It definitely hasn’t been photoshopped. I lived in the house behind it for ten years… The sign kept vanishing because people would steal it and the council would keep putting it back up!

there is a Slutshole lane in Norfolk,UK. The street sign is stolen a lot. So whether this pic is shopped or not, it is an actual street name.

For the record, this is a real street name. It’s in England, mid way between Thetford and Norwich. If you use Multimap and type the name in, you’ll find it. Not so much a street as a country lane with very few buildings along it. I’d love to know the etymology.

Good point. The Dutch word for (I think) river or stream is “kill”. So in the east coast of the US there are a lot of place names with the word “kill” in them.
Well, actually in the Netherlands they call river’s : “rivier” and a stream is: “een stroom”. I live in the Netherlands, so I know… but I don’t know where the word “kill” comes from.
“Kill” is scots gaelic for “saint”.
… or rather: is derived from the Gaelic “cill”. It’s mostly used in church names.
The American English word “kill” meaning channel, stream, &c, comes from a Dutch word “kil”, meaning channel. I don’t know whether British English has picked-up this word.
Not to my knowledge, we tend to call channels and streams, umm, channels and streams !
