Hey Failers,
I know it’s a little out of the blue, but I wanted to say thank you for being a part of the Cheezburger Network. It’s an amazing experience watching the different communities in the Network come together and grow, whether it’s Failbook or That Will Buff Out. Some of you may have read about it recently in the news that we have become one of the largest humor destinations online — all thanks to you, our community.
More than a thousand fans came out to the Cheezburger Night with the Mariners, we recently picked up our 5th Webby award, were profiled in the New York Times and dozens of other publications. All because we, on the Internet, are participating in creating our own content, and our own humor, and sharing it with others.
We’re going to continue to create more “playgrounds” of humor and lulz, and we’re totally dedicated to making you happy for a few minutes a day and continue to create features that will make your experience here more fun.
We wouldn’t be here without you and your contributions, comments, and love.

It’s interesting that so many have voted “What are trophies”. I thought I would be the only one. Are they talking about the Webby awards and the other plugs they got? Because in that case I think the question was really open to misunderstanding, as the Webbys are awards and the others were just magazines and stuff just mentioning failblog.org, so that’s why I’m confused.

Uhh, not quite, this is actually where the PEOPLE create their own content and submit it for others to see.
While I disagree with the “we create our own content”, I agree that this network allows people to create and share their content with others. The thread above proves this, where everyone comes together once or twice a day to just say hi and give each other a squeeze.

I’ve been a frequenter of ICHC since it was just the lolcats, and I will be a fan until the day that my future great great grandchildren have to tear me away from the computer and pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse. Thank you to everyone at Cheezburger Network from everyone I know for making our lives a lot more humorous, because thanks to you we look for lols everywhere now.

The “trophies” are just annoying, they keep popping up as I rate or vote on fails. I have no idea who gets to be Beta testers; one would have thought that general users would be invited to test improvements to the ICHC sites, but that doesn’t seem to be the case (I have beta-tested many other websites, and I am a frequent visitor [though infrequent commenter] to many ICHC sites: Failblog, Probably Bad News, Friends of Irony, So Much Pun, Hacked IRL, Oddly Specific, Overkill 9000, etc etc. I have created/posted “lolz” in the past (though none made it to the homepage), but I haven’t received any trophies for that. The CheezGameNight trophy is impossible to get for anyone who does not live in Seattle and attend Mariners games. The rest of the trophies seem dedicated to perpetuating cliquishness and high school-style popularity contests by rewarding those with “most friends”, although most ICHC users cannot be bothered to comment on fails due to lack of time or inclination, and thus cannot get to know other users. Besides it is often remarked that non-regulars and newcomers find the comments section intimidating or confusing or put down for making a faux pas that they weren’t aware of. All in all, I dislike the concept of “trophies” that reward and glorify a few users while annoying and alienating the millions that actually make the ICHC “the largest humo(u)r destination online”.

And by the way, I am appalled that Probably Bad News will soon be redirected to FAIL Blog. PBN was my favorite ICHC site, surpassing even FAIL Blog, and I doubt that few great news fails will make the FAIL Blog homepage, and those that do will be buried under all sorts of other FAIL images and videos that often thrive on juvenile humor and amateur pics/videos of “that has got to hurt” moments.
If anything, Oddly Specific and Friends of Irony could be merged into the same site, as could Picture is Unrelated and This Is Photobomb, and most of the sites with “slower”updates to content could be folded into FAIL Blog.

When you get a trophy for making the homepage, it should show you what picture of yours made the homepage.
Thank you for the many many hours of slight smiling and occasionally LOLing. Although to be fair, this was mostly down to strangers on the internet, you do provide a very nice playground.
Please keep up the high-standards, and don’t let the misogynistic/violent crap slip through the net.
