SPRITZED!
Vrouwken Pis.
h ttp://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeanneke_Pis
Hmm interesting. Me and this statue are the same age! lolz
Identification FAIL!
Janneke is situated behind a gate, in an alcove, and not made of stone.
She is also much much younger than this gargoyle!
*pulls cocolover86 under the gargoyle’s gush*
Ewwww, that’s ugly
That is not ugly. That is medivial humor
.
Someone went medieval on her ass.
win!
wow
That looks like it’d hurt. Poor statue.
(Also, first? =o)
Peeing?
It’s not supposed to hurt, remember that.
True, if there is any pain during urination, be sure to consult a doctor.
perhaps iwaste feel (gargoyle) stones when peeing…… check your kidneys…
It’s because he has kidney stones. Or stone kidneys. One of the two.
And then the other man sticks his hand DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP and the poo poo comes out. Eat da poo poo!
first!.. 1 statue and 1 fountain.. as in 2 girls and 1 cup
But without the cup and the second girl… Exactly.
and without the “first”………..
I was thinking more “tubstatue”
I dont get it…whos mind gets such ideas?!
Medevial stonecutters
see http://kinder.freiburgermuenster.info/index.php?id=19
and have fun
Or even worse, who approves of something like that?
I saw this on Facebook. One of the comments posted was by Kim M. “That water spout is on the Freiburg Munster (church) in Germany!”
So, if she’s right(which I’m assuming she is), a church approved this. Amen.
she is right. this is my fail and i bought this postcard in a gift shop while i was there. i got to see it in action during a rainstorm.
Awesome. Thanks for confirming!
This gargoyle is to be found at the Freiburg cathedral, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freiburger_M%C3%BCnster) a medieval building and to this day a Catholic church. These gargoyles were meant to scare evil spirits away which is why they all look somewhat horrible. Besides, to make one of the creative waterspouts was usually the graduation piece at the end of a stonecutter’s apprenticeship.
Open minds who have a culture that is a few hundreds if not thousands year older than the culture of the country where most of the people here come from?
Just take a closer look at all the castles, cathedrals, churches, palaces all over Europe or the Middle East. You will find tons of such elements, like gargoyles pissing down or vomiting, all kinds of demons, phallic symbols, etc.
They symbolise the influence of the devil on the outer world in contrast to the pure and good world inside of the church.
Thank you, alfora.
Agreed, people are just immature.
And there have been immature people even in the times when this was carved. Hence it’s existence.
but gargoyles, demons still better than this one.
Just do a picture search for “church phallic symbol” or even “greek phallic symbol” and be surprised what you can find in old churches and temples.
that doesn’t make it any less funny.
Thank you. This is by no means a fail.
How can this possibly be a fail? Those statues were quite normal in the Middle Ages: they were meant as a good laugh back then. There were little statues of people having a dump, copulating and even having oral sex.
Don’t you recall what the middle ages was like at school?
Middle Ages was FAIL.
Middle Ages were no FAÌL.
Either you or your teacher were, if you think so.
Oversensitive fail!
Imi, I didn’t know that. That’s awesome.
Not Fail at all.
Gargoyle Win!
Exactly. They’re grotesque downpipes.
Also, Mason WIN!
My first thought, I wondered if this was a tribute to female ejaculation
tribute to the shocker!
I’d hit it.
Oh, wow, looking at the photo again, I can totally see that.
I would love to know where this is, too.
Nice flexibility.
Why can’t they all do that?
Anyone thirsty? I have plastic cups you can use
Not medieval, ha.. It was ‘erected’ in 1987.
It was supposed to be the counterpart to a male version.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeanneke_Pis
This is not the right link. This wiki link is for a little girl squatting to match the little boy peeing in the fountain.
I may have caused some confusion ^^^
I love Brussels so!
Just say squirtguts.. It’s easier to spell
Hershey Squirts.
Heheheheh
:D:D FAIL!!!
They should make it muddy water.
This was the inspiration for Tubgirl.
It is indeed the Freiburger Münster (the city is called Freiburg im Breisgau…southern Germany). The story behind the gargoyle is quiet simple: The mason who did all the other gargoyles was payed less by the church then formerly agreed upon. Don’t know why, they probably thought that once he is done he has no other choice but to accept whatever they are going to pay him. There weren’t so many churches around that he could simply go around and sell them to another one. So he decided to get back at them some other way…apparently it worked
. I doubt that anyone would ever have believed that a few hundred years later people from all over the world would still get a laugh out of it (and if someone did he/she better kept his/her mouth shut…two words: witch hunt). If you ever get the chance to go to Freiburg you should do so. It is a lot like Heidelberg.
So: mason WIN
WOW ^^^^^^ history teacher Fail!!!
Dude….born there.
That statue is your mom?
That is located in Freiburg, Germany and it is at the Freiburger Münster!!
cool, just saying to earlier in the morning to learn this stuff, I just want to read stupid comments to make me laugh so i can wake up.
Don’t we all
Anybody up for a drink?
Good Lord! That’s nasty. Who was the idiot who thought this was a good idea? Or ‘art’??
Thats in Freiburg, my home town. But the story we were taught goes like this:
The mason was in love with the mayor’s daughter who lived right next to the cathedral but was refused since he was only a poor mason. So he carved the statue and put it right across from her window so she and her family had to stare at the ass the whole time (the old mayors house does have a view of the satue!).
Don’t you guys know anything? This is actually a close-up of the Temple of Goa Tse.
Comment FTW!
f**king win
Let me explain this:
This is no fail – it’s a win!
It’s on a german church (in Freiburg). The workers have been paid less then expected from the bishop, so they build this with the ass to the bishop’s house.
Let me explain this:
I know its history. I was there in Freiburg, went to school there, I KNOW. I bought this postcard while there. I was going back and forth between fail/win because really, it’s both: win for workers, fail for church.
OK, not Brussels. Still a nifty gargoyle regardless.
ugh, went to THE* school there. I was an exchange student, not a local or something.
equal opportunity win!
looks like the water is photo shopped
I could do that after eating about a hundred grapes.
No tub?
Another pic:

Heh, I’m from Freiburg im Breisgau too! XD It sometimes is called “Das Freiburger Ärschle”, which roughly translates to “The little ass of Freiburg”.
My town! I recognized it at figst sight!
This is a independent mind WIN!
I fartz in ur gen’ral direkshun!
what a fail
)
IT’S A TRAP!!
Btw, she looks rather Pained..
awww. how did i miss this when i was there?
Haha pee-pee…
that is just naaaasty… Even it that is distilled water, if it falls on me, I will puke!
It looks like infinite enema ;c)
Can I drink some ?
Quite disturbing, but that would make an Epic Fountain
This is in Freiburg, Germany. I saw it on my trip in April…the tour guide told us it was pointed at like…a knight? Or someone’s home outside the cathedral. It was something like that person had made the church angry and so that gargoyle ended up there pointed at the person’s house.
that’s an interesting comment michelle…… ppl dont understand art these days (even if it is obcenely depicted)
OMG Only today I’ve seen this one on TV. What a weird coincidence. And yes, it is indeed the Freiburg Minster in Freiburg, Germany.
Freiburg! my home away from home! there are also two gargoyles butt f*cking on the side of the Muenster as well
your English is excellent, only a few very minor errors. I would have never known it wasn’t your first language
Back in the day, they would call that art.
That’s actually not a fail. It’s made that way on purpose to offend the guild whose building is facing that “gargoyle” because they didn’t feel like helping to finance the church…
Interesting how many stories about that exist.
Tubstatue? Fountaingirl?
