  1. thabigcheesy says:

Umm. A Bobcat is not a snow plow. Sure you can use it as one, but you see the outcome.

    • True. The fail was trying to use it as a snow plow.

      • doobidoobidoo says:

Wait. This thing is halfway in the ditch… wouldn’t the outcome be the same if you drive a snowplow here? Or do snowplows float over snow and that’s why using a bobcat is a fail?

        • thabigcheesy says:

Generally, vehicles pushing a snow blade are full size vehicles, like pickups, dump trucks, etc. And as such are MUCH wider than a Bobcat. The blade itself is usually at least 8 ft wide. So yea, trying to use a Bobcat to push snow, is pretty much a dumbs**t move. ;)

        • me says:

I’m pretty sure the point wasn’t to plow the ditch. Some driver is just an idiot, or this was intentional.

          • doobidoobidoo says:

So, I’ve learned that this is a double fail because:

            1) plowing snow with a bobcat is not efficient
            2) driving anything into a ditch is a fail

    • Shipoopi says:

      that

    • Rehcsif says:

Do you live at the equator? People use Bobcats to plow snow all the time.

      • Creamsun says:

Bobcat is a light piece of vehicle. It’s like you never so one in real action. These mini tractors tend to wheelie on their back wheels.

        • Boiler says:

I don’t know about Bobcat, but МКСМ-800 (Russian analog) plow snow on parking near my house every night when snowing.

        • DDave says:

I came *very* close to having a wheelie go right over, upside down in one of these. Actually, a bigger model. It kind of balanced on the back wheels for a couple of seconds, while I didn’t breath.

          • libis says:

I’ve seen the same sort of thing happen to a bobcat in mud. It took half the afternoon and another bobcat along with chains and a bunch of people to get it out.

        • Rehcsif says:

I’m not sure what the heck you’re saying. I grew up in farm country and am very familiar with what a Bobcat is and how it handles. Now I live in the city, in snow country, and can tell you that a Bobcats are used to remove snow all the time (usually from commercial parking lots).

          • Rehcsif says:

If a bobcat can lift several tons of gravel at a time (and it can, as the local garden center uses one to load up trailers full of landscape rock) then it sure as hell isn’t going to be overtaxed with a little snow.

    • sandy va-jean says:

Just so you know it is quite common to use bobcats to remove snow. In Canada we have these things called sidewalks, and it’s really hard for the big trucks to plow them without ruining everyone’s front lawn. So what happens is a bobcat does it. They are equipped with either a blower or a wedge plow which easily passes through the snow. I personally witnessed a bobcat traveling through 3′ of snow yesterday. I know it is really hard to believe for you people who have never seen snow. Just imagine it is like sand or mud, but lighter. This guy just went over an edge he shouldn’t have. Is this LOC? Clarke Rd. maybe?

      • Duaner says:

Same thing here in Ottawa. They use Bobcats and similar little one-maned vehicles to do the sidewalks, salt/sand and all. I figure they’ve been counterbalanced to prevent the things from falling forward all the time.

      • RJ says:

In America, we shovel our sidewalks… or use a snow blower.

It also never snows in America. This is fact….

      • expertonbobcats says:

You must be wrong. Someone put the word fail on this picture. Therefore, if it had ever happened before that would also be a fail. Ergo, there are no sidewalks in Canada. Quid pro quo.

    • Unfailed says:

This is not a snow plow. A plow is a blade mechanism designed to push aside a substance by forward motion.

A Bobcat is a light skid steer loader. It’s no more a snow plow than a backhoe is.

      • Seb says:

Its almost universal to re-purpose earth moving machines for snow duty during the winter in northern climates, since you can’t do construction during the winter and will need to move HEAVY mounds of snow. You can’t always just “push it aside.” Sometimes there so much of it you need to pile it all up in one corner or some such.

I live in Minneapolis, and see those things all over the place during the winter. True, the city uses “real” plows (actually mini-tractors with rotary brushes) for sidewalks, but most private companies use Bobcats (which can be re-purposed during the summer), and do just fine. Even the city uses bobcats for cleaning up intersections after the bigger plows clean the streets. Hell, they use a full sized front end loader to do my alley!

The “Fail” here is the idiot who didn’t put any railing, berm, bumper, or flags at the edge of that dropoff. Unlike some of the commentors here, they don’t even have the excuse of never having seen a real snowfall.

    • karl says:

      Are you stupid?

people use bob cat’s as plows all the time,

sooo many landscaping companies prefer bobcats as they work alot better on snow and ice compared to a stupid little commercial mower with a brush or blower attachment on it…

  2. dopple says:

    Slow plow to the rescue.

  3. dej says:

    w00t, a strange tractor!

  4. LadyCaca11 says:

Well this happens when you send a kid to do a man`s job

  5. Jero says:

    obviously, not mister Plow!

  6. phoreal says:

    AHAHA..HAHA..haha…ha…meh

  7. Sam says:

In Soviet Russia, Snow Plows YOU!

    /obligatory

  8. Holy DonkeyKong says:

    … That’s not really a Fail, cuz it aint a snowplow…
    … Sorry

  9. kmartb says:

Well where I come from we get loads of snow. I would like to see you guys clear side walks with a snowplow. Oh wait you CANT!!! Bobcats are used for places where snowplows don’t like parking lot corners and such. Easy to get stuck if one tire digs in. Not a fail this happens a lot.

  10. Oceanwave says:

Driver fail. No Snow Plow here. Yes, that is how we clear our snowy sidewalks in Canada

  11. tim says:

    I saw this!
this is a sidewalk plow that slid off the sidewalk. i saw it on my way home from work on monday. London Ontario got hit with 3 feet of snow and counting, and this guy lost his way

  12. Masivigny says:

It would be funny if it was a gif with a fat guy in the snow plow

  13. John says:

Seriously…how does some of this s**t make it on the site??? I thought things had to be voted on to be on here. This is just another stupid picture that doesn’t deserve to be on here.

  14. Herillio says:

Bobcats can handle this sort of work just fine. That’s the result of an inexperienced operator. Bobcat has several attachments for snow removal. It’s hard to tell from this angle, but he doesn’t appear to have the standard bucket attachment.

  15. petahhh says:

    That has happened to me.

I live in a somewhat rural area and after a wicked blizzard, the graders work from the city centers outward (main trunk roads being the exception, they are always kept pretty clear).

Anyway, since I only had a couple miles to go before the trunk line, I figured I’d be the neighborhood hero and clear the way from our subdivision.

The snow had blown five foot windrows across the road in some places and the ditches were indistinguishable from the road. I was 3/4 of the way done when all of a sudden… I slid into white quick sand.

    Son of a…!

  16. lordorwell says:

why is everyone assuming he’s stuck? These things are pretty hard to get stuck, period. He probably went for a lunch break. I’ve seen people do wheelies on these things. And as for the backhoe comment, they make a backhoe attachment for them as well.

  17. Gakl says:

thats a win for the future

  18. karl says:

bobcats are used all the time in Canada for removing snow, hell you can ever get an effective rotary broom attachment for it…

I would rather drive a bob cat over the Kubota, or John deere commercial tractor with a brush…
