    This is just part of the classic rookie hazing ritual. First the boot on the car during the morning donut-run, next comes tasing in the shower. Pretty standard-issue stuff.

    There is a difference between police and police force in Germany. In fact, a german police officer could get his car locked too for an administrative offence by the “other branch” of the police. But that occurs rarely (and only in not really minor cases) … there is honour among thieves ;)

    I live in the town where this happened, the store the RCMP car is parked infront of owns that yellow lock. They do that to every car that parks infront of their store – but the people in the car doesn’t go in the store.

      Actually, businesses own commercial land and conduct business at the pleasure of Her Majesty. Obstructing an agent of Her Majesty is an offense, and by a business is even riskier. If they weren’t prosecuted, they should be very appreciative of the understanding and honour shown by the RCMP.
