanic…
the flags probably unrelated to the products and meant for an event in sport or so.
eh … maybe. My local supermarket has a similar set up to this, though, but without the flags. Huge “Hispanic” section consisting mostly of tacos and salsas and stuff, but tiny little sections for Asian and kosher foods squeezed in at the bottom of the shelves.
