I think it depends on which country you live in. I Live in norway, and we have nearly no commercials at all on failblog here. (neither on the telly compared to you (I have guessed that you live in america Bill (wrong?))

Easily, when you don’t combine words improperly. He said opposing team mate, “mate” is a word that can be used to express a singular individual. He should have said “mate on the opposing team” but anyone with a basic understanding of the English language could have decoded the intended message.
