She most likely will. She’s up on criminal charges for it. The officer that took the picture was suspended for a month. (Cell phones and cameras are not permitted inside prisons in NY)

Possibly, possibly not, sleeping on the job usually qualifies as gross misconduct, unless the shift you work is longer than (I think) about 13 hours.
Union protection sure helps. Or are prison guards unionized? Essential services.? So many question and no googleable answers.
Yes, unionized, but probably won’t help her much in this case. Sleeping on the job in corrections in NY is not permitted no matter what the length of shift.

Nice, sounds like some of the people I speak to on a daily basis, I may borrow that on occasion.
I’m actually kind of offended that this made it to this page. I actually know this officer, I’ve spoken to her on a few occasions while we were in the hospitals. No one mentions that in the jail she works in she is FORCED to work overtime and had already logged in 90+ hours OT. The real fail is the officer that took the picture and got it sent out to the media. It’s also disgusting that he let an inmate pose over his partner like that. That’s something you JUST DON’T DO in our line of work. We have to protect each other because we are easily outnumbered and the person in next you you may be the one to save your ass.
It’s unfortunate that she will possibly lose her job because of being SERIOUSLY over-worked.
And also we REALLY don’t like to be called Prison Guards. We’re Correction Officers we don’t guard a prison. It’s

she can sleep on the job all she wants and slack off and have a bad attitude and never worry about losing her job because she knows that anyone that would dare fire her would be racist

My question is, who was her partner to take this picture and allow an inmate to participate. See way to much of this crap in prisons. Employees get way to freindly with inmates! That is how drugs get in these places. Makes me ill to see this, I know Officers are over worked.
