7 Eleven!
Inglorious Basterds
FYI, most koreans do not know who hitler is. Korean history itself is too long for these little asians to grasp, let alone WWII stuff.
FYI, 7 Eleven is Japan…
Right you are that 7-elevens are in Japan, but it appears they are also in Korea. Take a look at some of the signs that are obviously written in Korean.
Also, this bar is semi-legend among ex-pats in SK. I’ve heard about it, it is in Pusan.
you can find 7 eleven even in australia, wich is creepy close to austria…
warmooze: austria and australia are roughly 9789 miles (15753km) apart. i will be submitting your post to the fail blog
Your inability to tell that “close” doesn’t have to mean spatially and can also mean “similar in some way” (i.e. spelling) has made YOUR comment into a fail.
Easy: Austria is the one without the kangaroos.
But Austria is the one with the Hitler and Schwarzenegger ,)
Can we all just fail along?
Ya dude, they are two completely different continents.
I think he meant that it’s creepy close written…
Otherwise, it’s worth a post @ Failblog =D
Im german descent & born & live in Australia, that makes me close to Austria
:sigh:
Roughly 9789 miles (15753)? It that “roughly” because you didn’t use centimeters or inches?
Don’t you mean submitting to failbooking?
Idiot he meant the name
Yup, 7-11 is owned by the Japanese company 7i Holdings. They are one of the worlds largest convenience store companies. I am finding them everywhere in Asia.
Was purchased by a Japanese company. The original 7-11 is in South Carolina USA, still open 7 days a week, 11 hours a day as I understand it.
Actually, the original is in Dallas.
Actually, my understanding is that it was named 7-11 because it was the first really popular long hour shops, before tons of stuff became 24 hour. It opened at 7am and closed at 11pm.
I’m a Korean, and I KNOW that 7-eleven stores are in Korea. No, I’m seriously korean.
Not sure what you mean by that, Korean history dates back at least 5000 years. Perhaps you’re referring to the Korean war, but that is just one event in a very long timeline.
I respectively disagree on that one…
Is it possible to be more ignorant than this fool?
Yes. Praise be Allah.
Most Koreans don’t know who Hitler is??
Are you one of those english teachers who barely graduated middle school and is working in a hakwon with a $80 forged Harvard degree??
Cause no offense, but you sure reek of it.
I think they know who he is, but his name doesn’t have the same resonance it does in the western world. Think of it like a bar named after Pol Pot in Ronkokoma, NY. Yeah, plenty of educated locals could explain who he was but it wouldn’t inspire the same knee-jerk offense in the local community.
/Taught in a Hakwon
//Before I got my Harvard degree
///But it cost $100k, I overpaid.
South Korea? the country with the highest per capita concentration of Ph.Ds.? That Korea? They don’t know who Hitler was? c’mon…. plz
now if you said North Korea, but then I think the 7-11 would be a huge WIN
You do know that traditionally, Koreans have to pay money under the table to get a Ph.D, don’t you? It’s very common practice. I work at a university in Korea, and even our school won’t hire Korean Ph.D’s anymore. Seriously.
I wouldn’t say that’s a common practice. Though I’m sure it happens. It’s like saying, you can only get a promotion by paying the boss under the table. So you are saying most Koreans never heard of world war II and Hitler? Get the F out.
FY, we do know who the F is Hitler

Koreans DO know who Hitler is.
During World War 2, Korea was invaded shortly after Manchuria by the Japanese. The Japanese were allied with Hitler’s third reich. Koreans have not forgiven the Japanese, and have not forgotten that Germany gave them the go-ahead to begin invading mainland asia.
*Inglourious Basterds
nobody gives shit
so many take shit
In Soviet Russia shit takes you!
Calling you a grammar Nazi seems a bit inappropriate.
it would be inappropriate because he’s grammatically correct but cinematically incorrect; tarantino intentionally mispelled it
yeah, which is a kinda PC way of referencing an older movie of the correct spelling.
haha i cant believe thats a 7 eleven! cant make up stuff like that! xD
It was in Pusan in South Korea, it didn’t last very long.
Like the III. Reich…only 12 out of 1000 years.
not a Circle KKK? or a KKKFC?
:[
Bigotry will never cease to exist.
Are you talking to me or about the picture?
I guessed your sad face was because of the antisemitism. Maybe I was wrong, but I was talking to you about the picture.
Okay then.
Just can’t take him seriously, can we?
:[
I doubt there is any antisemitism involved, just ignorance of (or lack of care for) how much a bogeyman Hitler is in the west.
But everyone is born either philo-semitic or anti-semitic.
It’s the central defining fact of human nature.
I was born dontcareo-semitic
ditto i’m a don’tgiveshitsemitic…
anyway it’s almost a given that this sort of thing is seen not infrequently in asia, European history is not something taught that heavily in most asian countries (and conversely, how much modern asian history did we do in school in the west?… we learnt about Gandhi, some WWII pacific theatre stuff that was little more than old war US & Australian anti Japanese propaganda regurgitated half a century alter and some half arsed stuff about the Mao and the cultural revolution)
So the inappropriateness of it to people of other cultures it probably lost on them… or taken as a good shock value for marketing spin (something the US and Europe and its media are no better or worse at)
marxz – Thanks for the excellent objective reply. It is true that it goes the other way. Just last summer I saw a bicycle rider wearing a bright red shirt with the letters CCCP on the back. Nobody cared. I’m guessing if he were in Poland or any other ex-iron curtain country he wouldn’t have been wearing that shirt for long!
This place is 100% intentional. There is No mistake about Hitler. There is a big nazi movement in Japan.
Heres the Article: http://news.ronatvan.com/2009/11/30/the-rebirth-of-nazism-in-japan/
Umm… ronatvan.com embeds YouTube videos like “Blondes are Becoming Extinct.”
I don’t think a mediocre article by a sketchy “news” source is any indication of “a big nazi movement.” Their “sources” consist of pictures of goofy people in front of Nazi flags, members of of musical counter-culture, and plastic figurines for sale.
An indication that anti-nazism is not as prevalent in Japan? OK, sure. “Big nazi movement”? ha! no.
Sorry, dude. Maybe I have a different definition of ‘big.’ I wasnt talking about some huge political movement. Maybe I should have worded it differently, but I assume people are smart enough to know what I mean.
Besides, its big enough to have bars and clubs named after Hitler. In my book, it has to be somewhat big for that to happen.
Uh, look at the lettering. Seriously, try telling any Korean you think that place in the picture is Japan. Bad things will happen.
too bad, the picture was taken in Korea
Except the bar is in Korea.
poland and the other iron curtain countries i’ve visited are sadly clogged with souvenir stands selling exactly those shirts, plus lots of other tasteless communist crap.
Of all, people in the US are most bothered by USSR-artefacts. Except for the Vatican, they are slightly more shocked
Russians themselves still are proud of Lenin, I asked them before I let my brother buy one of those shirts. They even thought the KGB is ok. Or at least, the people I asked.
Only when you depict Lenin as a criminal, the Russians would be offended.
And why shouldn’t they be proud of the USSR? Their influence then was bigger than it is now.
As for satellite states, they have a right to be mad, but sadly, quite a few of them are worse off now, if they haven’t been accepted by the EU. And the latter simply don’t care, believe me.
I first apologize for my horrible grammar and run-on sentences in advance. Moving on,
thank you VERY MUCH for that statement. I couldn’t agree more.
I am a Korean student who studied half of his life in Korea, and other half in an american international school. based on my experience, Koreans barely gives shit about western history. As matter of fact, they legitimately speaking only learn korean history and no other. sure they learn a little bit of world history as they cruise through the Social studies/human science classes, but that’s about it. And also when I was in the international school, the history class there was pretty much europe and North America, and it was biased on the western angle as well.
For another example, there is this anti-apniard movement group in Philippines in the 18th century called KKK. I’m sure you’re laughing right now, but it’s a quite serious matter for the filipinos. As matter of fact, most are not actually knowledgeable of the white supremacy group KKK.
We seriously gotta stop with this ethnocentric stereotyping.
we can not blame anyone for this, we just have to understand the complete aspects of what we have.
that means we just don’t call all koreans retards because they use name of world’s biggest war criminal for name of their bar/club
Oh, you think that displaying signs of Hitler and the Nazi regime are not blatantly antisemitic? I guess each can have his own views.
If it was done in sheer ignorance, then no.
Don’t forget, Hitler was about more than just Jews. He also had it in for Blacks, Catholics, Gays, Retards….
Hitler was also Japan’s ally during WWII, when Japan committed any number of warcrimes against Koreans. It’s pretty hard to believe that a nation under the Japanese boot for decades would forget Japan’s role and allies in WWII.
So, it’s both antisemitic and a way to poke sticks in people’s eyes — sort of like “artists” who work in the medium of human excrement.
Its in Japan, not Korea
That’s not Japanese.
Look at the characters, those obviously aren’t Kanji.
uh yeah, I think Yamaneko is aware that the picture is from Korea… The “nation under the Japanese boot” was Korea. So much for knowing your history.
You’re correct, but no one would make a dance club named after Hitler without knowing who he was.
Foolishness is everywhere. Look at all the t shirts, tote bags, etc. glorifying another homicidal maniac called Che Guevara.
That’s just a point of view, fueled by the media.
As you may refer to the Americans as liberators of Iraq, I refer to Che Guevara as one of the freedomfighters for Cuba. What happened afterwards, was mostly the way Fidel implemented socialism. If democracy had been installed, he’ld been a hero amongst heroes.
Sadly, that wasn’t the case, following the schism communism vs capitalism.
……and I am outta here
NO!!!!!! don’t go!!!!
Wow.
In some case its more of a win
No.
definately not.
I see no win here.
Don’t reproduce.
^^Too busy gaming, no worries there.
I live in the South. Trust me, the dumber they are the better they breed.
Too soon?
Your dumb head is a win u nerd
Cool story, bro.
win
It’s a “BALLS win” as in they had to have balls of titanium to make this club and show all that to the world like this.
Just leaves you dumbstruck that someone had to gall to pull it off.
No matter what you do in your life, that picture will be always a legendary epic win
Fail all you want. If this were local I’d have a Nazi officer’s uniform made and learn to speak German, hang out and talk about the relative merits of commerically made ovens and how you can engineer box-cars to hold more lifestock. If you’re going to choose a theme like this is just begs people to make you regret it.
If he were really dead he’d be spinning in his grave right now.
What do you mean by that? Like if he hadn’t poisoned and shot himself and have his body burnt…?
Not to mention that if he were alive he would be 120 years old.
He means this: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/world-war-2/6237028/Adolf-Hitler-suicide-story-questioned-after-tests-reveal-skull-is-a-womans.html
well that only proves what has always been glaringly obvious to me, Hitler was a women!
Sorta like about half the Gravatars on the thread, huh?
Adolf says: “You must be this tall to enter”
You made my day
ItĀ“s him dancing to techno… they had strange moves back then…
Technoviking regularly enjoys upside down beer there.

… und wer nich tanzen will am Schluss, weiĆ noch nicht, dass er tanzen muss!
(Rammstein – “Amerika”)
YES! that’s a great song!!!
Do you americans really know what Amerika by Rammstein wants to say?
I don’t know German, but I always assumed most of their songs would translate to something like “damn you america, and your stupid allies, WE WILL RISE AGAIN! HIEL HITLER!!!”
Lol ^^
First of all, it’s Heil, second, they’re no Hitler-fans… I’ld think they’re commies, assuming I understood ‘Moskau’ correctly.
Singing ’bout Moscow as the greatest city on earth, with pioneers over there singing songs about Lenin…
Old photo, photo is old….circa 2002….everyone chill
go do some research it’s been renamed i believe, hilarious though, Koreans don’t know european history at all….it’s just plain funny!
How much do you know about Asian history?
Enough to know I wouldn’t be naming anyplace the Hirohito Bar, or Gengis Khan Bar, or Mao Bar.
There are “Mao” Chinese Restaurants in England, Ireland, Scotland, Australia and the US
http://www.cafemao.com/
http://www.ireland-guide.com/_fileupload/image/maoext.jpg
http://foragingotaku.blogspot.com/2009/07/hunanese-cuisine-at-chairman-mao.html
http://grabyourfork.blogspot.com/2009/12/chairman-mao-chinese-restaurant.html
yes, but the word “mao” also means “cat” in mandarin, so it couldjust be advertising, like kfc!
OMG. So we could do pics with Mao the lolcat?
….YES! =D
There’s a Dead Kennedys song about taking a holiday in Cambodia with Pol Pot.
Chairman Meow is a popular cat name.
Not to mention all the cool merchandise glorifying the homicidal maniac Che Guevara.
I’m sorry, did somebody page me?
In Yangshou, Guangxi there is a bar named Mickey Mao’s. and lots of times I saw Mickey mouse t-shirts with mickey wearing the iconic Mao hat and jacket. The Mao wrist watches are hilarious.
As far as I know Mao is still celebrated as a great communist leader in China (his face is on the Yaun Renmimbe, the national currency of the PRC), Gengis Khan is ancient history (therefore the topic of much dark fascination, much like the Ceasers of ancient Rome, or the Vikings raiders of Scandinavia), and Japan still has an Emperor and Imperial family, so Hirohito is still respected as a past emperor of Japan. In truth, we (most westerners) aren’t tought enough asain history to name figures as infamous as Hitler.
Let’s face it, they obviously knew about a guy called Hitler and also about his link to the swastika. It’s kinda of hard to know that stuff without knowing a bit about WWII.
Just because it’s old doesn’t mean we still can’t enjoy the fail.
Fails are timeless. They are a fail from their first day until the great collapse ends the internets.
Great bar. I would visit it.

someone with time on their hands
clickie (This is from the recent remake.)
It’s from “The Producers”
Meh, I prefer “Der Fuehrer’s Face”.
A really long post.
Holy sheepshit! You expected someone to read ALL that? I mean I may not have a life, but even I have better things to do.
I’ll tell you this. This is possibly the worst song to get stuck in your head in a crowded place.
…in Germany, absolutely! After watching the film I kept getting weird looks when I sang out loud at work
“Springtime for Hitler in Germany
Winter for Poland and France…”
A stage version was put on in Germany last year. (clickie)
And now I’ll have John Barrowman’s bleached-blond head in *my* head for the next few hours. At least he’s pretty. And can sing liek woah.
In Korea, the budda symbol looks similar to the Nazi symbol. It’s entirely possible that a korean guy mistakenly looked into this and based his club on it. Someone should tell him though.
The symbol perhaps, but the name? Nope. This is definitely no mix up. Just someone not realizing that people could still be offended by 50 year old foreign history.
Yes, it’s 50 years ago. So what? Does that make it less bad? Should we forget about it and let somebody else do something like that? Mind you, the hutus and the tutsies basically had the same thing going on, and the Western world ignored it. Lovely.
If somebody murdered your mum 50 years ago, would it be OK by now?
So how much do *you* know about 50 year old history that did not involve your own country? Enough to never ever misjudge how people who were directly involved (or whose parents were) might feel about it?
No the nazis stole the swastika from the buddhists because it stood for happiness or something
The swastika can stand for life and happiness (when it “runs” counterclockwise, just like Hitler used it) or for death, when it “runs” the other way round.
People are usually shocked when they visit India for example, where a swastika is a very common symbol.
It’s all over Japan as well. You get a tourist map, and the Buddhist temples are marked by swastikas. (Shinto shrines are marked by torii gates. Just FYI. In case you ever need to know. Or something.)
actually i don’t think that they took it from the buddhists since ancient european tribes used this symbol too.
Yup, the Isle of Man still has a three-legged swastika in its flag. Nothing to do with the Nazis.
(and stop making excuses for the Korean nitwit who came up with this!)
The “three-legged swastika” is usually known as a triskele or triskelion (from Greek, and meaning “three-leg”). The Manx version can be seen on the coat of arms and flag at the Wikipedia article (clickie), several others at

I invoke Godwin’s Law (more than likely inappropriately) and no-ones allowed to say anything.
I mean there’s a 7-11 under it, it can’t be too bad, right???? RIGHT???
not even troll eating cheese monkeys.
is german techno Kraftwerk?
Kraftwerk were the first to produce techno in Germany (back in the 80s). I doubt many techno fans listen to Kraftwerk any more. Maybe they prefer Scooter?
irony lost
I was trying to repress that memory…
Kraftwerk were the first to do electronic music. Starting in 1968! Yes, thatās right! When others still did the flower power thing.
Techno, together with hip-hop grew out of the same ancestor in the 80s. Back then, they were the same thing. But then grew apart.
Kraftwerk never did techno, and were never called techno. But since you Americans throw everything in the techno bucket, that has any electronic instrument in them, you call it techno too.
And about what we listen to nowadays? Well, the biggest scene is in the Netherlands. Look at the big festivals, like the Sensation White (softer), Sensation Black (harder), Mayday (THE techno festival), Nature One, etc.
irony lost mark 2
Kraftwerk started making techno in the late ’60s.
You’re only out by a mere 20 years.
FAHR’N FAHR’N FAHR’N AUF DIE AUTOBAHN!
Should have used a pocket calculator, I suppose?
Those must be the sprinklers… do you smell gas?
Someone, tell me where I find this. I will buy a ticket to Korea and learn Korean just to see this.
You can find this somewhere in Korea.
SIEG
HEIL!
Du bist ein Vollidiot!! Keiner glaubt das mehr! Arschloch!!
If you have a single brain cell left, you should be able to understand what this means…
UNITE UNDER THE IRON CROSS
This is one of the definitely most epic fails of this site of all time.
Also, massive history fail.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OLD
Wow, why,who, what….
NEIN!!!
DOCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jajajajaja, mein führer!!!
David Duke?
Old pic is old…
I wonder how old this picture is. I already saw this almost 10 years ago.
WHAT THE F***!
That’s a shame for failblog to post a f***sake picture like that! What the f***ing hell is wrong with you goddamn?
It’s humorless and just stupid to bring something up like that. It’s NOT funny to laugh about something like that.
I would blow the owner head with a magnum 44 away.
And to all the guys writing Heil and other shit on that picture, I hope you all get killed by someone like hitler, u retarded trolls!
……time to change your name mayhaps?
I don’t give a shit because the name is fun and this ain’t something to do with fun.
Sorry for the grammar mistakes but atm I’m like °##§°#§°#§°#S!!!!!!!!!!°##!!!!!°#§°#¬§°§|°§!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you know what I meant.
Dude take a chillpill, we get it! Its an inappropriate picture!
If you did not notice by his ānicksentenceā (nickname sentence), he is a psychopath and has big mental problems. I know because I met him. He should be on pills. Big time. But refuses to take them. And because he did not yet hurt anyone physically, they canāt force him. (Thatās the law.)
Try just not to engage with him. Itās pointless. He could not make a proper argument, even if his life would depend on it.
Heās actually quite pitiable.
So you would viciously kill the people joking about a picture of a guy who viciously killed millions of people…who said the people he killed were responsible for the vicious deaths of millions of people before him…who died vicious deaths in a vicious war caused by general viciousity…need to rethink your strategy there bud, history says it won’t work.
Specifying the weapon you will employ also does not help your case, as said crime will be easily tracked when they match the bullet =]
Dude your just right man!
OMFG!1!!!! it’s Little Hitler~!!!
Achtung! Blitzdance.
HALT!!!
Hammerzeit!
HAH!! XD
Where is this?
The great republic of Korea.
if you’re going to have no idea of ANYTHING then please do it in private
Concur that the picture is old. That place was there when I left Korea in January of 2001. I’ve got a picture of it laying around.
As posted earlier, the vast majority of Koreans would be fairly clueless as to how that would affect most Westerners.
I dont see the problem. Theres a chain of bars called ‘Capones’…streets names after George W Bush…Both of which murdered countless innocent people too. But thats acceptable?
Double standards people..double standards! just have a nice Glass of stfu juice with a shot of vodka and enjoy the bar. Welcome to hitlers!
Did someone just punched your face for about 1000 times or your just dumb because your dumb?
yes.
It looks like.
Okey you gave me the answer without answering. Yes to a question with 2 possibilitys. Let your brain get back to the place where it should be.
lolwat
Wow. He may be wrong, but at least he had proper arguments / logic. You, on the other hand, just attacked him personally with primitive ad hominem fallacies. Sorry mate, but EPIC FAIL!
Besides: Youāre a troll anyway.
Go learn yourself some propositional logic, before trying to discuss with the grown ups. Even the very wrong ones.
*cue everyone in the room laughing AT you*
You obviously fail to understand certain differences, both in numbers and in basic principle. Only a severe case of idiocy can explain such a lack of understanding. Therefore you’re excused, as far as I am concerned.
ARTHUR YOUR MY MAN! I LOVE YOU DUDE!
“principle and numbers?” lolwat? is there a number of innocent people you can murder before a bar in your name is unacceptable? is there a cap?
“few hundred thousand people murdered? oh thats ok.. But this guy who has murdered millions is totally unacceptable! its the principle!”
Lol. you sir.. are an idiot. Double standards.
Lolz…. good point. Though I think there must be a minimum and you can’t be a total creeper; you never see a Charles Manson themed bar…
The difference in principle is that Nazism inherently includes genocides (notice the plural?), de-civilizing of millions and mass enslavement. Try to learn something someday, might help you to look less like a total fool.
Funny thing about you comment is you forgot to do your homework.
Believe me when I say that you certainly don’t want to discuss this topic with me. Also, learn to spell correctly.
I was going to hang here and try to educate some people with you AE, but I just can’t. The belligerent ignorance is more than I care to deal with. *Squeeze*
See that one below? What can a man say to that? But still, I think I will. Maybe.
What’s the point? It is obviously baiting you instead of trying to defend its statement. I mean really, comparing Al Capone or Bush to Hitler?
I guess you’re right. I think I’ll better leave.
*Gets AE’s hat and coat*
It’s for the best. You have better things to do with your time than talking sense to troll.
If the fail choice doesn’t change soon I think I might have better things to do than being here altogether. Mentally ill on a plane, lots of pedophilia-related stuff and now this? All in just one week? :[
Make sure the door knob is Urine free on your way out.
You can pick and choose, AE. And asshats like the one between us right now who can’t have a civil discussion aren’t worth the frustration.
Show me where I said that mass murder is okay as long as it wasn’t Hitler. You can’t? I thought so.
Just so you know, you’re now very high on my shitlist.
Capone didn’t murder innocent people, he explicitly ordered his men never to harm women or children. And Bush? Never insult a public servant that way, it’s just disgusting.
Can’t you just lay your shaped head under a train?
You’re being rude. And yes i can do it, but i won’t. Can you?
Calling me being rude? Even your name is more rude or the shit with Sieg Heil shit you wrote above.
And no you can’t, because your a brainless nazi with one of the stupides views of life and history, so just STFU and get off.
… If the nazis were brainless… >___> god help us all….
Well, your brothers would probably be a little disappointed that you couldn’t spell ‘heil’ correctly.
Just saying
Oops missed that one. Well i’m only human.
That’s the problem. You’re not.
Does your ābrother-in-causeā also help you masturbate to the arrogance of your own ignorance?
Until you grow up & realize character means more than semantics or pigmentation, youāre proving to be another exemplary definition how Humanity has become a virus.
Several people are off their medication this morning.
I thought YouTube comments finally arrived here.
WTF IS THAT? XD

Ich bezweifle, dass es allzu viele koreanische Nazis gibt.
i fürcht de gibts überoi
Dummheit gibt es leider überall. Ich mein, es gibt auch polnische Nazis…
Sogar russische.
Ja. Schwarze. Im protestmarsch mit Hitlerbildern und Hakenkreuzflaggen.
Sadly, there are even Latino gangs and biker gangs that use Nazi paraphernalia as symbols to show how crazy they can be. I would question the freedom of the people in those marches in south africa.
Naja…Dumme Fails bringen dumme Menschen dazu solchen Müll zu reden.
commandant? Go back to school…

I’ve seen that place personally. It’s in Seoul.
I’m in Seoul and want to find this place to take a pic. Do you know where it is?
Do you know where in Seoul it is? I want to take a pic!
http://www.unpopart.org/readymades/techno.html
the bar was renamed in 2003 already.
nowhere near up to date, like 10 years old photo.
nich nur polnische nazis hannes, ich find die amerikanischen noch viel besser… die “coolen”.. :/
wollen wir jetzt streiten, wo es die besten nazis gibt?
Oxymoron.
eben
I don’t believe that this bar is/was run by Korean nazis. Probably more like a “Prince-Harry-Fail”. Somone thought it might be funny…
Wie gesagt, Dummheit gibt es überall.
Alcohol macht frei
Blƶdsinn – Alkohol macht dicht…
I dont think that this is because Koreans wouldnt know about Hitler. Korea was occupied by Japan, which was germanys ally and a practically a nazi state too. There are no Hirohito bars in Europe either…So the owners probably did this intentionally
At least it’s hard to imƤgine how a developed nation like South Korea could miss the Shoah. But maybe that’s just Eurocentric thinking.
even if they were not tought about Hitler at school, i still wonder where the bar owners got their information about him from. They had to learn how to spell his name, they got his photo, they found the swastikas – yet they dont know who he was? Im not buying it..
Having seen pictures of Hitler and Nazi symbols doesn’t mean they have to know what he did and stands for. I’d say as a “cultural” icon, Hitler and swastikas are pretty well known worldwide. But knowing enough about him, his actions and believes, to strictly refuse everything Nazi-ish? That’s not even the case here.
yeah, but somebody probably had to tell them Hitler was a nice guy, otherwise they wouldnt choose him as a mascot. If you show a picture of Hitler to someone who doesnt know him and you only say : “this is Hitler”, theyll probably say : “so what” – they wont name their club after him, hes not that handsome
Sadly, this appears to be a case of wanting shock value without really knowing what the value of the shock really is.
*Cries for the ignorant*
Just beacuse Japan allied with Germany in WWII doesn’t mean Koreans will know much about german history.
If anyone want to hear the whole story about this bar you should read on this site.
http://www.unpopart.org/readymades/techno.html
The owner himself are making his opinion and explanaition why he choosed this improper name. Cheers
Every infamous genocidal history figure gets a techno bar.
Pretty standard.
There’s an European-Colonist-Arriving-in-the-New-World Rap Bar, but Americans mostly ignore it.
You mean like the General Custer Karaoke Bar? Or the Witch-burning Pope Sports Bar?
I’m actually not really convinced. But that may be because I come from a country where the “Hakenkreuz” and the “HitlergruĆ” are prohibited. We just don’t joke on that…
Exactly like the Witch-burning Pope Sports Bar, but with less hockey.
Your country outlaws the Hitler Salute? Then how do you say hello?
To “jokes” like that one my way of saying hello is raising my middle finger. Consider it done.
It is my understanding that the HitlergruĆ was a German greeting (though certainly taboo considering its past use…).
It’s astounding that the the man’s name still evokes such fear and division among people, especially considering the atrocities that litter history. Despite my Irish ancestry, for example, I’m not offended by any pub named after Henry. Should I be?
If seriousness is the only tone allowed regarding Hitler and Nazi party symbols, then I suppose the man has won some small victory after all.
You didn’t mock Hitler or the Nazis, you “joked” about todays Germans. By linking them to the Nazi era. That isn’t funny and it’s also lacking creativity.
To improve your knowledge:
The Nazi salute wasn’t a common German greeting, the Nazis invented it. Nowadays it’s just (neo-)Nazis who still use it – and they might face legal consequences when they get caught. It is illegal to do that. When it comes to “atrocities that litter history” the Nazis were the worst ever. Oh, and it’s not over: Survivors are still alive and traumatas have been passed on to the next generations.
Joke as much about Hitler or the Nazis as you want, ridicule him, that’s no problem in principle. But you should be aware that you’re on a field full of historic landmines. Don’t be surprised when people think you’re crossing the line, especially not when you insult 80+ million people by insinuating they’re still using the Hitler salute.
(repeated, because I don’t know how this works)
I don’t think Anyone, aside from the self-proclaimed Nazis out there, uses the Hitler salute (sort of my point). I’ve no idea what country the responder hails from, but I wasn’t targeting any one country.
But I get it. Let’s try to keep FB comments from being tasteless and offensive. Roger Roger.
A few questions though. How do you measure atrocity, and how many atrocity-metrics would you say Stalin is behind Hitler? How does he compare to Hideki? Nixon? Mao Dong? Satoshi Tajiri?
you say hi by waving and saying hi in germany, r’tard
Found more info about this bar from a Jewish freelance writer who was working there ( Korea )at the time it opened
http://jewishindependent.ca/archives/Mar02/archives02mar01-08.html
I wonder can you book them for Bar-Mitzvahs….
“Now is the time on Sprockets vhen ve dance!”
Looks like a bank above it, meaning the Jews are up top planning to burn that mother down.
Wir mussen die Juden aus tanzen!
How do the waitress serve you? Saying “Hail hitler”?
Israel über alles
wow some people i know would call that jewish xD
Burn it!
lol 7 Eleven~
I’m not too surprised some people thought this was Japan and not Korea–so did I at first–because if there’s something wacky and tasteless to be done, Japan is usually way ahead of the curve. I don’t know whether to congratulate Korea for outdoing their island neighbor or slap the club’s owner upside the head for ever having the idea.
Oh well. At least he’s not surrounded by pictures of schoolgirls with eyes the size of dinner plates.
Uuum, how does the Korean writing on the banner not obviously give it away?
dance club win?

“They took out the Hitler building!”
I used to live in Korea and they’re just as crazy as Japan. I still have some friends there. I’ll let them know about this. Perhaps they could get a discount if they hold their son’s Bar Mitzvah here.
Douchbaggery on a truly epic scale.

Please explain why several people confirmed this higher up in the thread…

There’s no “FAIL” font big enough for this one.
HITLER WIN
What is with all of these really tasteless fails lately?
win but only if the have wolvenstein chicks in inside
lol wtf? i guess it def drew attention if that is what they wanted to do! don’t agree with it but there u have it. if any of you drive VW cars you can’t hate hitler too much because he designed them even if he was a sick twisted old loony and america uses some of his military designs. fascinating historical facts there. so win for the attention grabber but fail on the name.
I prefer the Kaiser Club
Guys, to state the obvious – this site is FAILblog. Naming a club after Hitler is definitely a fail, even if you don’t find it funny. Sweeping stuff like this under the rug would eventually allow another Hitler to rise and do the same things.
So this is actually a part of never forgetting.
The by far best picture that fits the occasion is… *clicky my name*
I dunno.. I think you should probably go in just to be safe.. we know what happens with nazis when you don’t join their party..
Then again.. You can’t spell Führer without ü
Your mom looks shopped.
Whatever you do, don’t order the Bloody Mary
Blow it up Cruise!
What? Too soon?
DAMN JEWS!!!
Well they probably fail at history, but they sure win in video games
Our raves will have you saluting all night long.
what.
IT’S A TRAP!
Dear Lord , they rebuilt the Hitler building from “Invasion of the Neptune Men.”
Das ist mir sheiĆegal… Ich habe lederhosen.
Right… Name? Address? Preferred method of dispatchment? I feel like Mossad would like to be your ‘friend’… Nazis are no bueno, my friend.
I guess we know what Cubans feel like when they see us wearing Che shirts.
YAAAAAAAH I can relate to a FAIL finally. I’ve been to this bar its in Busan, Korea!~!! I remember some Canadians being in there and cussing out the Owner
Nazi-themed things aren’t unusual in Korea.
http://briandeutsch.blogspot.com/search/label/Nazis%20in%20Korea
A few years ago they had a cosmetics ad using a model dressed as a Nazi soldier. They eventually modified the ads after complaints from the Simon Wiesenthal Center, but the new versions were about as bad as the old ones.
http://briandeutsch.blogspot.com/2008/04/new-coreana-nazi-video-pretty-much-same.html
The video isn’t online anymore, unfortnately.
There’s also a Rommel Hof in Mokpo:
http://briandeutsch.blogspot.com/2009/04/mokpos-rommel-hof.html
And a Nazi mural in downtown Gyeongju:
http://briandeutsch.blogspot.com/2008/02/nazi-mural-in-gyeongju.html
Koreans are the only people on Earth who actually believes that the little peninsula of Korea has 5,000 years of History. Next they will claim that they built the pyramids.
I wonder if this place sells the Hitler Salt and Pepper Shakers that were being sold at Japan’s “Hitler Building” before it got blown up by aliens invaders from Neptune.
I once read a story about this…I thought it was made up. Apparently, the owner thought this would attract European tourists.
Ya know..I’ve always wondered how much it must’ve sucked to be one of the probable thousands of other people with Hitler for a surname who found themselves in 1930something going “Oh s**t I better change my name. How about McHitler..or O’Hitler…or Hitlerton?”
To put it into perspective, imagine a Korean in Europe coming across a club called “COMFORT WOMEN”, and the slogan, “WE TREAT YOU LIKE JAPANESE SOLDIERS”, then gauge the response…
You would see people chopping off their hands in protest
ķķė¬ FTW
Come To Hitler’s and “Dance the Mussolini”… (Song of the German Band DAF in the early 80s)
I say lets give the owner a break. The man was unaware of the atrocities committed by Hitler, and only chose him as an easily recognizable cultural icon to fit with the German theme of their bar. Choosing Genghis Khan as the theme for a Mongolian restaurant might not piss many people off today, but lets not forget the Mongols caused similar death and destruction, but without regard. Not everyone is as well educated as we are (members of developed nations in Europe and North America), so we can’t let our feelings get out of control if we see some slip up like this.
The owner did change it too, in case anyone was wondering. He was deeply apologetic.
Great fail though =)
This bar is in Seoul. There is also a Rommel (sp?) jazz club in a city called Mokpo (also in Korea).
Yep, here’s the Rommel club. There’s some debate about how bad it actually is:
http://briandeutsch.blogspot.com/2009/04/mokpos-rommel-hof.html
This is actually a thing. I freaked out when I heard about it but in Japan and … evidently Korea there’s a kinda fashion cult that likes to dress up like the SS and party on down. I have no idea why and frankly I’m scared and offended, but … I suspect that’s what this is.
But most people are totally OK with glorifying the homicidal maniac Che Guevara by wearing his murderous mug plastered on their t-shirt. How come he gets a free pass?
WIN!!!
…still they don’t even know what it means so they don’t care at all
300th! yeah baby
I haven’t been to this pub myself but I know people who have. Its in Daegu, Korea. I could’ve gone but I didn’t really see the appeal.
Anyway, when it comes to Korean history, Koreans think everything is sacred. But foreign history is all fair game. Hitler/Nazi themed advertisements were a big fad here until a few foreign companies threatened to withdrawal from the country which forced them to stop.
But yes… having lived here for years, I can tell you that most Koreans know anything about World War 2 (younger Koreans don’t know much about the Korean War) nor do they care. They just like the symbols/fashion/theme…
I guess that’s somewhat similar to Americans and fashion, you see people wearing asian cartoon characters all the time, or writing, without really understanding its meaning. They just think it’s “cute ^___^” (when, there’s a real possibility that someone from that area of origin will see it and mentally go “Why!?”.
Don’t mention the war!
Oh man this is awkward….
i found nothing wrong with the pic.. yeah~ its hitler.. so wut.. i can name my bar jesus if i want
Yeah it is in Korea absolutely.
It’s just indicative of insular thinking that predominates in many Asian countries. Intellectually, most Koreans can tell you who Hitler is and probably be able to regurgitate facts and dates about the WWII better than most US students. However, there is a substantial disconnect between the academic facts and the true atrocities Hitler and his regime committed. I bet you that most Koreans will say that Nazi signs look “cool” and they had the best “uniforms” because they simply don’t have the emotional link to it.
But if you want to watch some Koreans lose their mind, open a Comfort Women Hostess Bar and watch the entire nation take up arms. This isn’t because what happened to the comfort women during WWII by the Japanese is “worse” than the Holocaust (and that would be extremely difficult argument to make) but because Koreans are much more invested emotionally in the comfort women saga.
Just adding to your comment.. Go to Japan and say that the atomic bombs were a great idea and that they deserved it. Now go to America and say the same thing.
ps: i am Japanese decedent and what i said is an example. I dont live in japan and never being there but i believe the bombs must have some effect in people like the Holocaust has to Jewish.
For anyone in Korea to be pro white power is fail enough, but to make a big public spectacle of it is like saying you’re not gay while wearing your best friend;s face on your underpants.
I can’t believe I just stumbled across this!! This place was in Pusan, Korea, when I was there in 2002.
After many complaints, they decided to ‘fix’ the problem – by changing the ‘A’ and ‘H’ to Ds, making it the ‘Ddolf Ditler’ bar!!! Seriously. Kept all of the Hitler imagery, swastikas, tanks etc.
Ddolf Ditler!!! WTF!
Ddolf Ditler….i will name one of my children that…. i would lol a lot if they stated it was their final solution! aehaeheahae
Hey guys! im Allowed to go in the club, C’mon lets kill those jews!!!
DDDDD O.o
arrghh.
Also ich würde dort abfeiern wollen
i like cheese
Yes that place is in Busan. I used to pass that bar and people(my friends and family whom I’ve talked about it) also think that place should change it’s name. There are always stupid people everywhere you go, and the owner is just one of them just wanting to stand out of the other ones. Korea was a colony of Japan for over 50 years and all Koreans know that Hitler was a madman for war. Shamed of this turning out to be a issue overseas. -_-a
all of the fuhrer may celebrate now
I cant beleive that there’s a 7 -eleven down there (and not a circle KKK)
kkk =/= nazi.
No fail.
Epic win.
Thats not a FAIL. It certainly is a Epic Win!
wierd how ads on most fails have to do with the fail, like on this one im seeing an ad for a korean dating site :\
The mosh pit is f u c k i n g A w e s o m e !
I’m not sure that’s part of 711, it could be another place built on top.
hahahha only in korea man. I am korean and I have to say that there is a lot of weird things in korea. It is so funny how I am not suprised by this.
“The place were skinheads can enjoy a decent drink, far away from cities full of filthy immigrants and commies.”
