I don’t see, at all, why this would be a fail. The arrows show where the two edges of the block are going and they point below the bobble, where they end wo below the first and fourth row.
If you attended grade school and took any kind of elementary math class, you’d be able to see that the top piece has three bobbles while the arrows on the bottom piece indicate four bobbles. 3 != 4
It’s actually not incorrect, if you look, the arrows match up to the bottom left and top left corners of the lego piece, rather than the “bobbles”, and if the arrows extended a little further they would go to pretty much where those corners would be, if you joined on the lego piece.
Unless it’s suppost to be a 4 bobble thing in the rest of the design. in which case, fair enough.
I have 4 instruction sets with some error in them. 3 are mega-block so they don’t count. so the one that i do have that’s messed up it says to put a 4X flat where there needs to be a 4X block
So I take it that YOU don’t attend grade school? This diagram is correct explaining non-isometric parallel placement. The arrows doesn’t mean it will be locked into 4 “bobbles (lol! I like “bobbles”!)
maybe you’re rigth,
but lego is also made for children age 8 or something (mention the word ALSO)
I don’t think they’ve got so much geometrical experiences for this complicated problem.
maybe it isn’t a fail, but the lego compeny also see this as a fault!
fail
The fail is that it’s a 3×1 piece, but it’s saying to put it so that its going onto 4 studs. But I dont think this is a lego instruction manual. It doesnt look like how lego instructions are done.
No, the diagram clearly indicates that the three bobble piece goes over three bobbles. Each arrow shows where the piece’s outer corners should be, which if you extend past the tip of the arrow to the actual base that the piece is to be attached to, clearly only extends three bobbles.
The only fail here is the massive amount of spacial awareness fail in the subby and some of the respondents.
The fail is that the arrows don’t extend, so they end in the center of the studs, so it looks like you’re supposed to put a three stud piece onto four studs.
Dude, that is a 1×3 plate and the arrows are going down to cover a 1×4 area… A 1×3 cant cover a 1×4 completely you pillow pet. And its called a mis-print. That person would just use a 1×4 to get over their troubles.
S’braided with little beads and stuff. You like it? Leila did it yesterday. Looks like it’s gonna be in awhile, though — I tried to get one of the beads off yesterday, and it took a braid with it…
Not me AL. A Bros job is to put the arm on any would be suitors and take unlimited abuse for it. Oh, and allow them to steal all of his sweatshirts, jackets and hoodies.
Most houses in my area have basements. Mine is mainly for storage, but the girls have a playroom in it, which is nice and bright and painted pink. Mainly, though my basement is the kitties’ room.
Yes, it’s a nice place to be in the summertime, notsomuch in the winter.
When she wasn’t pulling the above garbage on me ^^^, my sister and I actually had quite a fun time down there. We used to put on our Soccer-Boppers and punch each other senseless.
When I buy a house (sometime next year) it’ll either have a finished or finishable basement, which will become the entertainment area of the house. TV, video games, and such will be down there. I wish I had it now. Patience has never been my strong suit.
*sighs*
Well, considering the amount of insulation my attic doesn’t have, right now my attic is cooler (temperature-wise) than my basement. But when summer hits, you’ll be right.
Well, to the credit of the instructions (which I have), there’s a left side and a right side. The picture you see is the left side. The right side shows the same part snapped down, and in correct position, so I’m assuming that a kid could figure it out from looking at the directions. Far be it from me to assume a kid *might* be able to figure out the directions.

Isometric projection interpretation fail. The fact that the arrows apparently point to studs is coincidental. The arrows originate (roughly) at the corners of the 3-stud brick, which, by definition, must be a length of 4 studs. (stud pitch * 3 + 0.5 stud pitch on each end.)
D’Oh! I fell victim to the very fencepost error I was trying to describe. A 3-stud brick is in fact 3 * stud pitch long (2 * stud pitch + 0.5 stud pitch on either end), which is the same as the center-center distance across 4 studs.
No, the drawing is correct: it’s a perspective interpretation fail. The arrows are not pointing at the studs, the arrows are pointing from the corners of the three-piece to the corresponding spaces where those corners would go. The rightmost arrow is pointing to the very edge of the bottom piece and the leftmost arrow is pointing to the space just above and to the left of the third stud. The arrows don’t touch what they’re pointing at.
well if the arrows were in a 3-D environment, then from this angle this picture is correct because of perspective. but on a drawing it was kinda misleading. as the majority of commenters have shown.
Wonderful paintings! This is the kind of information that should be shared around the internet. Disgrace on the seek engines for now not positioning this publish upper! Come on over and discuss with my site . Thanks =)
Lego Tardis kit instructions
Is that Dr Who’s cousins? Dr What, When, How and Why?
I don’t see, at all, why this would be a fail. The arrows show where the two edges of the block are going and they point below the bobble, where they end wo below the first and fourth row.
that’s deep

Unless it’s suppost to be a 4 bobble thing in the rest of the design. in which case, fair enough.
i actualy have this set. in the box was a correction page that you need to put in the manual.
so yeah it was a mess up.
Seriously guys? Bobbles? They’re called studs. Bobbles are for the tops of baby hats.
I have 4 instruction sets with some error in them. 3 are mega-block so they don’t count. so the one that i do have that’s messed up it says to put a 4X flat where there needs to be a 4X block

I’f you had some kind of gometry-sense, you would not have made a stupid comment like this
by the way, my previous comment was against Mr.”Hate Stupid People”s stupid comment…
guys, the image is perfectly alright… if you still think it’s not, go get some elementary geometry classes…
maybe you’re rigth,
but lego is also made for children age 8 or something (mention the word ALSO)
I don’t think they’ve got so much geometrical experiences for this complicated problem.

A little chewing goes a long way.

The fail is that the arrows don’t extend, so they end in the center of the studs, so it looks like you’re supposed to put a three stud piece onto four studs.
It’s a 3-pronged piece, and the arrow points to show it being put on a 4-pronged space.
Dude, that is a 1×3 plate and the arrows are going down to cover a 1×4 area… A 1×3 cant cover a 1×4 completely you pillow pet. And its called a mis-print. That person would just use a 1×4 to get over their troubles.

Agreed, it’s a perspective interpretation FAIL, and a Lego WIN, because Lego is always win!
three words: “Galidor”, “Znap”, “Ben 10″. Lego is not always win.
Names that don’t make SENSE and thats my final answer!
ben 10 hasn’t failed… yet.
R.I.P. bionicle. we hardly knew ye.
I’m sorry, Ben 10 failed as soon as it was a glimmer in some Lego executive’s eye.
I second this motion!!! Its a user FAIL. If you thought this was a fail you FAIL and know nothing of art and perspective!!
Lego’s don’t do diagonals.
It still doesn’t work if you extend the arrows…
Even if the piece were the right size, it’s a fail because you’re never going to pry one of those stupid thin pieces off again!
is that really a tardis???? could you send me a link of where i could find one? many thanks

To-do list
1.
Be the annoying troll and say First! on FB.2. Sleep for the rest of the day in my mother’s basement.
I read this, and I’m reminded that I’ve never been in a house with a basement.
*shows Dargus dimly-lit basement from childhood*
Let’s go downstairs and play!
*runs back upstairs, shuts off light*
Did not!!! Oh …
, you meant your real sister.
Most houses in my area have basements. Mine is mainly for storage, but the girls have a playroom in it, which is nice and bright and painted pink. Mainly, though my basement is the kitties’ room.
Gamers, trolls, nerds, momma boys, etc. from my area often don’t live in mom’s basement. Attics, garages, and childhood rooms? Sure.
I imagine basements to be cooler than attics.
Temperature I mean. Not awesomeness.
An attic lends the air of “Wizard Tower”.
Yes, it’s a nice place to be in the summertime, notsomuch in the winter.
When she wasn’t pulling the above garbage on me ^^^, my sister and I actually had quite a fun time down there. We used to put on our Soccer-Boppers and punch each other senseless.
ah --- good times.

Well, considering the amount of insulation my attic doesn’t have, right now my attic is cooler (temperature-wise) than my basement. But when summer hits, you’ll be right.
Great. Now how am I going to put this Lego kit together, if I can’t see the instructions.
Let’s see… I’ll just line these five pins up with these four holes…
*holds flashlight for Dargus*
*waves it around so he can’t see the instructions*
Wait. How did you get….

I don’t see why not. Who’s going to clean-up after him, though?
*points at k@*

Why do I always get the messy jobs?

Cudding schedule and everything else:

Yes. Very much. I might have to look into something festive for that Hallmark™ Holiday…
I threaten my hubby that it is grounds for divorce if he gets me anything.
We don’t celebrate it, either. We just try to be nice to each other and surprise each other all the time.
He buys me flowers all the time anyway.
I will try your approach and be nice to him. Kidding! He is so sweet I can’t be mean.
My girlfriend isn’t impressed buy flowers, but she loves when I buy her old Nintendo/Sega games.
So those are my flowers to her…

That’s not all you missed.

*gets camera ready*
You are posting comments too quickly. Slow down.
GAH!
YES MOM!!!!
Get off the computer and clean your room, young lady!
But I just cleaned it yesterday!
Shoving everything in your closet and under the bed is not cleaning.
And don’t you look at me with that tone of voice!
it fits! you have to try it
Isometric projection interpretation fail. The fact that the arrows apparently point to studs is coincidental. The arrows originate (roughly) at the corners of the 3-stud brick, which, by definition, must be a length of 4 studs. (stud pitch * 3 + 0.5 stud pitch on each end.)
Hey ocd!! What he(DataCable) said!!!!!!!!
>,< Pickachu-Mofo
That’s Elementary.
The fact that the arrows apparently point to studs is
coincidental.comical.Fixed that for ya.
You’re so helpful, AA.
Agreed. It is really more of an optical illusion than a true FAIL. If the arrows were drawn a bit longer, then it would not look so odd.
It’s funny how many people are blaming “perspective” when it is clearly an isometric drawing.
D’Oh! I fell victim to the very fencepost error I was trying to describe. A 3-stud brick is in fact 3 * stud pitch long (2 * stud pitch + 0.5 stud pitch on either end), which is the same as the center-center distance across 4 studs.
No and no thank you.
You’re so polite.
*does double-take*
Whaddafu?!? I HATE it when that happens!
KUNG FU CUTMAN!
yes i finally got it
its a fail cuz the piece has 3 studs whereas where the arrows r pointing has 4
M.C. Escher Fail.
It’s like trying to fit a square block into a circle hole. It never works out well…
…unless the sides of the square measure less than 70.71% the diameter of the hole.
I prefer Circular Blocks in Square Holes….
Escher could to it.
Lego fail? More like an M.C.Esher win
MC Escher Win.
Failure on my behalf for thinking I’d be original with a comment about MC Escher.
its called depth perception duhh !!, the arrows are pointing at the correct location.
its actually lego WIN, dumb consumers FAIL
Sorry, that is the exact opposite.
The Lego manufacturers will have to use the correct ‘Technik’, I suppose.
As a LEGO builder, this would make me pissed.
it’s an lego instruction by M. C. Escher!!
It dose not mater, any one with a brain can figure out where it goes.
(hint, look at the next page.)
come on this is evidently an escher win.
I use to hate when legos showed wrong directions.
What do you get when you cross M.C. Escher with H.R. Giger?
Your worst inexplicable nightmare!
lame…. seriously its a lame fail… i’ll just say that much…..
This is a great fail. People are just too perverted to realize that…
well if the arrows were in a 3-D environment, then from this angle this picture is correct because of perspective. but on a drawing it was kinda misleading. as the majority of commenters have shown.
As if Escher were on the job again…
what set is this?
I DONT KNOW!!
Probably just one of those cheap ripoffs.
Does anyone know what set this is from?
I use to hate it so much when the instructions didn’t work out exactly perfect.
Maybe there’s a side legend: “nails through here”
Do you say Leg-o or Leeee-go?
How can you make this big of a deal over a Lego instruction manual? It’s a fail, and that only!
Wonderful paintings! This is the kind of information that should be shared around the internet. Disgrace on the seek engines for now not positioning this publish upper! Come on over and discuss with my site . Thanks =)
