Airbags deflate almost instantly and that one stayed inflated for almost 10 seconds. Which is about 8 seconds longer then normal.

Yup, agreed the camera zoom in looks uber fake. Also, the sensor for the airbags in generally under the center console or under a seat etc. Hitting the airbag it’s self isn’t likely to set it off.

Why this is BS:
1) CCTV cameras do not generally have sound
2) CCTV cameras do not generally zoom in
3) Airbags do not deploy when a car i stationary
4) When airbags deploy, they deflate: that’s how they *work*, they deflate to decelerate you slowly.

Airbags are set of by sensors in the front bumper bar… (fender?) not the dash or steering wheel.
the CCTV Camera (oddly picking up audio as well) conveniently zooms in until the front is just out of shot giving someone the chance to give it a decent wack at just the right moment and quickly back away, after which the camera zooms back out.

Darkith did not fail, he’s right. If a parked car is hit its airbags won’t go off. Airbags are a security devices that can hurt, and car constructors do not want to have a trial because their airbag hurt someone when they shouldn’t. The command that controls the pyrotechnic powder are simply turned off when the contact key is not on.

However there is an exception for some side-inpact protection that are embedded in the seat, like the Volvos’ Side Impact Protection System: they are fully autonomous with their own accelerometers, but still need to receive the +12V that is cut when the contact key is out.

lol why would someone stage that… an airbag is strong enough to break your ribs and your nose if your face is low enough. it was a defective air bag. Airbags go off pending on when the manufacturer designs them to go off in a wreck. Usually its like 15 miles an hour… he would have to be seriously beating that crap with a hammer in order for it to go off like that if it was a good airbag. You fail Darkith… i win.

firstly, airbags can go off even with the ignition out, so it’s not based on computers etc, it’s impact based, and he appears to headbutt his steering wheel. secondly, in car parks, they do have sound, to listen for alarms going off.

Fake.

The airbag is controlled by a device similar to a blackbox on an airplane. The box on your car is much simplier, as it only meaures accellerations. The airbag in the steering wheel will only go off when the car experiences a very large acceleration toward the rear of the vehicle. It will not go off when the car is sitting still, or when you are rear-ended, no matter how hard you bang on the dashboard.

Also, as stufer pointed out, CCTVs don’t record sound.

Guys you must see that this is a fake video. There is a slight chance that the actual video itself is real. But the audio is clearly overdubbed. Why would the security camera have a MIC any how?

The zooming is clearly done afterwoods in editing, along with the audio overdub

It was the case in 1968 when the first airbag was invented.

But modern airbags are commanded by a computer that takes the wheels speed and accelerometers into account. Furthermore, the crash has to be in the correct direction – if the car is hit from behind, the front airbags should not go off.

BTW there is a slight risk that the airbags go off when the car just had an accident and the airbags didn’t go off yet.
