Possibly, but it seems to be in about the worst kind of taste, the worst kind of public image, and the very last thing you would want an aspiring pilot to see. I mean, I know this is Failblog, but as a sign, it’s a bigger Fail than an accident!
Unless it’s for something like the “Jon-Jon Kennedy Flight School,” then it’s hilarious.
This is a rerun… why do you think it is good to post reruns failblog, you have plenty of other content. Showing these reruns on other than friday rewind is fail. That must be why this is FAIL BLOG, its a blog that is fail.
The plane didn’t actually crash into the tree or else it would’ve been absolutely totaled. It looks like it was put there for decoration but no one took care of the tree and it grew threw.
even if it was a crashed plane, thats not ironic. It would only be ironic if that was a place for expert pilots to fly. You wouldn’t call it ironic if someone learning to ride a bicycle, crashed his bicycle would you?
Not photoshopped. Real. Not that ironic really, and it was a little bit amusing the first time I saw it several years ago. The pilot survived just fine as he didn’t impact the tree at a very high speed.
It’s ironic when you are not looking at the possible and relevant facts – If there’s a school nearby, and someone crashed a plane into that tree, it is highly possible that a student of the school crashed this plane.
I think this is among the most vital information for me. And i’m glad reading your article. But wanna remark on some general things, The website style is great, the articles is really excellent : D. Good job, cheers
Hi there, You have done a great job. I’ll definitely digg it and personally recommend to my friends. I am confident they’ll be benefited from this website.
Hey, he was heading in the right direction!
If he wanted to learn how to fly from gnomes.
its not really irony just a coincidence but still funny
Irony =/= Tragic Coincidence
But Irony is the reversal of expectetions, you would expect that near an aviation school people could fly planes well….
Anyway… This might be the first usage of the wirdIrony on FailBlog that is actually correct.
Your use of the word wird was incorrect.
Also I’d like to state that the tree already grew on the plane. Which means the plane was there for a while and they left it there as cool decoration.
botanics knowledge fail……. that tree has at least 60 years, how do you think they had a cessna plane 60 years ago, time travel perhaps?
look at the left wing, it’s broken by the branch, and there’s security tape around it, clearly and accident IMO
Looks like a Beechcraft to me. Tail number is N3487-J, I’ll look for a database.
http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/NNum_Results.aspx?NNumbertxt=3487J
Cessa 150G
“De-registered” on 8/23/1990
cessna, would recognized a mile away, had my share of hours in a 182…. good ol’ days
Cessnas are a high wing…this is a piper cherokee of some sort. possibly an arrow
This is a restaurant somewhere. I forget the restaurant, but it was planted there.
does it seem to anybody else that that’s there as a prop?
stop ruining our fails!
That is definately a Win
LOL! This is not a prop. I know where this picture was taken. It is funny…
it seems to me that that’s there as a prop
double comment win!
It was an actual incident. The guy was flying a Cherokee, lost power, turned to land on a road and crashed into the tree. He survived amazingly
Ok, you’re still wrong. The plane was placed there. It’s just some pilot humor.
Kudos on knowing what type of plane it was though.
Haha, thanks
It is!
THE INTERNET IS NOT FOR RERUNS.

Do you promise to never come back?
*looks hopeful*
Looks like clever advertising to me.
*joins the ten foot high club*
Genius.
Yes but if a plane actually crashed into a tree, it wouldn’t look like that… sorry! This isn’t irony, it’s a gag.
Nor would it look like an artichoke.
This is a rerun… why do you think it is good to post reruns failblog, you have plenty of other content. Showing these reruns on other than friday rewind is fail. That must be why this is FAIL BLOG, its a blog that is fail.
Why does being Friday make it OK?
i think this is at Nashville…
The plane didn’t actually crash into the tree or else it would’ve been absolutely totaled. It looks like it was put there for decoration but no one took care of the tree and it grew threw.
“it would’ve been absolutely totaled.”
The tree or the plane? D:
the plane was obviously put up there, it is in good condition
Maybe they figure that if a person is still willing (and eager) to learn to fly after passing that sign, then they have the right mind frame.
The pilot was high…
Not high enough.
I’d argue that this is only because the tree was higher.
even if it was a crashed plane, thats not ironic. It would only be ironic if that was a place for expert pilots to fly. You wouldn’t call it ironic if someone learning to ride a bicycle, crashed his bicycle would you?
Yay, found the snopes:
http://www.snopes.com/photos/airplane/flightschool.asp
Obviously photoshopped
It is real, it happened just east of Colorado Springs on RT24 at a small airport.
Not photoshopped. Real. Not that ironic really, and it was a little bit amusing the first time I saw it several years ago. The pilot survived just fine as he didn’t impact the tree at a very high speed.
Plane tree house?
Its Just Like ” Learn to Fly Here” & Here is the example for the fine result for emergency landing.. at least you’ll not crash to death.. LOL!
I’d have to see more photo’s but this looks plausable. Might be photoshopped, but these aircraft are extremely sturdy and without an explanation ?????
I feel like I’ve seen this picture about 20 times on failblog.
Maybe more.
It’s so easy to photoshop images. Then the gullible anti-American idiots latch on to it.
even if the plane had really crashed and wasn’t planted there, it would be an irony win.
That there’s a prop plane.
Don’t mix me up, or I’ll have to throttle you.
Way to land that one
That became a prop plane after it crashed, you dummies
It’s ironic when you are not looking at the possible and relevant facts – If there’s a school nearby, and someone crashed a plane into that tree, it is highly possible that a student of the school crashed this plane.
Methinks ’tis a win.
snopes says it is true, and I think I can trust them.

I think this is among the most vital information for me. And i’m glad reading your article. But wanna remark on some general things, The website style is great, the articles is really excellent : D. Good job, cheers
Ive seen it in person before, and its just a joke. Its not an actual crash.
isn’t that a predator drone on the sign?
Older than the Internet.
Repost. Also, not a fail if it was put there purposely as a joke. Failblog fail.
Is that the same flying school that trained the 9/11 terrorists?
‘Tis.
I see the problem…he had a flying licence but no parking permit.
It’s real. Here’s what the NTSB says
http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/brief.asp?ev_id=20070117X00059&key=1
Now we know where Launchpad McQuack learned to fly.
Learn to fly here… but don’t come in a plane!!!!!!
check the date….
http://failblog.org/2008/02/04/flying-lessons/
This is photoshopped.
I can tell by the pixels and the way the plane and the tree are planes and trees respectively.
No, you’re photoshopped!!
its a tree which flied
thats what u get when u go gerbil watching in a plane
Either it’s shopped or it’s a very WIN prop.
