  1. Spookie Pie says:

    First :D

  2. Pepsi Plunge says:

    That was fun!

  3. Doubter says:

Haha! His head sounded like a coconut!

  4. DyDevil says:

    empty?

  5. Merson says:

Umm, aren’t there about 10 lines already in the parking lot? I wonder why they had to make a new line.

    • butler says:

Wait, isn’t that that the video is about? The cop fails for having to make a new line when there are so many already available?

      • Caghs says:

If you notice, he’s making the line ACROSS the existing lines at a diagonal.

If you’re sober, this is generally not an issue. Your brain will be able to follow the line you’re on. But if you’re drunk, the off-kilter lines to the side will affect your ability to walk a straight line (in addition to the alcohol in your system messing with your balance, that is)

    • sjerrie says:

becuz the actual test is not WALKING the line, but makin it, stupid ;P

      this guy obviously failed

      • kenga333 says:

        Maybe WIN.
Some states invalidate field sobriety tests if you injure your head during the interaction with police, and in some cases, if you do, they must take you for medical care instead of continuing to try to bust you for DUI. For instance, use the expensive machine *after* the suspect has failed to walk a line – can’t after faceplant.
Though, I suspect you have to do it on purpose to be WIN.

    • Bio says:

      Piggies, thats why

    • jamisings says:

Probably there’s markings or something on there that helps a police officer tell how off someone is.

I believe I saw this one on World’s Dumbest. If it’s the same one it went on and on, proving him drunker then advertised here.

  6. Taquelli says:

Why did the cop even need to make a line, he was standing in a parking lot? It comes with lines. Guess it’s a complicity thing.

    • satanasko says:

what would happen if the one that made the parking lot’s lines was drunk when he made ‘em ? some jerk might have cracked his head after the policeman let’s him go :D

  7. Aaaaargh says:

I’m just curious, did that guy pass the line-test or not? Now I only know half the story.

And yes, double fail trying to make a line at a parking lot. :P

    • Miss Fit says:

Dude, the guy fell face-down on the ground. What do you think the cop said? “Oh well, you’re too drunk to even stand up right, but as I apparently fail even harder in creating more parking space, I’ll let this one pass. You can go now, buddy. But be careful on your way home, eh. It’s slippery.”

Read Caghs’ comment above about the cop’s so-called “fail”.

  8. geor says:

we need to make a straight line right hera

  9. CentaX says:

WHERE’S THE FAV COMMENT IN THE VIDEO? End of the world! oÔ

    • Avis says:

Sweetie, they don’t do that for Friday Rewinds. Or, at least they won’t until they run out of all the old vids that don’t have ‘em.

  10. Ashmead says:

    Asphalt brutality!

    • ben says:

isnt anyone else seeing the irony of this video? the officer asks the guy to hold thetape to make a line…. theres lines all over the parking lot (parking spaces) lmfao

  11. zakami says:

    OOH Found a Penny

  12. Keksus says:

    Double the fail, double fun

  13. Raul says:

Hey! How does the asphalt tastes?

  14. Jrtje says:

the cop is actually the biggest fail as he wants to make his own line while he can just ask the drunk dude to follow one of the white lines on the parking lot :p

  15. Someone says:

Perhaps the whole test was simply to see if the drunk guy could correctly make the line. After all, this video proves it’s a very effective method!

(yeah, I know he should’ve just used one of the existing lines)

  16. CrazyNewt says:

Yeah. There’s more to it than just trying to make a line. Plus, by making your own line in a way that follows police codes, there is less chance that it can be argued in court (“I didn’t know what he meant by parking lot line!”).

Not to mention that it can catch things exactly like this – you can watch the person doing a task while he’s not aware he’s being watched (he thinks the cop is busy on his end).

What surprises me is that the cop doesn’t immediately try to help the guy. I mean, geez. He just smacked his head on the pavement!

    • Darklady63 says:

It may very well be that regulations require a certain distance. In my work, I’m supposed to measure out 13 feet (and what idiot came up with that?! Oh, yeah, a bureaucrat) and have someone walk it, timing how long it takes, gait, balance, etc. My subjects are elders, not drunks, and fortunately I haven’t had someone faceplant.

And, watching the cop, you can see he doesn’t take his eyes off the drunk.

And yes, his delay in helping is concerning. I wonder what his superiors thought on reviewing the tape…imagine, three days later, the guy is in a trauma unit, decerebrate posture, and they start casting about for the cause of his brain injury. Oops!

Even barring that, well, geez…. ouch!

  17. If you thought that was funny check out, “The consequence of being drunk on New Years” at Randomremark.com

  18. Kiwi-OD says:

    Fall Blog! (I know.. again..)

  19. Jon; says:

    *headdeskground*

  20. Something___Eat_My_Os says:

    Uhh wow…lol what a dick…….

  21. Bleau says:

    What a waste of tape.

  22. Fiete says:

why dont they use the lines on the floor ?
    thats not drunken fail.. ^^

  23. FP says:

He would have failed the line test anyway.

  24. Aovivo says:

ow crazy!!!This man drank little ..

  25. iloveyes says:

    Happy birthday to the GROUND!!!!!!

  26. noway says:

I was thinking that this is the perfect drunk driving defense!
That guy can’t walk the straight line or do any of the physical tests because he’s now totally disoriented from the stupid test that the cop made him do

  27. 5 SMow Eagles says:

I think he failed and the Police officer winned.

  28. banner74 says:

    Going,going,he is gone!!!Lol!!

  29. I_am_Scatman says:

why make a line when your in a parking lot full of white lines?

  30. gime says:

the police should just switch to breathalyzers, geeez

  31. me says:

lol he didn’t fail he put his nose right on the line lol… o wait hand nose, feet straight line jk…hehe

  32. he fell in a straight line

  33. whitesburg says:

Did the guy need to finish the test after that? If it was me (the cop) I would think he failed the test with flying colors

    • Caghs says:

At the end, he speaks into the radio, saying “something something DUI”

I can’t catch what the first two words are, but he does say DUI.

Therefore, it’s my guess that he didn’t need to finish the test, no :)

  34. Joanie says:

I feel like it was a cop fail too because there were parking lot lines all over the place…

  35. Andrea M says:

Oh, we’ve all been there. The trick is to find somebody to drive you home, lol. One of the many reasons I love not owning a car.

  36. Ardise says:

    I found something!!

  37. AllYourFailAreBelongToUs says:

    facepalm wasnt enough for him

  38. NamelessBastard says:

I had a moment like that myself, no cop, only a bruised nose.

  39. corbin the first says:

    aaaaaaaaAAAAAAAND IT’S GOOD!!!

  40. cucuforu says:

the placement of the tape is a key ingredient to the drunk test. cops like to spice things up sometimes

  41. cucuforu says:

hey….is there something on my face? Oh yeah….the GROUND

  42. nz3rdsqr says:

i don’t know if anyone has noticed this but the cop fails too. the are plenty of good lines on the ground.

  43. Jennifer says:

I bet there was alot of this last night.

  44. polishguy says:

Haha, come to Poland. It’s normal and common here, almost everyday thing :P

  45. wonder says:

I wonder why American cops do this. Over here you’ll ALWAYS get alcotested…I mean those things aren’t that expensive anymore, are they…

  46. jorritio says:

to all the idiots that keep saying that he should have used the existing lines of the parking garage,

Read this, the 19th comment by caghs:

If you notice, he’s making the line ACROSS the existing lines at a diagonal.

If you’re sober, this is generally not an issue. Your brain will be able to follow the line you’re on. But if you’re drunk, the off-kilter lines to the side will affect your ability to walk a straight line (in addition to the alcohol in your system messing with your balance, that is).

    Icanhasaphalt burger?

    • Caghs says:

Thank you *hands you a pack of M&M’s in gratitude*

      • Caghs says:

There was also a sensible comment by CrazyNewt:

“Not to mention that it can catch things exactly like this – you can watch the person doing a task while he’s not aware he’s being watched (he thinks the cop is busy on his end).”

  47. Brian says:

I think the officer is drunk. There’s about 54478687674786844866844863 lines already in the freken parking lot!!!!!!!!!!!! couldn’t he pick one?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  48. Eidolon says:

Is there something that prevents dolts from reading previous posts and finding out that there is actually a reason that the officer made a diagonal line?

    • Caghs says:

That would require effort, I guess. Much better to just make a comment identical to the dozens before, rather than actually read through *sigh*

Besides, ridiculing others seems to make people feel better ;)

      *hands you M&M’s*

  49. Roni:D says:

I don’t think that the guy was okay after that, I mean, did you hear that sound which his head made when he hit the ground: /?, This one is not funny.

  50. asd says:

Dunno what’s the bigger fail, the guy falling, or the policeman that has to make a white straight line on a parking lot FULL OF STRAIGHT LINES.

    • jorritio says:

read the frikking previous posts, and it could be part of the test: if the guy wasnt drunk, he should have noticed it too.

…. but you still need to read the previous posts

  51. roomwithamoo says:

LOL. All drunk drivers should have their noses broken. Theyd prob be more scared of that than accidentally killing someone.

  52. axeholes says:

After all the submissions sent to FAILBLOG, I can’t believe they choose to post up old, outdated videos such as these (though still funny). This video was popular years ago.
Whoever chooses the videos posted to this site needs to get with the power-curve and choose more ‘brand new’ clips…seriously.

    • schrodinger's lolcat says:

notice the caption friday “rewind”. It’s an homage to classic fails of the past. Therefore the fail belongs to you for failing to read. Don’t worry though, it happens to the best of us.

      • axeholes says:

True. But at least rewind something better than that. There’s tons of new footage out there, so why do a rewind. Why not put the “Paranoid Prairie” dog clip up again while at it…just a thought.

  53. schrodinger's lolcat says:

I know I’m a little late here, but to answer a couple of points.
First of all, the tape allows a standard line length that is admitable in court, along with the other obvious effects.
Second, as far as going straight to the breathalyzer, U.S. laws require probable cause (such as the field sobriety test) before acquiring ‘physical’ evidence, otherwise it would be thrown out of court. This also takes care of those that aren’t drunk, but otherwise are unfit to drive, as a drowsy driver might exhibit.
And third, it’s just too funny to watch at the police station.

    • Caghs says:

*hands you the last of her M&M’s*

      • Caghs says:

The breath-test law is a little different here in Australia, just for conversation’s sake. Taking a breath-test is standard practice, and is actually done on a regular and random basis. As a matter of fact, they often have random breath tests of every second or third car on a Friday and Saturday night, and on special occasions where drinking is more probable (such as public holidays, sports events like the Melbourne Cup, etc).

It is, in fact, rare to see any of the sobriety tests that are common in America :)

    • axeholes says:

It’s not that funny. I’ve seen better.

  54. firefox345 says:

that is just failing like saying: cop:can you say the ABC’S drunk driver:witch way do u want it bakwards or forwards ……if u ask witch way u want it u allready failed

  55. jorritio says:

    left feet on red,
    right hand on green,
    head on white line

    twisted isnt it?

  56. icewolf946 says:

FOR CRYING OUT LOUD U BI*** WHO SAY THE COP FAILED READ CAGHS 19TH COMMENT

    • Miss Fit says:

Don’t you find it funny that people call both the drunk guy and the cop stupid and subsequently fail just as hard as the drunk guy with their “selective reading” (let’s just call it that way, you know how quickly offended people are nowadays).

  57. Mille says:

How did the cop not fall over laughing?

  58. jackybo! says:

    omg, did he die???

  59. Nicole says:

haha I just saw this on World’s Dumbest Criminals

  60. Åge says:

The funny thing is he wont remember this in the morning.

  61. Weeee says:

The most thing about the vid is not the dude crashing his head hard is that the freakin cop needed to make a nother line when there where like 4 already on the flooor.

    LOOLZ to the cop.

  62. bri says:

well, i hope i wasn’t the only one 2 notice, but there are 2 fails in that video! doesn’t the police officer realize that he is in a parking lot full of lines? lol, he’s just wastin s tape!

    • Caghs says:

      Reading previous comments fail.

Not only did about a million people already say this, there has also been a handful of comments pointing out WHY the cop made a new line.

  63. Did anyone notice at the end before the video fades black that the guy said “I love you.” XDDDD

  64. Doctor F. says:

    Ouch.

    But also haha.

  65. Krev says:

so whats the fail? the drunk for falling? or the cop for making a line in a parking lot full of lines?

    • Zephyius says:

I was gonna say the exact same thing lol.

    • McBee says:

      You self-centered dolt.
You don’t read other people’s comments, do you?
For you it’s all about “Read mine” Read mine! Oh, I’m so smart!” and off you prance…
For punishment: Count how many times other people have said the same, and how many times other-other people have explained them why.

  66. Ghostwish says:

    All these posts…

All these complaints about lines on the ground..

.. and I am the only one who knows this video is old? I mean, seriously, this has been drifting around on the web forever..

*peers* Made in 2006. I’d say it’s been on the web since then too.

  67. OMG, that had to hurt, well after he sobered up that is :P

  68. Mike says:

I feel concussed just watching that video!

  69. Melissa says:

I think the officer was perfectly aware of the parking stripes…he directs the drunk guy to stand directly on one, shining his flashlight beam on it at the top of the video. I agree with the idea that the skewed lines are going to mess the drunk the guy up further. The fail is totally in the guy falling on his face.

  70. cowboykirk says:

i wondered why my head hurt

  71. click clack says:

i love how the cop just walks slowly over there and looks at him haha

  72. Pure Awesomeness says:

    Lol…

  73. jaws2771 says:

its a fail for the cop 2. theres already a bunch of lines. its a parking lot.

  74. Chris says:

both have epically failed, the drunk, for faceplanting, and the cop for not realising there is already a line on the road!

  75. God says:

jaws2771 Chris are both pilots on the fail plane because they don’t bother to read the comments.

I swear to god if one more douche says the cop was stupid because there were already lines shows that there IQ is 9.

  76. seth says:

just a feeling … couldn’t the cop use the parking line? … :)
    cop fail

  77. Josh says:

why is the cop taping a line there are lines in the parking lot

  78. Pyke says:

    This is really dumb….

If I was arguing this in court (which, as I’ve not yet taken the bar, I’m unlikely to be doing today), I’d point out that my client simply fell over from the motion of leaning to put the tape down. After that he hit his head, causing a possible concussion and it’s impossible to say with any certainty how he would have done on the test.

  79. Liam says:

Okay I’ve seen this video countless times and I’m still having trouble discerning which action here is the largest fail…the guy falling on his face? or the cop being stupid enough to use the tape when there are hundreds of lines in the very parking lot he finds himself in.

  80. TinCanOnAString says:

    First!!!!!!1!!!!11!!!1

I can’t believe it! I never get to be first. This is awesome.
