maybe you’re rigth,
but lego is also made for children age 8 or something (mention the word ALSO)
I don’t think they’ve got so much geometrical experiences for this complicated problem.
maybe it isn’t a fail, but the lego compeny also see this as a fault!

Dude, that is a 1×3 plate and the arrows are going down to cover a 1×4 area… A 1×3 cant cover a 1×4 completely you pillow pet. And its called a mis-print. That person would just use a 1×4 to get over their troubles.

well if the arrows were in a 3-D environment, then from this angle this picture is correct because of perspective. but on a drawing it was kinda misleading. as the majority of commenters have shown.

It’s a 3-pronged piece, and the arrow points to show it being put on a 4-pronged space.

The fail is that the arrows don’t extend, so they end in the center of the studs, so it looks like you’re supposed to put a three stud piece onto four studs.

No, the diagram clearly indicates that the three bobble piece goes over three bobbles. Each arrow shows where the piece’s outer corners should be, which if you extend past the tip of the arrow to the actual base that the piece is to be attached to, clearly only extends three bobbles.

The only fail here is the massive amount of spacial awareness fail in the subby and some of the respondents.

The fail is that it’s a 3×1 piece, but it’s saying to put it so that its going onto 4 studs. But I dont think this is a lego instruction manual. It doesnt look like how lego instructions are done.

So I take it that YOU don’t attend grade school? This diagram is correct explaining non-isometric parallel placement. The arrows doesn’t mean it will be locked into 4 “bobbles (lol! I like “bobbles”!)

D’Oh! I fell victim to the very fencepost error I was trying to describe. A 3-stud brick is in fact 3 * stud pitch long (2 * stud pitch + 0.5 stud pitch on either end), which is the same as the center-center distance across 4 studs.

I have 4 instruction sets with some error in them. 3 are mega-block so they don’t count. so the one that i do have that’s messed up it says to put a 4X flat where there needs to be a 4X block

Agreed. It is really more of an optical illusion than a true FAIL. If the arrows were drawn a bit longer, then it would not look so odd.

It’s funny how many people are blaming “perspective” when it is clearly an isometric drawing.
