» 86 Failures in Communication

  1. Anonymofo says:

    Yeah,

that’s about right for a church.

  2. Loler says:

How did they not catch that when naming the place?

    • Ryu Darragh says:

That’s likely not the name. Those kinds of banners are all over New Haven Connecticut because Yale College is there. I think this is deliberate and probably not what the owners of the facility wanted. As Clodoveo says “This is totally a WIN” :D

  3. clodoveo says:

    This is totally a WIN

  4. dp says:

    What the fudge?

  5. ClariPossum says:

Oh, dear… here’s hoping they only just put those signs up, LoL…

  6. homelessgirl says:

Nope, I believe this is a WIN

  7. andresdkl says:

    That´s a WIN god damnit

  8. goodenuf says:

    No, it’s “Way Too Funny”

  9. This is totally says:

    a win…

    WHAT THE EFF??!!

  10. Lyndsay says:

    Oh yeah, that’s a WIN.

  11. Figaro says:

    WIN WIN WIN!

  12. mr. purple cat esq. says:

    yeah, accuracy win!

  13. Jeff says:

I’ve seen this elsewhere. It was quickly corrected to exchange the first and last banner, FTW.

  14. Jonny says:

If they had the brains to reverse it, they’d have “FTW” = “For The Win” (OK FINE or “F$*@ The World”, go away…)

    • agarcia says:

FTW??? haha seriously? that would be friends teaching worship. and that is not what happens at Wake! We are happy it gets everyones attention. You should come sometime! You would really like it

  15. Carly says:

    Love you, UNM

  16. Charles says:

My fellow clergymen, this is why it’s important to stay aware of popular culture and not become so totally immersed in your subject that you make a fool of yourself and your message says the opposite to the generation you need to convert if your faith is to stay viable. That is to say, DUDE, WHAT THE F*CK!!

  17. Dorian says:

    Fail? Seriously?

    This is totally a WIN

  18. JJtoob says:

    L
    O
    L
    W
    U
    T

  19. this is an intentional marketing scheme by the church. google them and you will find it out.

  20. Skinnymac says:

Reminds me of a church near where I live. They have this acronym FTL, which stands for “For the Lord”. Needless to say I can’t look at it without thinking it’s “for the loss”. It’s everywhere to, on peoples cars, those little rubber bracelets.

    • catbunny says:

also the letters found on many underwears (Fruit of the Loom)
“dood! my underwear is Faster Than Light!”

Eh.. it’s all For The Lols. :)

  21. RKO says:

hey this is good, at least it is so different from all the other churches that it will probably stand out!

  22. The Sot says:

Yeah, it’s not very funny when it’s intentional.
    http://www.wakewtf.com/
Their “slogan,” if you will, is even “WTF is Wake.” They’re trying to be edgy. I wish the powers that be would do a bit more research before throwing these out into the ether.

    • agarcia says:

Did you notice that “WTF is Wake” is a statement not a question???? IT was not meant to be funny either. It was meant to catch peoples eyes, and apparently it did!

  23. Ford says:

They should reverse those banners. Then instead of spelling out What The F*$%, they could spell out For The Win!

  24. Elfinugget says:

    My thoughts exactly… >.<

  25. Ben says:

I am calling trolling on this one. It’s too good to be true, each banner seems much more normal if you imagine it without the letter at the top of each one, and this could of easily been doctored. The letters are just too out of place. Look at them, they’re black, every other letter on that banner is white.

    • Max says:

Here’s the thing Ben. This is the North face of the Student Union Building on the University of New Mexico campus. This is from the student worship group WAKE (The past week they’ve been giving out ramen and raffling off other dorm-worthy goods). I’m amused and astounded they used WTF to encourage people joining their organization and services. No troll. True life. WTF.

  26. Deadbeat says:

what the hell guys, this is such a win. i laughed so hard.

  27. David says:

Ha Ha! this is from my college! it was in the school news paper! glad it made it on here!

  28. SilverSheilds says:

If it were backwards it would be a bigger win

  29. vernoes says:

lol i see these things every day. im in tai crap do and im a 3rd degrede black belt and then wtf is world ticrapdo federation

  30. Eddie says:

A: Leave it to the church to be completely out of touch with the real world. Trust me, I’ve spent my entire life in church.

B: Leave it to New Mexico to be completely stupid in all facets of life. Trust me, I live in Albuquerque.

  31. Tamemister says:

I fail to see the fail…..

  32. Zacny says:

    Fail? WIN :D

  33. Didi says:

dear faiblog, stop posting obvious wins as fails. thank you

  34. Three3 says:

This shows why the high minded need to have a few representatives of the low minded on their staff!

  35. Wetpixels says:

Religion – The Jokes on you.

  36. Bozzy89 says:

    hahahahahahahahahahaha lmao!

  37. A says:

This is religion, so WTF is not a fail, it’s a win!

WTF is the best way to describe my reaction when I was 5 and my parents told me there’s a guy up there in the clouds who has all kinds of magic powers.

WTF was also my reaction when I gave praying a shot but found Santa was way better at getting me what I asked.

    So WIN.

  38. Lee says:

No no. If they were cool in any way, they would have gone with FTW….for the win.

  39. Jared says:

And they say God has no sense of humor

  40. DraGonflY_27z says:

    Banner WIN

  41. Kris says:

This was on purpose. Please see this article. They were trying to draw attention to the college students. http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/churchmarketing/~3/QLy3_FxGWrE/

  42. Stevani says:

Oh…………….. I would like to hang those banners out on my porch

  43. Trevor says:

Maybe they were trying to redeem the acronym.

  44. The0HN0ES says:

    This is such a win…

  45. cho says:

Lol, this is at my school, UNM, put up by a visiting church group on the SUB. FAIL!

  46. that chick says:

    Wednesday
    Thursday
    Friday! :D

  47. MrAmPm says:

    FTW would be so WINRAR

  48. Phoenix Borealis says:

This seems more like a WIN than a FAIL to me.

  49. Carol says:

Hey guys. I’m actually a leader for this college group. We are a progressive college Christian group located in Albuquerque, NM.

I just wanted to comment back so everyone could know our side. These banners are correct, and not doctored. The WTF is on purpose. We are about attracting the attention of college age students – something hard to do in this day and age. As you can see, we are redefining the abbreviation Worship Teaching Friends. We use the slogan to catch their attention, and then invite them to church. Our marketing has been getting a lot of viral internet attention as of late – which is exactly what we intended!

If you’d like more information, please visit our website:
    http://wakewtf.com

    Thanks guys!!

    • T42 says:

“Worship Teaching Friends.” – WTF? maybe worship, teaching & friends but I sure won’t be worshipping your teaching friends.

    • Lisa says:

      Carol,
Get a clue. You are a laughing stock. You don’t get to redefine a cultural phrase just because you don’t like it. This is getting you a lot of attention, yes. But even Lindsay Lohan is learning that not all publicity is good publicity.

But OTOH, thanks for the belly laugh! It made my day!

  50. vziera says:

a fail attempt to be cool

  51. Aleksander says:

    That is a win.

  52. LOL MEISTER says:

I agree with Aleksander. I think this should be a win.

  53. joo says:

They just messed up the order. It’s supposed to be Friends, Teaching, and Worship. FTW.

  54. nensondubois says:

    Oh I’m definitely bookmarking this.

  55. Oreo-Luver98 says:

    HAHAHA. WIN!!! ha!

  56. Troy says:

    That’s a WIN!

  57. jayembee says:

TOTAL WIN!! A nice chuckle for atheists everywhere. ;)

  58. whatshisname says:

Total win!!! By far the funniest thing i have seen XD

  59. miguel says:

    thats a WIN

  60. michael271 says:

    Disgusting.
Really? That’s the best way to reach college kids? How bout telling your leaders to quit sleeping around and participating in homosexual activities? Ever think that might be more effective in drawing others to Christ than mere shock value?
