She was a teacher who was forced to quit when she got married back in the 1910s. Back in the ‘Good Ole Days’ female teachers had to quit when they wed.
That’s cool but there are so many other ways they could have gone with the name of the school. Like P. Kidd, Pansy Ingle, Ingle Kidd, even Pansy Ingle Kidd.
Yes, we have a giant pansy flower that comes out on the field and waves in the wind– No, we’re the raiders. I WAS one. Now I’m a pirate at the high school ftw.
Lol. Their football team goes out on the field and their opponents are calling them pansy kids, they’re opponents’ fans are calling them pansy kids, their fans are calling them pansy kids, even the announcer is calling them pansy kids!
Now this is just stupid… if you have a man or woman that you want to name your school after, just use the entire name, not just Pansy or Stalker… damn, americans are brainless
You are correct. Every American unanimously voted to name the school this. We all got together, and all 300 million of us decided this would be the name of the school. It was not just one small group of a few people that did it. It was the entire nation.
Pansy Kidd Middle School–The name of our school originated back in the early nineteen hundreds. In 1912 a lady named Pansy Ingle Kidd came to Poteau. She was a graduate of Indiana University with a Masters’ Degree in English and Library Science. Pansy Ingle became a third grade teacher until 1915 when she married Frank Kidd. Since a regulation of the 1915 school board was not to hire married female teachers, she had to quit teaching. Pansy did not teach again until 1921 when the regulation was finally changed. For 40 years she taught with all her heart, and was called by many, “Dean of Poteau’s Teachers.” Mrs. Kidd taught whatever her superintendent needed her to teach. During her tenure she was a teacher of Science, Math, and English, Librarian, Counselor, and Principal. She organized the beginning of the Junior High School. This same school was later named in honor of Mrs. Kidd. Pansy Kidd taught for 42 years, and retired in 1960. She lived in Poteau until her death in 1978. Our school is indeed proud to be named for such an outstanding educator. The following plaque hangs in the hallway of Pansy Kidd Middle School.
This does not change the fact that the students of this school must get beaten up on a regular basis. That, or they are indeed badass and can live with the stigma.
@metalcraze
Mrs. Pansy Kidd may very well have been the outstanding lady you say, but none of the kids attending this school are happy to be called “pansy kidds”. I went there, my friends went there and it sucked. SUCKED
I went there… no one ever seemed to give a crap about the name… middle school always blows no matter what the name is… also… we were never called “pansy kidds”
On a similar note, during one of comedian Ronnie Corbett’s “armchair” moments, he joked that he went to a soft school for soft kids – St Pansy’s Primary.
yeah Raiders! Raiders Den was cool (school store), but come on! I was just reminded of the chants the cheerleaders had to do.”Up with PMS” over and over?
This brings to mind the German law that requires parents to submit names for their children for APPROVAL bwfore making it official. Public buildings like school should have to go through this process and perhaps the school could have been name Pansy Ingle Kidd.

Is it a stuck up private school for wusses with no social skills that are ”special” and would be beaten to a pulp by the other social outcasts as soon as the walk through the door of a public school? Just kidding! I feel sorry for you guys.
excuse me i go to this school and i am offended lets watch u come to this school and deal with some of us as a 6 foot 13 year old girl and a bball player lets see you take some of us
I went to school here at Pansy Kidd Middle School. No she didn’t pay anything except her time and dedication. Yeah it was awkward going to “Pansy-Land” ( as it was named by students) but we all had a good time. It is the name of a school. Not a fail. We didn’t fail. We went from Pansy Kidd Raiders to Poteau High Pirates. We grew and learned. As a former student of a great establishment, I would greatly appreciate if everyone (American and not) would simply respect my school and the memories it holds.
Who is the is he/she in the pic??? Whom ever u are why put this on this site??? I don’t see the FAIL – please have the brass ones to explain who u are and why……. If you don’t, then you only WISH you the guts of a PANSY KIDD!!!!!!

I was in a classroom there ounce and all of the teachers books where mysteriously pushed off of the desk while I was in there. nobody else but me.
As a student that goes to Pansy Kidd Middle School i am offended by what some people are saying on here. Are coaches put up with the name. Are mascot is a raider if someone had looked the other schools phs are pirates. This is a wonderful school that offers many things as a school store for lunch a range of athletic activities and many high graded students. Please lay off whoever put this on here is STUPID. Lay off are name we love the school we go to and have taken CRAP for years would people please just LAY OFF.

Because they’re pansys.. They’re scared of the dark even when it’s light.
It’s not. That’s a really powerful light.
eggeyyy
I wonder who thought up the name?
The guy on the right seems to be pretty proud of it.
Who knows, but they could’ve at least made it “pansy kid” instead of “kidd”. Wtf.
Pansy Ingle did when she married Frank Kidd.
She was a teacher who was forced to quit when she got married back in the 1910s. Back in the ‘Good Ole Days’ female teachers had to quit when they wed.

There’s a “Stalker Elementary School” in Bedford, IN. Behind the school is a “Stalker Nature Trail”. Who comes up with these names?
Epic stalkers and pansies!
I’m not sure, but they dun goofed.
Uh, I think that’s my alma mater.
Now this is just stupid… if you have a man or woman that you want to name your school after, just use the entire name, not just Pansy or Stalker… damn, americans are brainless
and use ” “
They DID use her full name – her name is “Pansy Kidd”
Actually, her full name was ‘Pansy Ingle Kidd.’ ‘Pansy Kidd’ only refers to the first and last names. I believe that was the point trying to be made.

……..and Hory is worse than brainless.

douchetard
you must work for the cyberpolice
they did use her name Pansy Kidd moron.
Coming on a website just to bash another country is kind of brainless as well.
This “Pansy Kidd” character probably donated a LOT of money to have the school named after her.
I Kidd
I kid you not!
Simply “Kidd” Elementary would have gone over better, most likely.
*Middle School
kkjkjk

I was thinking this picture is also destined for Men Who Look Like Old Lesbians
So this is the football team that “Epic Elementary” kicks the crap out of every game?

“Ta-da!” says the man in the blue shirt.
Not sure why he’s so proud of it.
This is cute… is that the janitor standing outside?
A school janitor smiling? A cesspool of filth and lies!
Did Jay Leno attend this school? Looks just like him!
haha
Maybe it is kind of “A Boy Named Sue” thinking, by third grade they can probably kick the butt of any bullies from other schools.

They say every full moon the ghost of Pansy walks these ‘ere halls…
but in all seriousness that is one helluva teacher/principal.
Still doesn’t explain why their mascot is the “tinkerbells”_
Pfft, please. There is a high school called “Hellsgate high school” in Missoula, MT
now that sorta scares me O_O
Maybe it is kind of “A Boy Named Sue” thinking, by third grade they can probably kick the butt of any bullies from other schools.
I’m glad they had someone in the picture to guide me, I had trouble seeing where the funny was.
I think the funny is in his left hand
It’s funny because the spacing between the words isn’t uniform.
The light is on during the day to save electricity.
haha
That dude has nice jorts!
I was trying to work out if those were some killer glasses, or just one big f*ckoff monobrow!

Seriously, no one really cares x). I went there, I loved it.
what’s with that dude?
This is the school that “Glee” is loosely based on….
excuse me get over your self and unless u r gay why are u watching glee
You’re all bent out of shape over people making fun of a school’s name, but you think it’s okay to “gay” as an epithet. Kind of ironic, isn’t it?
I went to this school. It was named after a person that lived in the area. Junior high sucks enough, why make it worse with a terrible name?
PKMS Raiders!
i bet the kids from Epic School would kick these kids’ asses!! http://www.epic.al.bce.schoolinsites.com/
On a similar note, during one of comedian Ronnie Corbett’s “armchair” moments, he joked that he went to a soft school for soft kids – St Pansy’s Primary.

I went to Heavener, and we played a game against you guys. I remember the basketballs had PMS written on them!

It doesn’t matter what is the name of school. The important is the quality of education the school’s can give.
