» 124 Failures in Communication

  1. Jeff says:

Why open 24/7 when we can open 4 hours/week!

    • Serpenz says:

      serve me serve me!

      • Them says:

        “To Serve Man”
(an alien’s guide to a properly prepared human)

      • MintySinty says:

        This looks shopped.
I can tell by the pixels and by seeing quite a few shops in my time.

        • John S says:

Hey, I can see pixels too, and saw shops too! Wow! This definitely proves you right.

        • Jim Foley says:

My son told me he posted my picture. It was some financial services place, maybe winding down tax preparation season, in Madison NJ. I really took this with a old cell phone camera while he was with me. I took it because it was funny as it was, not because I thought I could go home and put time into editing it. If I did have the skills to photoshop, I hope I could come up with something funnier than this. I don’t even know what you mean by “I can see pixels…” Doesn’t any picture have pixels? and cell phone pictures look more pixellated?”

          • Heidi says:

I believe you, but they’re referring to the pixels around the text. Usually, that’s a dead giveaway for a ‘shop – that the pixels in one part are different from other parts.

(I agree with you, though, based on the content it would be silly to have photoshopped this one, lol.)

    • 365dyear says:

We are here to help you, your business is very important to us. We are ALWAYS OPEN, except when we are closed, which is usually.

      • Please hold says:

Not to be confused with the….
“Your business is very important to us, our customers deserve only the best service, and we will provide that service to you in .. …beep beep ..25-35 minutes, thank you for holding, you are very important to us”

      • loladahl10 says:

I didn’t wanted to get served, either way.

    • XD says:

      Actually it’s more like 16 hours. Says 2 (not 14:00, no p.m.)

      • radar says:

That’s what I thought, but apperantly a large amount of U.S. Citizens are not familiar with the 24 hour clock.

        • ZombieVictim says:

I think it means 10AM to 2 PM…. that also is the only possible way for it to be open under those hours in one day. So 4 hours is accurate.

        • Kristen says:

LOL I’m not going to bother to explain how moronic that statement was.

          • Xenon says:

Actually, it’s true. A lot of the Americans I’ve talked to over the internet really DON’T understand a 24-hour clock. There are a lot that do, but they only make up about twenty-five percent of the people I’ve met. A few Canadians don’t get it either.

    • UyeahU says:

Like the old Steven Wright joke: “I was going into a convenience store the other night as a guy was coming out and locking the front door. What are you doing, the sign says open 24 hours!?” He said, “Not in a row.”

  2. Stephen Ogley says:

But today we have nothing to sell.

  3. rherh says:

    First! … JK

  4. Zizix123 says:

Hi, we’re open 24/7 please come back tomorrow :D

  5. fail dude says:

    hahahahahahahaha

  6. wogggiey says:

What they meant to post was their Customer service hotline is here to serve you

  7. AferVentus says:

We are a problem; please be patient?

  8. Andrew Ong says:

10 till 2 only on a Wednesday?! That’s only 4 hours per week of work!

    • Andrew Ong says:

Usually weekly work hours range from 20 to 40. That really is too short to be considered a service.

    • Frank says:

      Math fail!

      10:00
      11:00
      12:00
      13:00
      14:00
      15:00
      16:00
      17:00
      18:00
      19:00
      20:00
      21:00
      22:00
      23:00
      00:00
      01:00
      02:00

      Thats 17 hours to me

      • Mouse says:

Discreetly… but the difference is 16 hours.

      • Aferventus says:

Umm, 10:00 to 00:00 (= 24:00) is 14 hours, 00:00 to 02:00 is 2 hours, and 14 + 2 = 16. As a general rule, subtracting an even number from an even number produces an even number.

      • tereglith says:

But the 2:00 would, in fact, be on Thursday, which means that it should have said 10:00-0:00 on Wednesday and 0:00-2:00 on Thursday.

It seems to me most likely that it is 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The lack of designations means nothing, as people know that 2pm comes after 10am, at least where I live. Why should a company that slackery stay up until 2 in the morning anyway?

  9. Four hour working week! this guy wrote a book on how to do this (i’m not actually tim ferriss (see url)

  10. Its Fake says:

    *obligatory “ITS FAKE photoshopped” comment*

    • Badger Whisperer says:

Completley and utterly true, look at the pixel shading in frame 64. Shoddy job really

      • DeepInTheHeartofFailBlog! ♀ says:

        *snorkroffle*

      • Jim Foley says:

My son posted this last night, only let me know about it today, I can’t even remember how he got the picture from the cell phone to the camera, so I definitely don’t have the sophistication to edit the photo. This really was posted in a financial services storefront business at a mini-mall in Madison NJ. There really are funny things out there, they are not all faked.

    • Jim Foley says:

Hilarious. Thanks. This person put way more time in to looking at frame 64 (what is he talking about? There is just one frame here, it’s not a video) than I put into getting my cell phone out and snapping this picture a couple of years ago.

  11. DeepInTheHeartofFailBlog! ♀ says:

I just discovered Moominpappa! Whoo hoo! I had no idea. It’s as if all the cuteness in Sweden and Japan had babies. I knew I loved the Moomin. Now even more.

Vem kommer i vår ruta här?
    Jovisst, det Mumintrollet är!
    Med sammetsnos och liten svans,
det bästa troll som någonsin fanns!

Det är ju Mumin! Det är ju Mumin!

    I Mumindalens trygga ro,
i Muminhus, vi ser dem bo!
En stor familj där var och en
    har sammetsnos och korta ben!

Sådär som Mumin! Sådär som Mumin! Sådär som Mumin! Sådär som Mumin! Sådär som Mumin! Sådär som Mumin!

    Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-ma-ma-ma-m a-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-ma-ma -ma-ma-ma-ma!

    Pa-pa-pa *fade*

    • Sarge says:

“Stay On Topic”, Motherucker: Do you know of it?

      • DeepInTheHeartofFailBlog! ♀ says:

you just don’t know the moomin. if u were a regular you’d know who i mean. also, you’d have more of a sense of humor if you were a regular on failblog. failpeeps are oftenrandom and offtopic. . .

        • You Go Girl says:

yeah you tell him, you go gril.
          sing to your farts content

          • DeepInTheHeartofFailBlog! ♀ says:

Sad thing is. . . the Moomin will probably never see my little tribute because very few FailPeeps come on during the weekend. After the cuddle puddle on Friday it’s over ’till Monday’s fail. Perhaps I’ll post it then.
            *moominsqueeziesjustincase*

            • Badger Whisperer says:

Hang in there! Just post it every day till he shows up, then you’ll get all the gratitude you could want!

            • Jon; says:

There’s been an unfortunate Moomin shortage recently :(

              Perhaps living Marshmallows are endangered?

              *DitHwhereHAVEyoubeen?squeeze*

              • DeepInTheHeartofFailBlog! ♀ says:

I don’t have internet at home. I come to my Aunt’s house to check my email and cyber with strangers see what my FailPeeps are up to. . .
I miss all the squeezies and cuddle puddles. Perhaps that’s why I’ve lost my mind entirely.
                *jonsqueezies*

      • shame shame says:

do you eat with that mouth?

        • Jon; says:

I think that’s the “mouth” his food comes out after he’s eaten it.

Because he's talking out of his arse? No? Nothing?

          Tough crowd.
          • Rod says:

            “take my wife” …please..

so she says ..”take me somewhere new”…
so I took her to the kitchen…….boomBAM rimshot.

            tough crowd…tough room…
no respect Ill tell ya… no respect.

  12. Sarge says:

Must be a bank. Only a bank could have the gall to be open just four hours a week.

The sign should read: “We don’t care about the people who have money on deposit with us. They are insignificant insects to us, and we don’t give a shit about them. Now go away and come back some day when we might care to be open for business.”

At least then the sign would be honest.

    Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnddd……. the rant is over.

    • Jon says:

My guess is that it’s a public library. They are so woefully underfunded that many of them are open only a few hours a week. Some are just closing altogether.

      • tereglith says:

I’d guess H&R Block during the off-season. The entire company shuts down when people don’t need help with their taxes. That’s their shade of green, too.

        • Jim Foley says:

You might be right about the H&R block thing. It was a few years ago, I remember taking the picture (my son said he took it to avoid putting me in the discussion, I guess), but I only recall it was something to do with financial services.

    • bmanfoley says:

it was in fact a bank (I took the picture). and no, its not photoshopped. if it looks pixelated its because I used a 1.3MP camera to take it >_>

  13. Slerte says:

Must be a UK Post Office.

  14. Sgt_Hawkins says:

    You Got SERVED!!!!!

  15. AfriCat says:

And they wonder why banks are failing?

  16. Gelas says:

This reminds me of the police station in my home town(kil, sweden) its open 2 to 4 every tuesday. it used to be every other tues day but we protested enough to get the police presence doubled :D

  17. pfooti says:

Totally not photoshopped at all. Clearly, all the font baselines align correctly and there’s no residue from cloning the “closed” text whatsoever.

    • Black★Rock Scooter says:

Give them a break, they’re only open 4 hours a week, do you think they have time to make a good looking sign? I agree with the cloning residue, though. It’s so easy to spot, it looks just like JPEG compression, except it’s on pictures instead of JPEGs.

      • Hermann says:

No, this is totally fake and photoshopped,
no woman has boobs which look like that…

oh wait, is this a Rorschach test room?

  18. Adrian says:

    Lol, holy week sched probably.

  19. Doctor F. says:

To be categorsied under “surviving recession, but only just”.

  20. dougerz6 says:

my barber shop closes at unspecified times so they can begin drinking early…

    • Black★Rock Scooter says:

I know the type, they’re open from nine until they’re too drunk for people to trust them with sharp objects.

    • Clip says:

That does explain a couple of things ….
I was going to say something … but, well,
you know …there are hair dos…..
and then there are hair donts.

I am not going to drink anymore,
but I am not going to drink any less.

  21. Anadi says:

I’m 100% positive this sign is posted in every public and private university’s financial aid and/or advisor’s office door! COLLEGE WIN!

  22. boringTroll says:

It is probably off-season office hours for a seasonal business. The store in a park may open sometimes for deliveries, hiring, and other off season stuff.

  23. Jon says:

“I tell ya, these four hour work weeks are killing me!” – G. Jetson

  24. Ryno says:

    Photoshop fail.

  25. DAT says:

I’m guessing a local government office.

  26. Louise says:

What you’re meant to say is “death in the family”. Doesn’t matter if it’s true or not.

  27. NAGA says:

    Helloooo photoshop.

  28. Essayons says:

    Sounds like Washington lately.

  29. Azkyroth says:

Weird; same hours my bank has.

  30. Sheeyah says:

Is the shadow missing an arm? Well, whatever…

Clearly, you can’t see the rest of the message. It reads: “We’re here to serve younglings.” It’s obviously an office for the local Star Wars Cosplayers.

  31. bobechi says:

shopped! no one else sees the pixelation?

  32. Tokens says:

Doesn’t the point kinda get ruined by the fact that the picture is so clearly photoshopped? It’s not even done properly.

    • Jim Foley says:

You are the ones ruining this by never believing that there are funny images out there in the world. What might ruin it is a more common-sense explanation, that it may have been the end of tax season… based on when I go to NJ where I took this picture, it was either July or December, so it wasn’t right after April 15.

  33. blah says:

such a bad photoshop job. i think they used ms paint… >.>

  34. spongegrunt says:

This looks shoped. i can tell because a few of the pixels and that iv seen quite a few shops in my time.

  35. big al says:

It’s real. Its an H and R Block office after tax season. I know, my mom works for The Block.

  36. MRB says:

Looks like a lazy photoshop job. The alignment of “closed” next to each day shows no consistency.

  37. Comfort says:

Not everything on the internet is photoshopped. Every picture inevitably will get a “ZOMG THIS WUZ SHOPPED!” comment on it.
To tell the truth, it’s annoying.

  38. Jessica says:

Al’s right, it’s an H & R Block office, they are open seven days a week until April 15 and then mostly shut down, so people who are still saying “photoshopped” dont’ read.

  39. Eppie Eppie says:

Surely that should “We’re here to starve you”?

  40. bushputz says:

Wednesday noont: “WooHoo! made it to hump hour!”

  41. Richard Whitney says:

That sign is for the Anorexia Cafe. They have a special on Bulimic Wednesday.

  42. Pearl says:

exclusivity! actually this works…wonder why they are so great they don`t need to be open…harder to get makes people want more…i use this w/ guys, hehe :) sorry :0

    • Xenon says:

You do realise that playing hard to get rarely works with men, right? Depending on their morals, they either give up and move on to someone worth their time or they rape you. O_o If you want to go out with them, sodding say so. If you don’t, stop leading them on, you selfish cow.

  43. john says:

    PHOTOSHOP FAIL (so obvious)

  44. MrSeagull says:

Yes, this is from an H&R block, during off season. As in, april 15th – Dec 31st. They have no reason to be open more then a day a week outside of tax season.

  45. Erin says:

It’s the sign for an H&R Block, where I work. In the off season offices are only open one or 2 days a week except for appointments.

  46. Doubtit says:

Sorry, but this is definitely edited, and not even well. Just because it is not all that funny does not mean it’s true. You could just be a bad picture faker AND be terrible at making jokes.

    • Xenon says:

Sorry, but you’re definitely an idiot, and not even a repentant one. Just because you can’t read doesn’t mean you’re right. You could just be a troll AND be terrible at reading the comments before posting your inane crap.

  47. forsythia says:

I think all the people who comment that its photoshopped aren’t Americans? There is an H&R Block office on my old street that is only open during tax season, then remains closed for the rest of the year. And something taken from an older cell phone camera might just indeed have bad pixel quality.

    • Xenon says:

I’m not American and I didn’t think it was photoshopped either. It’s unfortunately likely that some things are just that lazy…

  48. Wendy says:

No really, it is NOT photoshopped- I worked at H&R Block n my town and we had the same sign! I always thought it was funny but never thought to take a picture. Damn!

  49. sonic64 says:

    Haha, lets see…. your’re open 1,460 hours a year.

  50. Tim says:

    one word… photoshop

  51. blondoO says:

    i think it’s a fake
