It’s a Bulgarian (?) singer singing “without you” in an American Idol kind of contest. She’s completely botching the words and convinced she’s singing in English.
Just for example “Can’t live, if living is without you” is pronounced by her “Ken Lee, budi budi budachoo”. Sing it, it’s fun.

You mean to say she knows English? Also, I hope you know that everyone in Bulgaria does make jokes about her English. For reference really follow Beatus Mongous’s suggestion and look at the judges’ faces. That pretty much sums the reaction of Bulgaria this on was shown on TV.

O God……It’s obvious English is not her first language. And that’s fine. My problem is, if you’re going to sing a song in English, please learn the language first. I loved the looks on the judges faces…priceless!
It’s not even necessary to learn the actual language. Simply learning the song phonetically would suffice– e.g., I don’t speak Latin but I’ve sung plenty of it.
Amateur and professional choristers and singers have of course been doing this for ages, across several languages. Or, as Edith Wharton put it, “an unalterable and unquestioned law of the musical world required that the German text of French operas sung by Swedish artists should be translated into Italian for the clearer understanding of English-speaking audiences”.
As other people pointed out, just learn the word phonetically.
Opera singers have been doing so for centuries, after all.

This is more like an editing fail. How could you deface a classic like that? You left out the part where she sings “KEN LEEEEE!” at the top of her lung. It’s like releasing a shortened version of John Carpenter’s “The Thing” and leaving out the part where the guy’s head detaches and grows spider legs. Why did you do that? I suppose you are right. Although, the fact that it’s obvious she didn’t look at any lyrics before learning the song AND the fact that she didn’t get a word right, does undermine your point. And I don’t mean that she didn’t pronounce them in perfect English, I mean she didn’t get any multi-syllable word right (I still believe the few correct monosyllable ones were only successful due to random chance) – take for example “Lee”: the “v” is not a subtly hinted silent “v” (if there is such a thing at all) it is just missing.
She couldn’t speak a word of English. And she wasn’t embarrassed at all, she was just too stupid to feel embarrassed. She got invited to all kinds of talkshows and whatnot and she was pretty pleased with herself, oblivious that they were all mocking her.
I know a Russian cat who cannot speak a work of English but he sings “Hotel California” better than Don Henley.
No…she just didn’t read the lyrics or make any attempt to memorize them. You don’t need to know what you are saying to memorize things. Seeing as how her last name is “Hassan” and not “Asenova” or “Kirkova” I’d say she’s Bulgarian Turk.
The Turks use a modified version of the Latin alphabet. They know roughly what letters make what sound.
