4. No? It may have a light on it to let you know that it’s on. If the light is not on the button, it may be above your home key. Please google if you need help finding this.
5. It’s the button that has “Caps Lock” written on it for some reason.
6. Push this button.
7. Make sure the previously stated light is off.
8. If the light is off, you are now clear to post.
FYI, I used to work at Barnes & Noble and we would call this a publishing fail. We’ve been putting our sale stickers in the top right corner for twenty years. If the people who design the book covers haven’t figured this out by now, then it ain’t our problem.
Authors don’t generally design their own covers– occasionally, they may get input if the publisher has a couple of different choices for the design. And considering shelf appeal has a lot to do with book sales– yes, publishers should fit cover designs to bookstores’ way of doing things.
I work at Books-A-Million & that’s where we put our discount stickers (which are also a rectangular/squarish shape). That’s actually where most places put their stickers & I’ve been in quite a few bookstores.
Although I will say that more than likely, this was entirely done on purpose for just that reason. When you work book store retail long enough, you learn to get in the small jokes when you can.
This is entirely full of WIN. Too bad it was never discounted at my store- I’d have enjoyed doing this!!
For what it’s worth, to the best of my knowledge there has only been one time in which booksellers were instructed NOT to put the discount sticker in the upper right corner, and that was for one of Donald Trump’s books. We were instructed to sticker in the upper left because the discount sticker would have been right over his face.
Yes, but if you’ll notice, it is not in the IMMEDIATE top right hand corner – it’s moved down (the general rule, for those who don’t and haven’t worked at B&N, discount stickers should be flush with the corner). I <3 amused Booksellers. They make my life happy.
