I MUST ADMIT THAT THIS IS A VERY DELICATE AND SKILLED WORK OF ART THAT IS OVERSHADOWED BY THE FACT THAT IT HAS BEEN ATTEMPTED AND SUCCESSFULLY MIMICKED OVER 9000 TIMES.
No seriously, this is cool but it has been done too much, which in turn recedes the coolness to under 0.9000%.
It looks like Mario is making love to the orange soda. Mmm.. orange makes me so hawnee I love to shove fruit up me poopie hole and launch it like a rocket!!!
I’m not sure the PepsiCo is going to be happy with this. Considering good money goes into getting that prime spot on the floor and they are quite particular about the arrangement. Then, with all the attention it would get, they might just love it.
Pepsi and Coke have been doing displays like this for years, with different themes and cross-promotions with other companies/organizations. They’re usually done with empty boxes, btw.
Not saying it isn’t cool, just – as others have pointed out – old.
This was actually at a Schnuck’s in Champaign (aka The University of Illinois). I was there visiting over the weekend and I, too, have the exact same picture on my phone. Very cool to see!
Considering Pepsi had a deal with Nintendo in the 80s I think and they’re remaking the Diner commercial (Diner 2pointZero) this could only mean one thing: Pepsi’s gone RETRO!
Hi, just wanted to pop in to say that this was actually done in a Schnucks store in Champaign, Illinois. I’m the manager that spearheaded the whole thing from coordinating the time and space, convincing Pepsi to do it, and getting them to give us and the other local Schnucks stores a Wii to do customer giveaways. I’ve wanted to do this for over a year, and finally we had a chance to do it, so I laid it out and had Pepsi build it. It is true that this has been done before in other stores, but nothing like this has been done in our general region. We’re used to seeing orange and blue block “I”s for the Illini teams, but we wanted to do something big and different. Sadly, Mario didn’t make that final leap over the chasm today, as he was tore down to build something new…
Awesome!
It only could have been done because they could count every single pixel in super mario!:D
Haha, either way it’s awesome! Imagine getting paid to make that??

While the Mario-in-odd-items thing has been overdone, the stupid freaking “OVAR 9000!!!11one” has been overdone a LOT more.
Very true.
But I still love it.
It’s a nostalgia thing…
…..you mean .9%?
beside Luigi with 7-up would be a masterpiece
To hell with Luigi.
Most of you only talk about him because of Youtube videos anyway.
peach ftw
Very true. Adding Luigi would be epic. But what about Peach?
Night shift is telling management they’re bored again.
Xactly. Unfortunately, I’m not quite sure it constitutes an “Effective Use of Work-Time FAIL”…
exactly, how is this a fail?
It looks like Mario is making love to the orange soda. Mmm.. orange makes me so hawnee I love to shove fruit up me poopie hole and launch it like a rocket!!!
I wish that we had so much spare time when I was on nightshift in a supermarket
they must have an easy boss!
This is actually my local store! I have a picture almost exactly like this. They’re giving away a Wii, which is the reason behind the display.
I told my boss at the store where I work that we need to talk the Pepsi guy into doing this!
what store is this? northern california by any chance?
Champaign, IL
old!
Thought this was already on here?
actually no. this looks to be a competition between grocery stores. the other one didn’t have the mystery box, and was right by the front door.
Please, I beg of you, stop the madness!
*Looks for Dragon to tell me the fail is in another castle*
“What you are looking for is not here”
*Waves Hand*
*takes a white case*
“Cleanup on aisle six!”
He’s after the orange soda question mark box
The only way this could be better: goombas from root beer cases.
Koopa limeade, for the lolz.
best WIN E-V-E-R!!!!
Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, caffeine free Pepsi, and Crush. But I can’t figure out what the red/goldish box is?
Dr. Pepper, the sweet, sweet nectar of the gods. Oh, wait … that’s Nyquil.
Hahahah! Nyqui. . .Zzzzzzzzz
cherrypepsi
Are you talking about in the ? box? I think it’s Mt. Dew Livewire.
Dr. Pepper
This might be a stupid question, but could this be considered copyright infringement?
Trademark infringement*
omg, another law troll… nuttin to do at the office today hu?
I’m sorry, I didn’t read the first phrase, YES, it is an stupid question.. good night!
Holy Sh** EPIC!
Walkin see this what do?
This is Genius!
…No, this is no Genius, is Nintendo…
If my math is right… this thing is like 14 feet high… thats pretty epic for what it is.
Bananas!!!!
I give 110% for marketing and thought savvy, to who ever came up with that idea!! Brilliant!!!
This is one the best wins ever!!
I’m not sure the PepsiCo is going to be happy with this. Considering good money goes into getting that prime spot on the floor and they are quite particular about the arrangement. Then, with all the attention it would get, they might just love it.
Considering it’s the Pepsi rep who does the displays, I think they’re fine with it.
Too Old!! Do not want!

This was actually at a Schnuck’s in Champaign (aka The University of Illinois). I was there visiting over the weekend and I, too, have the exact same picture on my phone. Very cool to see!

Epic facepalm is epic
Mario “Pop” Art ftw!
This indeed is a win!
Considering Pepsi had a deal with Nintendo in the 80s I think and they’re remaking the Diner commercial (Diner 2pointZero) this could only mean one thing: Pepsi’s gone RETRO!
Yeah, but eventually somebody’s gonna need one of the 12-packs in this display and everyone’s going to glare at them for ruining it!
Wow. That’s my local County Market.
the store employee who did this deserves a promotion for creativity.
person who did this deserves a promotion for creativity
Pixel art has reached a whole new dimension…
He had too much free time!!! But he prolly had practice!
