I don’t really get it. I mean, I get that there is rickrolling, and I get how it works, I just can’t understand why does it have to be *that* song? Just because it’s quirky and the video features a funny-looking guy? Good morning, according to latest research, 65.8% of all music videos made in the 80′s feature quirky music and funny looking guys! And about 40% of the rest just don’t fit that category because they were made by all girl bands. So, yeah. They could have just used the Ghostbusters theme song. Then you’d be “ghostbuster’d”. Egon actually resembles Rick Astley a lot.

Rick Astley created a wildy popular song in 1987 title “Never Gonna Give You Up”. 2 or 3 years ago an internet craze started with people tricking their friends into either clicking email links that would make the music video pop up or watching very serious web videos that would switch over to Rick’s music video right as they were hitting the height of seriousness. Rick has a catchy but sort of wierd voice and the dance he does in the video is hilarious (youtube it). SOOO many people were sending these things around that the act of Rick Rollin became a cliche. The elderly gentleman got Rick Roll’d in a very clever new way by being tricked into reciting the lyrics from the song on a real news stations and was touched by the email. The humor is a little cruel but ultimately harmless…and hilarious.
