  1. Someone says:

    He’s Ok, just drive on…

    • jesus says:

don’t we all hate these tiny slow cars in front of us?

    • Bob says:

It also sucks to have a car speed up when you are trying to pass them.
This is a retaliation. Road rage yes. But that little car had it coming. It was just sooner than later.

      • aliquis says:

That assumes he was actually speeding up. This happens far too often for me, even when driving at a constant speed. Then the driver throws himself back in my lane just a couple of meters in front of me, disregarding the fact that my bus can carry up to 100 people and weigh 24 tons. For some reason, no one wants to stay behind the bus, even though they’re not faster themselves.

Furthermore, trucks and buses normally lose speed going uphill, but gain speed going downhill. But for some stupid reason, car drivers normally wait until they go downhill to pass the bus. You might call it retaliation, but what am I supposed to do? Without speeding up, I’ll have troubles in the next hill.

      • GalakFyarr says:

NO CAR should have it coming. if you think the slow car deserved it, you’re a total moron.

      • gambiting says:

I don’t know how is it in the US,but in the EU it is actually illegal to accelerate while being overtaken.

        • Tobski says:

Sorry, not illegal, but recommended that you stay at a constant speed, or slow down to allow the overtaker to return. It is up to the overtaker to decide and execute an overtake where safe to do so, with the understanding (and the requisite skills of observation and machine control) to cancel the overtake if it were unsafe to do so.

          • That Other Guy says:

In my state, on a two-lane highway, once a passer indicates his intention (by a short horn blow), the driver being passed is required to facilitate the pass by moving aside or slowing down. Speeding up would definitely be illegal.

            • Toby says:

I’m genuinely curious, why should the driver “give way” to an overtaker in the way you described? Shouldn’t he consider his own safety, before slowing down? What if the overtaker fails to spot the fast approaching motorcyclist coming wither from behind or towards him? (Assuming a single carriageway rather than a dual, where there is a barrier between opposing lanes of traffic). Finally, how can the overtaker assume the driver in front has seen him in his mirrors, or heard the horn?

Please don’t see this as retaliatory, I would really appreciate a knowledgeable response.

              • LDown says:

                1. You should give way because if you’re being overtaken, the car behind you is going at a faster speed so it would make sense to be courteous and let them through.
                2. When you overtake someone, you should make sure no oncoming traffic is coming on the other lane. If the overtake fails to see oncoming traffic, he should slow down and go back to his/her lane. That’s why it’s illegal to overtake on a two lane roadway when there is a curve or hill. You don’t have a clear view of oncoming traffic.
                3. You should always be aware of cars around you. You should be checking your rear view mirrors frequently. In Texas, it is recommended you flash your lights at the car you are overtaking to let them know you are doing so.

The first time I saw the video, I thought the overtaker was an ass, but after review, you can tell the overtakee was a douche and sped up when being overtaken.

  2. Lame says:

    It’s like me.

  3. Vans Rudiger says:

    Good work Toyota.

  4. whutthefuk says:

    wow what a dumbass women.

  5. nub says:

turn right in fifty feet, flip vehicle over, you have reached your final destination.

  6. zuizz says:

In Soviet Russia… wait it was in Soviet Russia

  7. reallyreallynicelol says:

So that guy overtakes rather dangerously the first car, tailgates the hell out of the next guy and then finally overtakes him, then HE is tailgated and slams on the brakes and the other guy goes into the ditch… and everyone jsut drives on. Woah… tough crowd.

    • Snake_Man448 says:

That is a road. You do not simply stop in the middle of a road. And there is no where to pull over, for that is not terrain your pull over on.

  8. Dopplerman says:

The Lada did not keep the proper distance, so the fault is the driver

    • maverickxeo says:

So if someone cuts you off and slams on the brakes, you are at fault if you hit them? No, its the car in front, because they were driving recklessly.

Where I am from, you NEED a reason to slam on the brakes in the first place, or else YOU (leading car) is at fault.

      • Ben says:

Same where I am from: a driver did this to me last year. He got convicted of dangerous driving (banned for a year, barely avoided prison), his insurance paid for my damages and for my injury compensation.

The driver in front (and the driver that did it to me) isn’t at fault for braking, but IS at fault for overtaking and then cutting in to close and braking.

        • M.A.D.MikE says:

In Russia – if you rear-end somebody, the court will find you guilty with 99% probability. It is actually a common thing to overtake somebody and slam on the brakes, to get some $ :) And yes, we’ve got a lot of retarded laws :)

      • Assman says:

You’re wrong. The driver of the car that went into the ditch is at least partly responsible, as they were also driving recklessly or were, at best, inattentive.

The cardinal rule of flying is “altitude, altitude, altidude.” For driving, it’s following distance.

They had plenty of opportunity to slow down and increase following distance the entire time they were being passed, as well as 4 – 5 seconds before the SUV slammed on its brakes.

If you don’t leave a distance buffer to account for reaction time and variable stopping distance, then you’re going to get crunched sooner or later, and according to the laws of physics, it doesn’t matter if the SUV has a valid reason to brake or not.

  9. Al says:

    I can’t see why/how s/he ran off the road :/

  10. Paul says:

At least now I know that both those styles of driving aren’t limited to people on my daily drive into work.

  11. Echani says:

Well it is obvious what happened. He got pissed because the small car had speed up when he was trying to overtake him, so he hit the brakes when he was infront. The poor bastard behind should have just rammed him but instead tryied to save his precious car in doing so he FAAAAAAAAAAILed miserably :D

    • NightWolf714 says:

I can’t blame the little car too much, when the other guy keeps tail gating you like that. The SUV was asking for trouble with that anyways. :/

    • amanda says:

i don’t think that tiny car would have been much of a match for that suv. probably would have ended up chewing on the bumper. and it would have been his fault for rear-ending the guy in front of him regardless of whether the other guy slammed on his brakes or not. they’d have said he wasn’t far enough back.

    • Ryan Waxx says:

It apparently IS NOT obvious what happened here, since so many people here got it wrong.

      1. Suv passes little car. The pass is complete 13 seconds into the clip.
      2. Suv INSTANTLY hits the brakes and the little car ALSO instantly hits the brakes. You can tell because all of a sudden the camera from the 3rd car gets closer… FAST. Although it’s possible the camera car sped up radically to close the gap, it’s unlikely given how things play out.
      3. 5 seconds into the panic stop, the little car swerves to avoid a collision.
      4. Swerving while panic stopping is a very bad idea, and the little car goes off the side.

So, there was no time window for the little car to back off after the pass… and depending on which car had the best stopping profile, there may not have been any way for the little car to avoid some sort of accident.

Contrary to popular belief, a car that rear-ends another is not found at-fault 100% of the time… there’s merely a very, very strong presumption in that direction. Had the little car rear-ended the SUV, the SUV driver would have actually been at fault.

      • Jed says:

What is also not obvious is that the driver of the “little car” (Lada) hit the accelerator when Toyota was overtaking. That’s why the Toyota driver had to teach that punk a lesson by slamming the brakes afterwards.

  12. Corona says:

    Free parking! quick!

  13. petopeto says:

Give me a shotgun and SUV`s license plate number.

    • Lynne says:

Good for you. I’ll provide you with the alibi.

    • Korven says:

In his/her defense; the person in the little white car actually accelerated when the SUV started to drive by.

      • Pete says:

Good to know that is a legitimate reason for potentially injuring or even killing someone else.

        • Korven says:

It’s just as dangerous to accelerate while some one is trying to drive by (or in a quite similar level at least).

          • Avis says:

Not really, the SUV can just suck it up and drive slower.

            • André Pudiesi says:

You can’t tell me what to do, if I want to pass, I will, you can’t stop me or you are very wrong, like in this case.

Saw the truck, by accelerate the white car almost kill the SUV driver.

              • Avis says:

Seriously, you can wait. Nothing is worth putting lives in danger. If passing some prick puts you in danger, DON’T DO IT.

                • nerdygirl says:

No, I get what they’re saying, although I can’t tell from the video if this is what actually happened in this case. However, I’ve seen it happen enough times IRL.

The little car is going slowly. The big car starts to pass it. The little car speeds up WHILE the big car is in the other lane, preventing that car from completing the pass in a timely fashion, while both drivers can see a truck coming toward them. In other words, the little car was purposely trying to force the big car to either crash, go off the road, or get back behind. There’s enough blame to go around here.

              • Fsbx says:

Oh Andre Puddies, how naive you are, of course I can tell you what to do, with your level of intel you won’t even be able to tell if it was your decision or mine that made you do it :) anyways, this still doesn’t change the fact that you little minds are on the road, and do whatever your little minds tell you to do…

Most probably that SUV driver was a bit like you and heard a rock song on the radio, decided to be the king of the road… After all, no one can tell you what to do :) you do what you want :)

          • G says:

I agree with Korven. The little idiot in the white car got what he deserved. He was driving slow, so the SUV tried to pass. The little car sped up and could have driven him into oncoming traffic. Lucky for the little white car’s driver he went right instead of left.

            • benj says:

Not really — the driver in the SUV probably tries to overtake every single car ahead of him as a rule. If the white car was going that slow he wouldn’t have needed to tailgate so much.

              • André Pudiesi says:

“the driver in the SUV probably tries to overtake every single car ahead of him”
So what? Are you the law now? Is it wrong in the first place? OR is it wrong to accelerate like the white car did?

I wanna pass, you have nothing to do with it. Let me pass. You can stop me and I am not doing anything wrong.

                YOU ARE NOT THE SHERIFF!

            • Ryan Waxx says:

There was a second of acceleration, followed by a second of deceleration as the SUV driver continues to pass. They essentially cancel each other out.

Secondly, a SUV can accelerate MUCH faster than a little car like that can.

This was about the SUV owner’s attitude and nothing more.

            • Pete says:

Really? You genuinely think that is worth running somebody off the road? Please – and I’m being serious here – don’t drive.

So the white car was a prick and sped up as he performed the overtake (although I’m not convinced he did – its not clear from the video)… that *minor inconvenience* (the SUV could slot back in behind and wait) is worth potentially injuring them, or at the very least causing damage to their vehicle?

            • KiraJenLove says:

I don’t think so…..the driver of the SUV would have to be stupid to attempt to pass with an oncoming truck. He’s supposed to wait until traffic is clear.

      • Ryan Waxx says:

Actually, your point (to the extent you have one) isn’t a defense at all.

Nothing gives you the right to run someone off the road.

      • Jen says:

They’re both douchebags who were driving dangerously.

The SUV is a bigger douchebag though, because he’s driving an SUV.

  14. Silver says:

was that a cop car filming that or something else?

  15. CDU-Hasser says:

    F’ck Russians!

  16. Forever Troll says:

Did the automobilist died ? ^^

  17. stp says:

    *i don’t know

  18. Giggity says:

    Typical Russian behavior plan:
    1. Steal;
    2. Spit on everybody else.

  19. Matthew says:

I don’t understand why the person in the smaller car just didn’t just toss a hand grenade out their window before the SUV passed them.

  20. Shalezo says:

I hope the gray car had to pay big time to the police. And hopefully he may never drive again. Reckless driving.

    • Mr. X says:

Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen… it’s eastern Europe we’re talking about. Basically, you can do whatever the hell you want if you have enough money to bribe the police. Similar case scenarios happened in my country. There are only two possible outcomes: if you don’t bribe the police, you’re *****. If you bribe the police, you are fine and you can even go to the friggin TV and talk about how you were driving to the hospital to visit your dying mother when some mad driver crashed into you from behind. True story… unfortunately.

  21. LoatheBoy says:

If someone comes to close behind me I adjust the safety distance by myself and slow down ’till I feel safe again. So sometimes I drive with 10 mph on the interstate … then I write down the licence plate and sue those bastards for coercion.

  22. Brad says:

I like how neither of the cars stopped to see if the driver was alright..

  23. durkie says:

I think he knows a secret…. SHORTCUT!!!! so he/she took it

  24. yup says:

The little car should have brake checked the SUV before any of this started. Then at least he’d have a gotten something out of a wreck instead of being the one that was following too close.

  25. Fork Deek says:

Idiot driving too close to the car in front of him. There are too many of that type on the road. Probably a lot of you people commenting here do it too, but are too stupid to even realize it.

    • Charles says:

Exactly! If you hit the car in front of you, or have to pull off the road to avoid hitting it, you’re following too closely.

      • Lady Gaga says:

You dudes must be blind or not drivers, if a car in front of you cuts you off and then immediately jams on the breaks than even three car lengths might not stop you from having to swerve.

        • Ehllie says:

George pretty much has it. Man, both those people are idiots!

        • johnw says:

Wow so many einsteins on this site, where would we be without you describing exactly what we`ve just watched on the video.

          • NoriMori says:

Actually they’re describing what some of us “einsteins” (such as yourself) may not have noticed. Which is a perfectly reasonable thing to do.

        • Ryan Waxx says:

No, George P does NOT have it, as anyone with a pair of eyes and the attached brain can attest.

Notice how immediately after the pass occurs, both the cars get a LOT closer to the camera car in a hurry?

Gee, I wonder what could have caused that?

  26. satsumo says:

How about driving at 5 under because thats actually a reasonable speed and the extra 5 makes little difference to the total journey time?

People risk their lives over a tiny bit of speed, when it saves them maybe 30 seconds. Unless there is a slower vehicle further down the road of course. Maybe two trucks in a line, traffic lights, or road works. Either way, the extra 5 won’t get you anywhere faster.

People are ridiculously out of perspective about speed. If you need to be somewhere, leave on time. Harassing every other driver on the road because you’re late makes you an idiot .

    • Nat says:

      I completely agree with you!

    • maverickxeo says:

I agree, somewhat, but I have troubles going to work sometimes. It takes 35 minutes on the highway AT the speed limit, but I ALWAYS get stuck behind people going 20 or 30 UNDER the limit. I dont mind if the roads are bad (Ive had to go 60 under the limit sometimes) , but this happens when they are in perfect condition.

    • M.A.D.MikE says:

You are an idiot. Please kill yourself.

  27. Schuldiner says:

    Wow..what a douche bag driver

  28. AK-47 says:

    ыыыыы))))))))))

  29. evildave says:

I’ve been the victim of that maneuver before, but I always slow way down when people passes like that, and keep a generous margin between me and every car, because I don’t want to be anywhere near them when they head-on with someone else.

My long-standing experience is that there is nothing you can do about a tailgater. They will ALWAYS tailgate. If you speed up, they will remain glued to your bumper, even if you’re going 100MPH. They usually won’t pass, even if you slow WAY down, unless you pull off the road and stop. It’s just the way they drive. They think they should drive like NASCAR. MAKE them pass you and tailgate someone else, even if you have to pull over, unless you want their car in your car, with you. If instead of passing, they pull over, too, take off and dial 911.

    • EvilDave says:

Stop using my name or I will hunt you down. If you want someone to stop tailgating you, all you have to do is find a place to pull over or slow down and make them pass you.

  30. Captain Extraneous says:

obviously the end of a road rage event since the #3 car was filming it… unless #3 car has the single most boring travel video collection… EVER

  31. Ryan Waxx says:

Maybe #3 was in a company van. Some of them have cameras installed.

  32. Ghastly ghost... says:

That happened to me once. In the rain, this van just slammed on the breaks, and I couldn’t stop so I slammed into them. My car was totaled, their car didn’t even have a scratch. Then, they gave false insurance and information to me and the police. Fun times. It would have been better to just run off the road (if it were possible), then I wouldn’t have back problems.

  33. Bob says:

As usual, half the video is Failblog ad.

  34. Gert says:

This looks like the dumb broad that almost nailed me once in front of a semi. I’ve never seen a truck driver look more like he was going to crap himself than he did that day.

Said truck driver must have radioed rigs further up the road because they boxed her in good and slowed WAY down for several miles. Me, I got a nod from the rig driver for not becoming part of his grillwork that morning.

They should give IQ tests with drivers ed. Make it harder to pass.

  35. Eaten by a Grue says:

    100th!

  36. cowlifornia says:

So the big one cuts off the little one and brakes. The little one is obviously in poor repair because instead of slowing down, it decides to veer right.

Off topic: Then again, anyone driving s Smartcar on a US roadway should be slammed into the center divider repeatedly.

  37. baileya82 says:

honey i have to pee, pull over.
    there is an exit…
    i SAID PULL OVER NOW

  38. Pete says:

Um… slightly flawed logic there. Firstly people might be below the speed limit for reasons other than sucking at driving (a heavy or unstable load, even inside the vehicle, might make it dangerous to drive too fast, for example, or they might be aware of some hazard that other people haven’t noticed).

Secondly, the clue is in the name – its a speed LIMIT. Not a target. Big difference. As above, a driver may wish to go slower due to the road or driving conditions. Just because you CAN drive at 70, doesn’t mean you have to.

Thirdly, check your local traffic regs. I can guarantee that you will find nothing to say that the faster vehicle always has priority. Of course slow drivers should move out the way occasionally to let traffic behind move on – that doesn’t mean that they should do it for EVERY other vehicle all the time.

Finally, watch the video above. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t the slow driver who did the cutting up and slamming on the brakes in order to run someone else off the road.

    • D says:

      Pete,

In my area, holding up 5 or more vehicles is against the law, and there are postings all around. The slower vehicle must move over and allow other vehicles to pass. This does not mean drivers moving at the speed limit must pull over, but those going under and holding up drivers that are going AT the limit.

  39. Kazakhman says:

    this happened in Russia.

  40. James says:

You people do realize that it’s called a “Speed Limit”, not “Speed minimum” or “Speed mandate”, right?

  41. KiraJenLove says:

OK, I don’t get why the guy who got passed suddenly drove off the road? He was driving fine with the guy in front of him for a few seconds? Then he inexplicably drives off the road?

  42. EvilDave says:

Step -1: Try to pass someone who speeds up in an attempt to prevent you from passing.

Step 0: Have said person speed up and tail gate you.

  43. EvilDave says:

I am guessing you missed the part where the SUV started to pass the smaller car and the smaller car sped up to prevent the SUV from passing.

See, that is why you are an idiot. Try watching it again.

  44. Grey says:

The center line is white. This looks like one-way road. Is that oncoming truck driving in the wrong direction?

  45. shawn says:

Its a form of insurance fraud I believe. I have heard it called swoop and swat. The vehicle passes another one slams on the brakes causing a rear end collision then sues for alleged bodily injury. If anyone has any more info on this please post it.

  46. Anonymous says:

They deserved it. They started speeding up as the other car was overtaking. F*ck em…

  47. Convoy22 says:

Obviously most of you people are @$$ hole drivers. The little car was trying to squeeze the SUV out.

  48. Convoy22 says:

Follow up after reading you obviously Bay Area and Seattle drivers’ comments. The idiot in the crappy car was also tailgating after the pass. Strike two. And is a terrible driver. You’re outta there!

  49. Shyster Lawyer says:

    Yes! Reckless abandonment WIN!!!

  50. gigi becali says:

This is only part of the movie. Just before this scene the SUV tried to overtake the smaller car, but the smaller car swirved to the left to stop the SUV from overtaking.

So now the SUV driver got his revenge.

  51. omahgawd says:

    did he.. oh nevermind
