» 150 Failures in Communication

  1. rydash says:

Is it a fail? Or is it a new reason to glaze over some content?

  2. Laos says:

Of course its a fail, the movie sucks.

  3. Mokkori says:

Hi, Failblog? If you need money, just tell us, we’ll send some. It’s depressing to see you degrade yourselves in this fashion. It’s like finding out your sister posed for nude pics to pay for college.

And by that I mean I checked out the whole thing intently even though I was sure I wasn’t going to like it.

  4. Gr3yN3k0 says:

    Do not want.

  5. Madeline says:

    I feel strangely disappointed :-(

  6. rydash says:

Huh. Maybe FailBLOG is trying for negative press. Maybe that earns them more money.

I mean, come on. The sudden thrust of “NEW SHIRT!” things receive fairly low thumb votes as they break the flow of FAIL.

  7. Paragon says:

Michael Cera sucks. Acting Fail. He’s the same character over and over.

  8. roast says:

hey Cera, stop making a million gay movies and get on board with the Arrested Development movie before the whole world turns on you. Seriously.

  9. adfail says:

About as bad as those flying-carpet ads that show up out of nowhere.
Marketing people are the scum of the earth. Too bad for them I have flashblock installed LOL.

  10. Poonis says:

    Failblog.

If I wanted to see movie trailers, I would go to a movie review blog.

    This is irrelevant to failblog.

    Failblog has failed.

  11. Dirk says:

    This movie sucks!

And you doing the promotion for it does not make it better.

  12. chephy says:

    Failblog post FAIL.

  13. donfox says:

Definitely a movie fail but also an ominous fail of failblog becoming more commercial.

  14. Max Headroom says:

Oh, woe is me! (dramatically fainting on the divan) God forbid some one should want to make a little money.
You whiners need to get a life.

  15. Laughing Gnome says:

Did anyone else notice that it comes out on David Bowie’s birthday and that they use the Bowie song Rebel Rebel?
I’m not sure how I feel about this…

  16. tyberius says:

So Failblog puts up an ad post (clearly indicated in the title), requiring you to scroll through an additional ~400 vertical pixels of screen space to get to the content you love. Or you could just click on the little (X) button, and maybe visit some other funny-picture-bloggy-site that doesn’t put up ad posts. But oh no, you can’t have that! No, you CLICK on said ad post, WATCH the trailer, and then you SCROLL to the comment box just so you could whine about it. You people fail.

  17. Halned says:

    This post fails.

  18. Jimmy says:

No, it is a fail. See that ‘coming soon to cinemas near you’ line? Well, I live in England. Think I could complain about false advertising? They may take it down.

  19. Luciano says:

    Oh…people whining…that’s so WIN!
You complainers should make and maintain ($$$) your own blog…
    @tyberius, I totally agree…

  20. jubrock says:

yes its a fail, but i don’t agree with half of you whiney buggers out there. it’s wrong to put it in the category where traditional fails go. but not wrong to put it on the site. maybe next time oh webmaster, stick it it a category titled “gratuitous money making ads” so i don’t get all excited when i check my inbox

    • jubrock says:

oh, and if any of you grammar nazi’s out there want to check me on my diction, spelling, punctuation. you’re wasting your time.
go back to checking the stock price on krispy kreme

      • mPaixao says:

Normally i don’t comment.. but you miss-used “,” in your phrase..

“oh, and if any of you grammar nazi’s out there want to check me on my diction, spelling, punctuation.”

        Should have written:

oh, and if any of you grammar nazi’s out there want to check me on my diction, spelling AND punctuation.

        • Grammar Police says:

Um, technically, it should be “grammar nazis”, shouldn’t it? The apostrophe makes it possessive.

That, and the first part (“oh, and if…”) is a sentence fragment. Put in a comma after “punctuation” and it magically becomes a subordinate clause.

      • RolfPwn says:

        haha you got pwnd

  21. flip says:

    ADVERT FAIL.

Keep it up FB and you’ll become a parody of yourself.

  22. CindiK says:

Best part of this advertisement? It had another advertisement at the end. It’s like a little lump of crap on a pile of manure.

  23. Wes says:

All the haters can eat it. This was made from one of the best books ever written. If the movie sucks (which after seeing the unrated trailer, I don’t think that will be the case), do yourself a favor and read the book.

  24. Bill says:

If it had been a trailer for battlefield earth, then it would have been appropriate.

Seriously though, this blog is for things that fail. If you put your movie in with it you are telling us that it fails and that we should not see it. That may not have been the intent of the producers.

  25. asdf says:

    failblog fail

  26. Mr.A says:

    I guess I fail… I liked the trailer.
It felt like someone had made a film about me and the twisted things that go on in my mind.

If I can remember, I’ll see it when it comes out, otherwise download it once someone puts it up on Rapidshare. ;)

    • campofclay says:

Please to note: at least a modicum of comments should be read to keep the poster from looking like an ignoramus.

      Thank you

  27. Hellhound says:

    Agreed, you fail.

  28. floob says:

    *raspberry*

  29. BAReFOOt says:

Hey, from now on, Failblog has its name not because of the fail that you see on it, but because of the fail that it is itself.

    WTF? Ads on *my* failblog?
You know that it’s only two clicks to delete you out of my RSS feed folder, do you?

  30. tapieromateo says:

    totally agree with Mokkori

  31. Bill says:

would have been better if failblog had intro’d it with ‘shameless plug’ – then i would have digested this a little better :D

  32. Whytie says:

Gonna have to avoid that movie now out of spite.

  33. bajs says:

OMG what a original and inovative movie.

  34. Shalindria says:

It is informative to me. I notice that failblog is advertising a movie, I click to watch, I see that Michael Cera’s character is a fail. Makes sense to me.

  35. Wookie says:

so the bills have to be paid, or profits to be made? hmmmm

  36. Screen says:

By the way this movie is also known as “Fight Club – Preschool Edition”

  37. Mr. Gerbz says:

Why he still gets to play in movies is beyond me… But the subject of the movie seems pretty interesting, albeit not cinema-worthy, rather download-worthy.

  38. The Eric says:

1 and 1/2 thumbs? This must be terrible!

  39. ironychan says:

I’d say this movie counts as a Fail.

  40. Youguessedit says:

FAIL!… I’ll look at your ads, but will click off when I think I am being tricked!

  41. Sxualpanda says:

What the hell!? Blatant advertisement of crappy movies in between our fails? This is a self-fail on failblogs part, remove the crummy trailer if you appreciate your community you ninnies.

  42. Wetpixels says:

When is Failblog going to realize we don’t like ads?

  43. Paul says:

Wait, why is Youth In Revolt sponsoring the post for an ad of Youth In Revolt.

  44. Evil says:

No I’m sorry but this is inappropriate. Ads that appear in addition to the content are tolerable, but ads that replace the content are bullshit. I read enough blogs every day to not want to waste time in that manner. This should never happen again.

  45. Katherine says:

I already have to deal with all the ads AROUND the site, I’d like to keep them out of the middle of the page.

  46. purplehumpbackwhale says:

its amazing how many people have said “this movie sucks” considering it isnt out yet.

i saw it in july and it was very good.

  47. brad says:

    Fight Club, anyone?

  48. Phoebe says:

Lol. I guess you guys haven’t noticed the crap ton of advertisements already piled up all over fail blog. It was only a matter of time before it leaked out into the content section.

  49. Caghs says:

Ads in their proper place are fine. Say, in the sidebar, or that annoying bar at the top.

The complaint is that it’s in the main part of the page, not in advertising space.

I notice no complaints about the $6 tees, for example … because they’re in the ad space.

    • campofclay says:

Your effort is awesome, but albeit a bit misplaced: you may notice that while perusing through the lolcats or any of the others there are the same ads on the sides in the same place as the pics. Making your statement void.

Allow me to correct, if you don’t take offense: Ads should be placed on the side as most advertising is done on the net and not made a part of the content the person is viewing. Doing so can cause an interruption in the life and well being of your website.

  50. matt says:

    8. january is my b-day:D

  51. C says:

Yes because I want to see a movie where Micheal Cera acts the same as EVERY OTHER ROLE HE’S BEEN IN.

  52. rickybobby says:

The book sucked the sweat off a dead man’s nuts. Worst book EVAH!

  53. shoeman12 says:

The only Fail is FAIL Blog posting a paid advertisement as an entry.

  54. shoeman12 says:

Take not of the negative response…

  55. Thomas says:

Thank God for as blocking software.

  56. Thomas says:

Thank God for ad blocking software.

  57. DeezNutz says:

And….F-blog just jumped the shark. Goodbye.

  58. wahnula says:

    Marketing meeting:

    Ben Huh:

“I can place your trailer in front of millions of 18-25yo males by disguising it as a post, defeating common AdBlock software. They will watch the WHOLE thing, because, being FailBlog fans, they are always waiting for the fail. The fact that it doesn’t come is minor, by that point we’ve already got them. They will see the movie because I’ve made it look hip.”

    Marketing rep:

“But we’re giving away all the punchlines and sight gags.”

    Ben Huh:

“So what? They’ll be even funnier the second time”.

    Marketing rep:

“OK Ben, here’s $XXXXXXXXXX, make it happen. You’re a genius”.

  59. Curty says:

(to the tune of westminster chimes) lame lame lame lame… lame lame lame lame…. lame….. lame….. lame

  60. ikiru2009 says:

..and I already hated the ads on the left & right & at the top more than enough….

I’ll be off when we’re being exposed to more of this stuff…not that anybody would care…

  61. Psycho-Tic says:

    Movie looks soooooo gay!

  62. Jawwad Riaz says:

well .. these guys have brought me enough laughs for me to allow them shove one silly ad down my throat .. and I was still laughing .. at the trailer. This movie is pathetic :)

This is probably the first time they’ve made money posting a very relevant video to the site. Thumbs up :)

    • campofclay says:

Well, thumbs up cause they got me to look. Thumbs down cause it’s not part of the original content. I’ll personally let it pass this time, but screw me once, shame on you.

  63. Winni-Pig says:

I really liked Cera in Arrested Development and Juno. There was something undeveloped about him that made his character seem very real.

But this and last few films before it….are these really the sort of roles he wants to play? I am disappointed. Better to go back to school or do something else completely if these are the only roles he is being offered.

I am alone in my office and was embarrassed to have the trailer running!

I think it is totally appropos that this film trailer be on failblog. Cera needs to wake up and realize that a willingness to participate in vulgarity and the ability to swear can only take an actor so far.

  64. xSenshix says:

I like that movie where Micheal V era plays an awkward teenager. What was it called?

  65. xSenshix says:

    **Cera

  66. jm says:

Having seen it almost a year ago in a pre-release screener, I can say that Youth in Revolt is a HUGE FAIL. Cera was better in Year One – and that was a catastrophic FAIL in it’s own right. Save your bucks.

  67. Justme says:

    WTF Failblog, no…really, wtf??

  68. J-Money says:

    fail fail

  69. Mad_Hatteress says:

    Dear Failblog,
Although I usually enjoy viewing content on this website, today I was greatly disappointed. First, a “sponsored” video clip, on top of the seven second advertisement now at the start of many of your clips. I am deeply troubled by your need to become a cash grabbing cow, Failblog.
Secondly, a clip for a movie that is essentially a teenage Fight Club? Lame. There is one movie I definitely won’t be seeing.
    With regards,
    The lady of the Hat.

  70. Chris says:

    Wow, so many dense people.
The whole movie is about a failure. Watch it, it’s great watching the kid fail at almost everything.

  71. pipe says:

    i want my money back!!!

  72. Shimra says:

Ok….idk how this is a fail cause I saw this movie -yes i know it hasnt come out yet, i go to an art school and there was a film festival held here so we got to see it for free- and its an EPIC WIN!

  73. Stephen C. says:

Hey Fight Clu- oh wait, its a knock off

  74. FailBlogFailedHard says:

yeah, because I’m totally not going to just adblock that hideous background..

  75. Andrew Ong says:

Manhunt win. That guy made the approach from the wrong dimension. That movie certainly gets the adult R rating.
(Yep, he gets owned for what he deserves. He is of course on the wanted list.)
    {Judge: Young boy, you are formally convicted with raping women and possessing illegal cannabis. As you are on the wanted list for some time now, you will serve life imprisonment. Case closed.}

  76. did failblog just fail themselves by posting this?
