1. Philipp says:

FIRST!

2. I.P.Knightly says:

BREAST!

3. loufail says:

I need to stop using Listerine.

4. And you know if they had to post a sign about it someone already did it….. lmao

5. bo3rn says:

there is always a reason for such signs: retarted people

• AferVentus says:

I think someone’s in the spirit.

• Steaming Pile says:

No, bourbon. Only limp-wristed f**s drink gin in Kentucky. And given that Shelbyville is about 30 miles east of Louisville, ground zero of the state’s liquor industry, it isn’t surprising that people would be drunk while paying their DUI fines.

There are two kinds of counties in Kentucky, dry ones where you have to drive for awhile to find a wet county in which to buy your liquor, and wet ones (like Jefferson County, of which Louisville was the county seat before it just ate the whole damn thing), which are so wet, you can buy Jim Beam at the grocery store.

6. Faily McFailfail of Failingham Failhurst says:

Seventh!!!

7. RushnGreen says:

Courthouse win; drunk drivers fail.

8. atlasfits says:

Sounds to me like a courthouse win, frankly.

9. ali says:

why is it not a good idea? You could always walk to the office to pay the fine… drunk as a skunk…

• Joe says:

I don’t understand, either. What are they going to do to you? They could charge you with public drunkenness, but I’m not sure having “alcohol on your breath” is enough for that. The worst that could happen, I suppose, is they could have an officer follow you out and see if you’re driving? It’s not illegal to drink again just because you’ve had a DUI.

• sbbn says:

Potentially, they could hold you in contempt and throw your ass in jail, slap you with a bunch of community service and a big fine.

• Etymological Disaster says:

The sign says “not a good idea”, not “illegal”. There are plenty of perfectly legal, completely bad ideas to choose from if you were so inclined.

• Ian says:

If you’re on probation for a DUI, you’re not allowed to drink. The court can order that you get randomly tested, or make you wear an ankle bracelet that will report you if you drink, or (in the more extreme cases), force you to take a drug that will make you very, very ill if you drink.

• Etymological Disaster says:

*sigh*

• ONEJaz says:

It is actually just dependant on state laws. Where I live, for a first offense DUI, you would simply have a revocation of your license and unsupervised probation. On the other hand in Iowa, where I got my OWI (operating a vehicle while intoxicated), I had to serve jail time in addition to unsupervised probation. I am, however, still allowed to drink as I please, though I cannot drive as my license has been revoked.

• ONEJaz says:

Or dependant on federal laws, too, I suppose.

• VeggieTart says:

Yes, and a number of them are in the Darwin Awards.

Personally, I think this is a WIN.

• hadrick says:

If you are sentenced to probation, as I was for my DUI, it is illegal to drink. But you’d be surprised how many of my colleagues show up to court, community service, drug and alcohol counseling, etc. after drinking alcohol. This is actually really common.

• Big Legged Woman says:

For some repeat offenders, it IS part of their probation to remain sober.

*cough* how do I know that?

10. Yordee says:

In Soviet Russia, the fine pays you

11. Well says:

why not??

12. granny says:

The judge is a recovering alcoholic and will probably try to rape you

13. Aja says:

I’m duing fine.

14. Andrew Wiggin says:

This is a win for the courthouse. It’s only a fail for the alcoholic loser who would come in drunk to pay their fine.

A

15. Kristy says:

Why? At this point wouldn’t you have your license revoked, and thusly be either driven by someone else or using public transportation or taking a cab?

• ¡Great Scott! Me transmitte sursum, caledoni says:

Please don’t cloud the issue with logic.

• RedHeadedStepChild says:

Because DUI or not, they can still arrest you for public intoxication. Especially since it’s usually illegal to have any type of alcohol or drugs around a government building.

• Kristy says:

Can one have alcohol on the breath without being intoxicated?

• RedHeadedStepChild says:

Of course, but every US state that I am aware of has a zero tolerance policy for even a drop. It’s the same kind of crap as many other laws and loopholes they have. Another is that you can be ticketed for having an open container if you have a 6-pack or 12 pack container that is missing a beer. The container can then be considered “open” in the vehicle. (Unless it’s in the trunk. Why do you think they say to never look in the trunk? You can put anything back there and they need a warrant or very good reason to open it.)

• Jaysen says:

Too true, I got busted when I had a 6 pack with three beers in it. It was in my back seat because I have Subs in my trunk. Cop was very happy to hand me that ticket. The beer was from two nights before and it was 10 in the morning. Oink oink

16. Y2K says:

hahah if you think thats funny check this out

17. Pat says:

Well, I guess it’d be OK if you didn’t drive to drop off the fine.

18. ima mojO !!!1!!1! says:

That’s a good idea!

19. hiiiiiiiiii says:

42nd!

20. Chris says:

Also, a DUI summons is not an acceptable form of identification when attempting to buy liquor.

21. Samuel L. Bronkowitz says:

This is a total win–glad to see somebody in a courthouse has a sense of humor.

22. Someone Else says:

ORLY NAO?

23. that one says:

it was mouthwash

24. Bruce says:

They would need that sign in Shelbyville.

SPRINGFIELD RULES!

25. R. Madigan says:

Was this picture taken in New Mexico?

26. mojO - hey, w00ts wrong with you? says:

:sing:

27. bootnab says:

This seems like a prime candidate for passive agressive notes.(cron)

28. KumaTenshi says:

Wouldn’t this be more of a win?? I mean, people ~obviously~ do that a lot, and I would imagine to get to the station, most people would have to drive…..so if they’re driving after drinking, in order to pay a fine for already driving while drinking…..

29. Jerasphere says:

I agree that it is an WIN for the humor of the staff
FAIL because they actually had to post it!
Personally, I was NOT there for a DUI related incident
