Well with so many older Canadians (we call Snow Birds) wintering down in Florida, not surprising that they’d alter local speech patterns. As for horses? I think Texas has more horse back riding than all of Canada does so I don’t know where you get that idea that we have a special level of horse riding over any other country.

This. Being from Florida, I can tell you there are a lot of Canadians, both temp and permanent. A Canadian family once lived down the street. They had a bunch of bilingual board games.
My sister went to high school in Pompano Beach.
