Nope. This is a classic fail, I actually saw this myself when it was on air. That was what finally convinced my wife that Fox isn’t the best source of news on the planet.
Actually the correct spelling of “laboured” is different in different parts of the English speaking world. The original usage was a typo for “labelled” which provoked rather a cute pun by the next poster.
*sighs*
Epic refers to a lengthy poem or story. The word has (relatively) recently been co-opted to mean pretty much anything of very large size or impact.
Epic, besides being a noun, is also an adverb referring to stuff worthy of a lengthy poem or story. However, in this day and age epic has lost its meaning, and every act can be performed epicly nowadays, even scratching one’s ass.
You dont get it ?? so is the one who illustrated that image .. The country they marked Egypt is actually IRaq .. where are u from anyway ?? you dont know where they send your Troops do u ?!
They have a good excuse for that. The people working at Fox live on Planet America. Europ, Asia and Afrika don’t exist on the same level as far as they’re concerned.
Well they did a great job with the map of France during what they called “muslim riots”. Placing all the big cities near Paris even though they were like 400/500miles away at least.
We had a good laugh back then.
Just for the record…I am absolutely positive that this is photo shopped, because, and I hope someone from one of these country’s can back me up on this, last time I checked, most country’s don’t have their names, in English, naturally printed into the landscape when viewed from above.
Just throwing that out there for ya’ll.
Funny, i mean the US has been fighting there for what? 7 almost 8 years?
Makes sense that Fox still doesn’t know the name of the country where Saddam ruled and the US soldiers died since they never broadcast any news in the first place.
Stop saying labered! WTF??? “R” is nowhere near “L” on the keyboard!!! It took someone with ACTUAL SPELLING SKILLS for me to know WTF you guys were saying!
No itch here. Well maybe there is one somewhere………….yeah, I found one. Give me a few minutes here.
*goes to bathroom, locks the door, makes weird sounds for 2 minutes, then comes out after 5 minutes*
Where were we? Oh yeah, the Grammar Nazi thing. Avis, it’s called Google. If you are unsure about ANYTHING, use it.
You know, I had to look up a map to make sure. But Iraq is labeled as Egypt. I guess the fail is that a huge news corporation couldn’t be bothered to verify that their graphic is correct before running it. That being said, I don’t think Fox News is a real news channel.
I guess you should know where Egypt is but only because of all the news coverage about this region. But honestly I would also be thrown off to tell whether I was looking at Mali or Bukina Faso.
But a ‘news network’ should know. Exept of course if it is the advertising platform for the Republican Party.
Do Americans not study Geography in primary and high school? No wonder your education levels have sunk so far below the rest the world. Geez I thought my country’s education system was lousy.

i understand the 20/80 thing but c’mon man you are fighting there for the last 8 years, thousands of US soldiers died there for the last 8 years, infact this is your 2nd war there in the last 25 years, and still 20% don’t know where iraq is????????? you need to look at the map???
how can any US citizen who don’t even know where iraq is, can have a valid voting right in USA?
don’t get me wrong it’s not personal, infact i wrote this to you since you seemed to be the guy that can understand what I want to say.
I must clarify. The US hasn’t had a war since WWII. There is no official declaration of war for this, Desert Storm, and Vietnam. So, they are technically conflicts.
I apologize but I must correct this. I hate it when people avoid studying a topic they proceed to argue.
A “war” by any other name is still a bunch of people in funny clothes bombing and shooting each other. Get a grip. The “Vietnam War” is called such because it was a war. Tanks and planes and machine guns in helicopters, artillary, snipers – that’s WAR. And you can shove your semantics
Yes we do, but can we be expected to remember where EVERY single country is? Most of us don’t have a great need to know the exact layout of the middle east so we don’t necessarily recognize the fail right away. It’s simply that we’ve forgotten a few things since we learned them.
No, but you can be expected to remember that the one next door to Iran is Iraq, since there’s been a war on there for some time now… and it’s not like Egypt is a new state, or unimportant historically. Or even on the same continent as Iraq.
and all the other major networks r advertising for the democratic party. news flash, all news is biased! no news station can air every story, so news stations air the ones that make their party look good. Fox happens to be the only conservative news station.
..it’s good you ck’ed maps, but there’s something of a Fail in the fact you had to confirm where Egypt was..relying on supposed “news” sources (especially in the Interwebz age) is an at-your-own-risk proposition..
with only 510 people tested, the chances of it being weighted is overwhelming. all they had to do is go to 1 crappy collage (probably in california) and tes 1/8 of the students with crappy grades.
You showed him………
JES, this classic was dug up from the archives because of it’s relevance to the riots in Egypt. It was not made because of them. Just look at the caption.
(I’m no longer a Fox News watcher as their coverage is too slanted. I’m very conservative, but I like hearing opposing viewpoints to sharpen my debating skills).
It always slays me when conservatives point to MSNBC and claim that it is as slanted toward the left as Fox News is toward the right. Fox must LOVE that MSNBC is around for that reason.
Of course, like everything else on Fox News, it isn’t true…
But according to the torque pattern for the wheels on 69 – 70 mopars with left-hand-threaded lug nuts — oh wait, based on your completely unrelated post, I thought this was an “unrelated reference thread.”
There are different definitions of the “Middle East”, but traditionally it includes all nations from Egypt in the west to Iran in the east, and from Turkey in the north to the Arabian peninsula in the south.
Actually, Fox News boasts every now and then about independent watch dog groups saying their news coverage is the least slanted of the major networks.
COMMENTARY folks. Complaining about Hannity and Beck has no teeth because you’d never complain about Olbermann (fired! ha ha) and Maddow. And Chris Matthews who has a chubby for Obama,
Personally, I never complained about Olberman because I only ever watched him when he was slamming Bill O’Reilly, and he was always correct when he did that. That’s because I don’t watch TV of any kind, so I only see these things when someone posts them to YouTube or something.
Hannity was an idiot on the radio. I don’t expect he’s any better on TV.
Er… are these “independent” watchdogs also owned by Murdoch and friends? Simply because outside of the US we hear few complaints about your other news networks but Faux News is considered a laughing stock. I’ve never seen a Fox report referenced on a serious current affairs show outside America but plenty of times on comedy shows who rarely even comment on the clip but just let the craziness speak for itself.
Recently there were riots in London. Fox picked up footage of the riots but not any of the interviews or vox pops etc. The reason why became clear when they used the footage claiming that the riot was against “taxes and big government” and that it showed that the English agreed with Fox’s stance against Obama style politics. Which was bollocks. The riots were about the raising of school fees and they were aimed at the British Conservative Party.
Your assumption that those who call it “Faux News” believe that “faux” is pronounced “fox” is incorrect. There is no French fail here, just your understanding-the-joke fail. Je suis désolé.
It really isn’t. It’s equivalent to the Republicans. The Labour Party are equivalent to the Democrats (i.e. pretending to be on the side of the ordinary man whilst actually being beholden to the business magnates who fund their campaigns).
“Actually, Fox News boasts every now and then about independent watch dog groups saying their news coverage is the least slanted of the major networks.”
Have you read the actual study? It was a very limited sample of 1,151 respondents with only 14% of respondents labeled as Liberal compared to 39% labeled as Conservative and 47% labeled as moderate.
“49% of Americans say they trust Fox News to 37% who disagree. Predictably there is a large party split on this with 74% of Republicans but only 30% of Democrats saying they trust the right leaning network.”
From “Fox the most trusted name in news?” on PublicPolicyPolling(dot)com.
Ah, the old “Liberal Media” myth! It just goes to show that (a) if you repeat something enough, people will believe it’s true, and (b) liberals are too stupid and wimpy to argue against this completely backwards mischaracterization of the media. (The news media are actually more conservative than the typical American.)
every day i log on and ask myself: ‘why do i come to this website?’
but now i know: it’s to make me feel better about myself reading all the stupid people’s stupid comments.
who knew that there were so many morons in the world
No. Just dropped around for old time’s sake and to see who was still here after all this time. Not nearly as crowded as it used to be. First time here since I was attacked.
I was thinking with Egypt being the home to one of the seven wonders of the world (thats the Pyramids), the longest river in the world (just to clarify – that would be The Nile) and Sharm el-Sheikh (where everybody and their Granny now holidays), people might know it’s in Africa.
I guess you are not american, then? Can you locate without hesitation Idao, Utah and Wyoming on a map? Just so you know: Wisconsin has a higher GDP than Hungary, California has more inhabitants and a higher GDP than the UK. So stop thinking americans are all stupid and I am soooo clever.
Even so, Egypt is quite close to Israel, even if it is technically on a different continent. I hadn’t looked at a map of the area in a while so it took me a few minutes to figure it out, too. I’m not bad at geography per se, just not all that familiar with this particular area. For that matter, I can’t even place all of our own 50 states, and I live here!
Okay, I suck at geography…BUT… I knew that Egypt is not in the middle east. I could pick out Egypt on a map with no names. I could likely place both Cairo and Alexandria. Did I mention that I suck at geography!?
It doesn’t matter how good these people are at geography. They are a leading news network, and if they mislabel Iraq and call it Egypt, then there a lot of idiots runnng around FOX…..but we knew that already.
And for the record, if you can’t place the 50 states of the country you live in, then you are bad at geography.
No, it’s just that it doesn’t matter enough to me to bother remembering where they all are. If I took the time to memorize them, then I could do it without much effort. Being “bad” at it would imply that I couldn’t do it even with effort.
I do expect a news station to know where things are, but I was mainly responding to comments calling people “stupid” who didn’t recognize this fail right away, because I think that’s just unfair.
Well, while I personally think that Fox News is one of the most pernicious forces for evil on the planet, etc etc kill them all etc, I have to give them the benefit of the doubt here. Blatant typos and similar glorious mistakes in on-screen graphics are par for the course in the fast-paced world of cable news channels, and the fact that one person in the Fox News graphics department made a mistake when compiling that graphic and it made it onto the air without being caught really doesn’t surprise me. Nor does it make me believe that anyone at the channel thinks that Egypt is in Iraq, from Glenn Beck to Rupert Murdoch to the guy in graphics who actually screwed up.
But yeah, they are all evil and should die, etc etc etc.
What do you expect from the network that gave us this?
O’REILLY: I’ll tell you why [religion's] not a scam, in my opinion: tide goes in, tide goes out. Never a miscommunication. You can’t explain that.
SILVERMAN: Tide goes in, tide goes out?
O’REILLY: See, the water, the tide comes in and it goes out, Mr. Silverman. It always comes in, and always goes out. You can’t explain that.
I don’t know what horrified me the most: the blatant ignorance required to draw such an abomination of a political map or the throngs of people that didn’t see the problem.
So the fail is how easily people will believe anything negative about Fox News?
Not that they’re not garbage (as is all U.S. cable news), but given the rampant hatred of Fox News, I find this more likely to be shopped than anything else.
I don’t like fox anymore than the others, but this site really is slanted towards liberal. Just head on over to Pundit Kitchen and say “i have conservative views” and watch as you get torched to hell.
According to this guy Egypt is extinct (as well as Greece, Rome and Narnia(wtf?!?) so how could you all know where it was in the before time? eH? have you been studying archaeology or something?
How insanely stupid do you have to be to believe that a Photoshop from mediamatters was a real screen shot fro Fox News?
All the rest of the words are in black or dark grey, whereas the name “Egypt” is in dark brown and the “PT” are cut off.
Seriously, anyone that believed that this was real should put their computer back in the box it came in and take it back to the store. You are too stupid to own one.
How typically stupid do you have to be to not see that this graphic is designed to be emphasizing Israel, Syria, Jordan, and Iran while de-emphasizing Iraq (er, Egypt?) and Saudi Arabia — because the highlighted countries were relevant to the news topic being covered that day, and the non-highlighted ones were not? And so the difference in font size, font color, and stylized drop shadows are intentional, and not a sign of ‘shopping?
I’d like you to back that up with evidence where a study was taken showing every single american a globe and pointing to the U.S. I can guarantee you almost every single one of us can locate the U.S. on a world map, i have NO clue where people always pull this from but it’s utter crap.
Thats bloody shocking! Its shocking that the yanks think thats where egypt is but its even more shocking that they dont know where iraq is! I hope that all who were involved were given the boot!
i’m sure it’s shopped m8. If it isn’t it would explain friendly fire incidents. Oh U.K is that small island if you look east from NY guys, we are not IRAN or NK. thanks
Wow. Multiple fails for those who can’t notice what’s wrong with the map in 0,5 seconds. Especially if they’re Americans – they of all people should have /some/ idea about the location of Iraq, if not Egypt. *snickers*
I’m really losing my hope to humanity when reading all those comments from grown-ups who don’t get this. I mean, here in Finland even every ten-year-old would know what’s wrong with that map
Go usa!
It’s actually kind of scary that the one country with the biggest army is the one country with stupidest people…
Well considering that a large percentage of Americans consider a comedian to be a serious journalist, you can understand that society is pretty close to rock-bottom.
Is this an actual image from a Fox News broadcast? I guess that having Sarah Palin on their team is finally starting to show its influence. And just think about the influence this has on kids! Then again, if they’re watching Fox News, it’s probably already too late.
Almost as funny as rachel maddow running a story as satirical as something the the onion would publish as true, or chris matthews stating that the panama canal was located in egypt, or chuck schumer misstating the three branches of government (all of which happened within the last week). Good times.
the problem here is the world, too much complicated. it should be just the US and the rest water. maybe we can preserve australia because its pretty big an isolated so its easy to place in a map and yeah, they speak english, also its a vast continent full of nothing so we can fulfill it with some interesting things from the rest of the world like paris… wait, not necessary, we already did it in las vegas.
i dont get
Egypt is located at East of Jordan and Israel. Iraq is where Egypt has been labered.
Ancient Egyptians had labered long and hard on their great pyramids!
..they labored hard to get their country recognized, too..sheesh..
They don’t feel great equality when it comes to matters on the internet. Until this day, they feel as if they were e-gypped!
That was my joke of the day. I hope you hate it!
That was a EPIC WIN of a joke
*an*
But the Gypsies are offended.
..don’t leave out the Bedouins..!!..
It is great that you liked it.
Thank you. I appreciate your appreciation of my appreciation of your appreciatable joke. (is “appreciatable” a word?)
If “appreciatable” is not a word, it should be. It’s great!
It’s an apreciatable word
I think it’s great too!
douchebags
Are douchebags great to you?
Douchebags are indeed great. Or grate. Or something.
..non-epic terminology..
I don’t think it will ever replace “appreciable” but nice try
Yes, it was a great try.
You’re looking for “appreciable”
Actually, that just means “noticeable” not “able to be appreciated” despite how it sounds.
Eh, it’s just a matter of usual usage. It can mean “able to be appreciated”, it just isn’t often used that way.
No, it cannot be,
This string leaves me feeling so integritous.
definitely a photoshop job.
Nope. This is a classic fail, I actually saw this myself when it was on air. That was what finally convinced my wife that Fox isn’t the best source of news on the planet.
Win
It’s great that you thought it is a win. I bet the next guy disses it, though.
That joke sucks.
GTFO. Please.
Thank you for making my point, Trollface. Hope you have a great day!
Nah, I pretty much loved it but thanks for deciding for me.
I think it’s great that you took the time to comment on my joke.
keep them coming!!
If I pulled my balls out in Egypt, would that be a Pair-amid the crowds!
That’s a great one.
..you might get Niled in the balls, too..
Not to mention, the English language has long labored for labored to be spelled correctly….
Really, mocking geography? At least they can spell.
Actually the correct spelling of “laboured” is different in different parts of the English speaking world. The original usage was a typo for “labelled” which provoked rather a cute pun by the next poster.
I’m glad that you thought my pun was cute. I feel great knowing this.
Just like Americans spell coloured wrong
Egypt is west of those countries.
I don’t know why you’re telling me this, but thanks. It’s always great to learn new things! (even though I already knew this – LOL)
Yes, learning is always fun! Good Luxor to you at finding more puns and appreciating them.
Thank you, neomcfly. You seem like I great guy – your mummy raised you well.
umm Egypt is actually west of Jordan and Isreal… Good try though
And Isreal is actually spelled Israel.
I believe that was a joke, or an Idiot- which is still a joke. Defend your honor and answer me!
It Isreal… or is it?
Norway! Isreal?
..i think this pun is Finnish..
and iran, as shown as a very large country on the screen, is actually the small country down in the buttom of iraq.
Actually, that’s Kuwait.
This is a great map!
EPIC
Epic<Great IMHO
Judgement FAIL
Greatness WIN
Seriously.
Please don’t make me define “epic” again.
Great is a different thing altogether.
So is awesome.
Epic>Awesome>Great
*Great<Epic<Awesome
I should change my name to “Chief Awesome” (chief > commander)………….
i would do ‘captain awesome’ if that wasn’t already taken
*sighs*
Epic refers to a lengthy poem or story. The word has (relatively) recently been co-opted to mean pretty much anything of very large size or impact.
Epic, besides being a noun, is also an adverb referring to stuff worthy of a lengthy poem or story. However, in this day and age epic has lost its meaning, and every act can be performed epicly nowadays, even scratching one’s ass.
xander, that’s an adjective, not an adverb.
..a gr8 re-mapping, you mean?..
I’m not mean. I think this map is great!
ok now i get fox fails evry time they air somthing thats not family guy
0__0
Egypt is located in the northeastern corner of Africa, where this news graphic has it placed incorrectly in the Middle East.
Then go to school from time to time!!
then you fail too
^^ geography fail.
Egypt is in Africa not the Middle East
Get with the times. Fox News moved it.
don’t worry you’re not alone.. ME TOO!.. somethings wrong with the map?
You dont get it ?? so is the one who illustrated that image .. The country they marked Egypt is actually IRaq .. where are u from anyway ?? you dont know where they send your Troops do u ?!
because u r american (;
Then you’ve got a job at Fox News.
Back to school!
Hm, are you by any chance American?
and you wonder why we Europeans see you as stupid ?
. . . notice where egypt is. . . . .
a tad off
to the Europeans above: I’m American and I caught that. . .
I’m not gonna pretend I get it. I’m dumb. Can I guess? The map is mislabeled?
Yes u are dumb.
Egypt is located at East of Jordan and Israel. Iraq is where Egypt has been labered
Egypt is west of Jordan and Israel, in Northern Africa. The map is labeled Egypt where it is actually Iraq.
*labared
*lerbaled
*Facepalm*
*palm™face* – Putting your Palm phone into your face when one fails to understand something
OK now THAT is funny!
..mostly in the mid-east..
I have a hard time believing this isn’t shopped.
I second that, my shrubberish friend.
I don’t have a hard time believing they would do this. Isn’t Fox known for making stuff up anyway?
That’s basically all they’re known for.
Not basically. All.
Known for it, yes. But all news agencies make stuff up. They don’t actually care about the news, they just want views.
And this actually looks rather shopped. Fox isn’t always accurate… but they don’t misplace countries.
I don’t know, they’ve mislabeled politicians as being members of the wrong party, among other things. I could see this happening on Faux News.
I third that. And if it isn’t shopped, it’s very scary and very worrying.
Well we already knew that Fox is scary…………
..not to mention 21stC folks’ cartographical acumen..
They have a good excuse for that. The people working at Fox live on Planet America. Europ, Asia and Afrika don’t exist on the same level as far as they’re concerned.
“Europ”? “Afrika”? I can see why………..
Dr. Mario doesn’t realize that Fox, being an American company, has all the news writing outsourced to Asia.
Dr. Luigi? Please tell me that you are a doctor of Psychology……………….(luigi’s insane!)
You’ve got to be kidding me!
They really got your goat, huh?
Egypt fail?
oh i see now, Iraq is labeled as Egypt. lol
I guess those Republicans at Fox News don’t care about all that money we’re dumping into THEIR war in Iraq………….or about the riots in Egypt………….
Funny, i mean the US has been fighting there for what? 7 almost 8 years?
Makes sense that Fox still doesn’t know the name of the country where Saddam ruled and the US soldiers died since they never broadcast any news in the first place.
I know. This should be called Fox News Ignorance FAIL
Just another day of gettin’ ‘er done!
I’m pretty sure this was just a mistake–they don’t actually think Egypt is there.
I don’t get i… Egypt is supposed to be there?
..Egypt is Everywhere in the mid-east..i guess (?)..
Egypt is located at East of Jordan and Israel. Iraq is where Egypt has been labered
Stop saying labered! WTF??? “R” is nowhere near “L” on the keyboard!!! It took someone with ACTUAL SPELLING SKILLS for me to know WTF you guys were saying!
People can’t type anymore………….wait, strike that. People could never type.
*or spell*
I love my spellchecker. But hate the fact that it doesn’t give me alternatives. It just tells me that I’m wrong.
..Skyman will tell you you’re wrong..just type whatever u want, Avis..
Well I’m not on ALL the time, so he needs a permanent Grammar Nazi…………….
..sorry to cause an itch..
If you are unsure about ANYTHING, use it.
..Avis is a “she” no?..
..if not, sorry for gender-mis-recognition..it’s happened to me, too (thx Gert..only kidding)..
I am indeed a she.
More often than not, a spellchecker doesn’t tell you when you’re wrong; it usually ends up telling you that you spelled the wrong word correctly.
We ale so vely solly!
Wow, look at all the dumb people visiting this site.
*ignorant*
Do you know a thing called sarcasm?
btw, it took me a while to notice at first, that’s the meaning of my first post.
They put Egypt where Iraq is.
You know, I had to look up a map to make sure. But Iraq is labeled as Egypt. I guess the fail is that a huge news corporation couldn’t be bothered to verify that their graphic is correct before running it. That being said, I don’t think Fox News is a real news channel.
you fail if you had to look at a map
you fail again, Fox News does exist
I guess you should know where Egypt is but only because of all the news coverage about this region. But honestly I would also be thrown off to tell whether I was looking at Mali or Bukina Faso.
But a ‘news network’ should know. Exept of course if it is the advertising platform for the Republican Party.
Do Americans not study Geography in primary and high school? No wonder your education levels have sunk so far below the rest the world. Geez I thought my country’s education system was lousy.
actually we study geography in elementary, middle, and high school.
unfortunately, 20% of us gives the rest of us a bad name
I second that. It’s always the astonishing retards that get the attention. Don’t be distracted by shiny things or mistake Fails for the mode.
there ARE smart and intelligent people in america. they just decide to do something with their lives instead of going into politics and/or newscasting.
Sugar Honey Iced Tarts – I am a Canadian and didn’t know what was wrong with the map at first either. It isn’t a “self-centered American” symptom. And my IQ is 170. I just can’t keep Geography straight.
I’m in the UK, and its the same for me. I had no real idea where Egypt was. Its actually closer than I had assumed.
i understand the 20/80 thing but c’mon man you are fighting there for the last 8 years, thousands of US soldiers died there for the last 8 years, infact this is your 2nd war there in the last 25 years, and still 20% don’t know where iraq is????????? you need to look at the map???

And yes, I spelled Scholarly wrong. I didn’t notice my spelling error until I had already clicked Add Comment. It should be rectified at the moment.
A “war” by any other name is still a bunch of people in funny clothes bombing and shooting each other. Get a grip. The “Vietnam War” is called such because it was a war. Tanks and planes and machine guns in helicopters, artillary, snipers – that’s WAR. And you can shove your semantics
Right, when US get their ass kicked it’s conflict, when they don’t, it’s war.
Yes we do, but can we be expected to remember where EVERY single country is? Most of us don’t have a great need to know the exact layout of the middle east so we don’t necessarily recognize the fail right away. It’s simply that we’ve forgotten a few things since we learned them.

Just because there’s a war going on there doesn’t mean I look at a map of the area every day.
I’m American and I knew immediately what was wrong with the map. And I only just woke up, too.
and all the other major networks r advertising for the democratic party. news flash, all news is biased! no news station can air every story, so news stations air the ones that make their party look good. Fox happens to be the only conservative news station.
Sllim wasn’t disputing if Fox News exists, but whether its a factual news channel, or stuff they improv to make them and the right sound better.
By improv, do you mean improve or improvise? (to them, they could be doing either one)
..it’s good you ck’ed maps, but there’s something of a Fail in the fact you had to confirm where Egypt was..relying on supposed “news” sources (especially in the Interwebz age) is an at-your-own-risk proposition..
You had to look at a map.
Sorry, that’s a total, utter fail.
wow some people are idiots. And this has to be shopped.
I think the fact that so many people in this thread don’t see what the problem is, is strong support for the possibility that it’s *not* shopped.
Do you have any reason for thinking it is, other than the obviousness of the error?
That or everyone wants to believe it is because they don’t like Fox News
For all the people who don’t get it, here’s a map of the middle east.
http://ddc.aub.edu.lb/projects/archaeology/berytus44/maps/Middle_East98.jpg
Oh middle east? I thought you said middle earth.
Americans only know where USA is…….
..yah!..USofA is right around Texas, right now..it fluxes depending on the major story of the day..
(insert whatever nationality WTF is here)’s are so ignorant
http://articles.cnn.com/2006-05-02/politics/geog.test_1_map-geographic-knowledge-young-people?_s=PM:EDUCATION
with only 510 people tested, the chances of it being weighted is overwhelming. all they had to do is go to 1 crappy collage (probably in california) and tes 1/8 of the students with crappy grades.
Hey, don’t knock collage, it’s a legitimate art form.
*community collage
That’s even better because a bunch of people glued stuff together to make the community collage.
You’re the living proof that the study is most likely pretty accurate.
You do collages at your community? What do they look like?
^^That comment is pure WIN
Egypt is in Iraq? This spells trouble
It wasn’t shopped… FOX news had it on TV this weekend. Iraq is suppose to be where Egypt is labeled. Egypt is in the north east corner of Africa.
Um… being a “Classic” fail, this is an old screen cap. Stop making up stories JES.
You showed him………
JES, this classic was dug up from the archives because of it’s relevance to the riots in Egypt. It was not made because of them. Just look at the caption.
Fox is always a FAIL
Except in, you know, viewers and ratings.
(I’m no longer a Fox News watcher as their coverage is too slanted. I’m very conservative, but I like hearing opposing viewpoints to sharpen my debating skills).
Well I’m glad there exists such a thing as a conservative who listens to all sides. Now to find a liberal (other than me) that does the same………..
Yes, because ratings are a sure sign of quality news reporting. It’s NEVER because of pandering to the lowest common denominator.
Exactly. They NEVER do that
(Captain Sarcasm strikes again!)
It always slays me when conservatives point to MSNBC and claim that it is as slanted toward the left as Fox News is toward the right. Fox must LOVE that MSNBC is around for that reason.
Of course, like everything else on Fox News, it isn’t true…
They should change their name to Faux.
Which, you realize, sound nothing like Fox.
*sounds*
Which, you realize, is not necessary in order for the joke to work
According to the ‘kiek in the kok’ posters, it makes a huge difference.
But according to the torque pattern for the wheels on 69 – 70 mopars with left-hand-threaded lug nuts — oh wait, based on your completely unrelated post, I thought this was an “unrelated reference thread.”
Well this fail certainly seems to be the popular one!
How many people will say THE SAME DAMNED THING?
..no one will like you, Avis..
Not asking them to.
I like you. You are very funny.
Thank you.
i agree with skyman
When I get the chance of America-bashing or even better Fox News-bashing, I am in the front row.
I ♥ you, Avis!
:mistergreen:
*squeeze*
I hate it when that happens.
Will this work?
It worked!
*squeeze*
..”no one will “say the same DAMNED THING” like you, Avis..is what i meant..not liking in the friendly sort of way..
..sorry for being unclear..i do that a lot..
Actually, Egypt isn’t even part of the middle east.
There are different definitions of the “Middle East”, but traditionally it includes all nations from Egypt in the west to Iran in the east, and from Turkey in the north to the Arabian peninsula in the south.
oooh, i thought that Egypt is under Mexico
..close (same planet), but no cigar..
That’s not close at all. Judgement FAIL
Maybe try reading past the first word next time. Judgement on a judgement fail.
../sarcasm recognition fail/..
Thanks for recognitizing it
All Iraq’s Base Are Belong To Egypt
Iraq FAIL – Egypt WIN
..wait, that means all bases belong to US,right?..
And you guys went to war over there.
Fox news is more reliable then cnn or any other liberal news channel. WAIT! I guess that would be all of them :p
ZING!
Faux =/= Fox.
Faux is pronounced Foe.
French Fail.
And the British Conservative Party is the equivalent to the American Democratic Party.
Which makes Labour equivalent to what?
commies?
Ah yes. That famous Communist and ally of George W. Bush, Tony Blair.
Your assumption that those who call it “Faux News” believe that “faux” is pronounced “fox” is incorrect. There is no French fail here, just your understanding-the-joke fail. Je suis désolé.
It’s a common joke, and only morons don’t realize it’s based on the spelling alone.
(Also, the word is “than,” not “then.”)
Liberals at least know the difference between ‘then’ and ‘than’.
*facepalm*
heatmap of image changes: http://errorlevelanalysis.com/permalink/e4c065a/
every day i log on and ask myself: ‘why do i come to this website?’
but now i know: it’s to make me feel better about myself reading all the stupid people’s stupid comments.
who knew that there were so many morons in the world
Textsfromlastnight makes me feel SOOOOO much better about my life. If only by comparison.
This place, makes me sad sometimes.
Are you seriously back?
No. Just dropped around for old time’s sake and to see who was still here after all this time. Not nearly as crowded as it used to be. First time here since I was attacked.
Do you have food? It’s going to snow.
You weren’t attacked. You were called out on your deplorable behavior.
I get the feeling that you’ve said this before.
No wonder Egypt is having so many problems… it’s actually Iraq!
I was thinking with Egypt being the home to one of the seven wonders of the world (thats the Pyramids), the longest river in the world (just to clarify – that would be The Nile) and Sharm el-Sheikh (where everybody and their Granny now holidays), people might know it’s in Africa.
I should stop thinking.
..where is this ‘Africa’ of which you speak?..
This is an old photoshop
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/31/fox-news-cant-find-egypt-map_n_816540.html
If you read that article, it says that it MIGHT be a photoshop…they don’t know.
There are probably munks
didnt expect something else from stupid americans lol
I guess you are not american, then? Can you locate without hesitation Idao, Utah and Wyoming on a map? Just so you know: Wisconsin has a higher GDP than Hungary, California has more inhabitants and a higher GDP than the UK. So stop thinking americans are all stupid and I am soooo clever.
So you’re saying that Fox got something wrong?
Why the hell you say!!
lol a lot of dumb americans here!
Ever seen a world map???
I think that most of citizens of whatever country don´t know geography…, not only americans
(I am not from USA)
Probably true. But most people should really at least know that Egypt is in Africa.
Misplacing a country is understandable. Putting it in the wrong continent, however, is ridiculous.
…especially if you’re a news network responsible for informing the public.
…and ESPECIALLY if you’re currently at war with the country you’ve replaced!
No, you are bad at geography.
But yeah, they are all evil and should die, etc etc etc.
so true
I Bet Michelle Bachmann helped them with this.
This is like 2 1/2 years old. Was even on here http://failblog.org/2009/08/12/geography-fail-2/
This is my first post, I couldn’t not reply to this one.
Hence the prefix “Classic”.
Ah, ok. Now I know. I am relatively new to Failblog, but I should have figured that out.
come on… it’s Fox. They’re supposed to be dumb.
..as dumb as their detractors, at least..
..& i’d say that for any news network, just for the record..
This would be hilarious if it wasn’t so depressing!
Mr Silverman does well not to rise to the bait and to remain calm after that barrage of gibberish thrown at him.
As someone said, it might have been better for him if he didn’t have the Satan goatee thing going on.
that’s more of an insult to atheists than it is to Fox
“See, the water, the tide comes in and it goes out, Mr. Silverman. It always comes in, and always goes out. You can’t explain that.”
haha
Umm the moon maybe? This made my day. Epic.
Did Silverman not actually know that the moon causes tides? Or was he afraid the old guy would kick his a$$ if he exposed his ignorance?
Nah, he just let “teh stoopid” speak for itself.
Win on his part, IMO.
I don’t know what horrified me the most: the blatant ignorance required to draw such an abomination of a political map or the throngs of people that didn’t see the problem.
AMERICA, I AM DISSAPOINT.
Anyone else notice Africa, where actual Egypt is, shows the border outlines of California, Utah, Nevada, and Arizona?
So the fail is how easily people will believe anything negative about Fox News?
Not that they’re not garbage (as is all U.S. cable news), but given the rampant hatred of Fox News, I find this more likely to be shopped than anything else.
Seriously? Every news channel makes mistakes. And yet I don’t see them up on the board.
Seriously? You’ve never ever seen another news channel fail in this entire blog?
You must not have been reading very long.
I haven’t, ever. It’s always fox.
I don’t like fox anymore than the others, but this site really is slanted towards liberal. Just head on over to Pundit Kitchen and say “i have conservative views” and watch as you get torched to hell.
Was it shopped? Dunno. Did Media Matters run it incorrectly?
http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/200907270040
About as bad as Obama getting Iraq and afghanistan mixed up.
If you’ve ever had anything bad to say about Egypt, say it now while their internet is still off.
It’s fake but thanks for playing.
just another shopped image…ay fail…do you guys even examine the pics coming in…look at the pixels that are all stamped where “egypt” should be….
http://failbook.failblog.org/2011/01/31/funny-facebook-fails-staying-current/#comments
According to this guy Egypt is extinct (as well as Greece, Rome and Narnia(wtf?!?) so how could you all know where it was in the before time? eH? have you been studying archaeology or something?
Fox just wants to stir up anger
The real question: would Sarah Palin know that there was a mistake?
Of course she would. She can see Egypt from her house.
You do know that the “see Russia from my front porch” quote was from Tina Fey, not Sarah Palin. Don’t you?
Most people do not.
Nice photoshop.
Obvious “shop” job. Note the difference in the color of land, also, the style of type!
Just wait, Fox is a comedy channel right?
OMG…
Sorry guys… Are Americans really so dumb?
Do you really have to ask that?
I might have failed geography but at least I know where Egypt is.
I hope that makes you proud Dr. W (:
Soooooooo, where’s the fail?
Well, I don’t get it.
Is this about Moobella again?
Why a map of yourasia?
About what you’d expect from Fox.
Well, most americans cant even locate the USA in the world map, I don´t really blame them for ignoring where Egypt is.
I’d like you to back that up with evidence where a study was taken showing every single american a globe and pointing to the U.S. I can guarantee you almost every single one of us can locate the U.S. on a world map, i have NO clue where people always pull this from but it’s utter crap.
I didn’t read the comments but this is fake. It was all over twitter pretty fast.
i’m too Secy for this fail
This is why I get my news from Stewart & Colbert!
ARGHH!! Sorry POS network! God, I hate them! My ass can present the news better than them!
nice
if you believe this hasn’t been photoshopped, you’re clearly retarded. The fonts are different and the pixelation is different. Good try though.
what made me laugh was the fact that IRAN is in BIG BOLD type, it’s like saying don’t worry about the smaller fonts guys IRAN is next..
*snickers*
So you’re saying that Fox got something wrong?
Why the hell you say!!
No one has noticed that Iran is Central Asia and not the middle east…
I’m really losing my hope to humanity when reading all those comments from grown-ups who don’t get this. I mean, here in Finland even every ten-year-old would know what’s wrong with that map
Go usa!
It’s actually kind of scary that the one country with the biggest army is the one country with stupidest people…
I think stupidity is equally distributed all around the world. Our stupid people are just louder then those in Finland.
Well they have their on national TV network, being louder has never been simpler.
Yeah I agree. But it is a problem if the country where the loudest stupid people are also the stupid people in control…..
Not hatin’ really, it just makes me kinda sad.
Americans…proving that idiocracy is more than just a bad movie.
not in southamerica?
No…North America…
It took me a bit, but I got it.
LOL. Stupid Fox News is stupid fail.
Well considering that a large percentage of Americans consider a comedian to be a serious journalist, you can understand that society is pretty close to rock-bottom.
that’s because said comedian is more reliable than most news shows.
so they labeled iraq as egypt and they included iran in the middle east when its part of asia ..nothing new from the world’s #1 fail news channel
Which, you realize, is not necessary in order for the joke to work.
Sorry; my browser messed up and ignored my click of the “Reply” link. Stupid, leaky Firefox!
Fox news fail… Firefox fail… I’m seeing a pattern here…
Is this an actual image from a Fox News broadcast? I guess that having Sarah Palin on their team is finally starting to show its influence. And just think about the influence this has on kids! Then again, if they’re watching Fox News, it’s probably already too late.
So what? It’s just a simple graphic-department-error. And nobody in the workflow give it second look. That’s all folks!
NO.it´s a freud-like fault. It shows how Fox is. They just don´t CARE and they have no clue!that is the problem!
Almost as funny as rachel maddow running a story as satirical as something the the onion would publish as true, or chris matthews stating that the panama canal was located in egypt, or chuck schumer misstating the three branches of government (all of which happened within the last week). Good times.
If you’re reading this, we both need to get a life.
Damn, you’re right. Maybe we found one on ebay or Amazon…
Only in America.
Seriously.
Serves Fox right for hiring right brained graphics art interns! “But it looks prettier” Cetrtainly not geography majors
the problem here is the world, too much complicated. it should be just the US and the rest water. maybe we can preserve australia because its pretty big an isolated so its easy to place in a map and yeah, they speak english, also its a vast continent full of nothing so we can fulfill it with some interesting things from the rest of the world like paris… wait, not necessary, we already did it in las vegas.
HAHHAHHHA I get that’s a no brainer fox put egypt in the wrong place egypt is not part of the “middle east” EGYPT IS IN AFRICA hahahahaha
FOX NEWS!!!! they fail epicly anytime
It seems egypt can do wat america couldnt.
KICK IRAQS ASS!!!!
