The fail about this is the baby carriage. You should not have a baby watch away from you. All the visual information is way too much for a baby and facing away from the protective body of the mother or father also increases the danger of the baby getting hurt.
In addition the specific model has already produced a generation of adolescents having massive orthopaedic problems because all the weight of the baby rests on the small area between the legs and a baby’s spinal column is supposed to be round and not straight.
So drying a baby on a clothes line is, like, a bad idea?

Actually, while you’re right about the facing out thing (in general — many babies do tolerate it well for short periods of time at least), I think you’re wrong about the type of carrier being used. I don’t think it’s a Baby Bjorn or Snugli under there, the ‘crotch dangler’ types. I think the red cloth that can be seen is actually a wrap-style carrier, which is one of the best and most ergonomic types of slings out there.
True, the forward-facing carry in a wrap is more similar to a BB-style crotch-dangle, since it’s trickier to get coverage under the entire bum. But if it’s a parent aware enough to be using a wrap in the first place, then the kiddo is probably carried in more comfortable ways most of the time. The usual wrap carry has the baby sitting in a comfy little pouch for the whole butt and upper thighs, giving a ‘frog-leg’ effect, which is the ideal for hip development.
Of course it is tricky to tell from the photo, but that was my impression.
