Apparently, sex shops have been around a lot longer than we thought.

Phallic symbols have been around for thousands of years. They were symbols of male fertility, as breasts were symbols of female fertility. Google some of the art found in Pompeii and Herculeneum, whose art wasn’t destroyed when Christianity took over. Herculeneum has a brothel with graphic pictures for a customer to choose a position. Interesting stuff.
