As many of your devoted viewers have already pointed out, O FailBlog, The Darwin award is generally only bestowed, or even nominated, to those persons whom have successfully eliminated themselves from the breeding population (ie: death, or injury resulting in sterilization).

So really, until proof of this stipulation has been presented, none of these very fine examples of humanity deserve to even be considered for the award.

Everyone knows that you can only win a Darwin award if you die or cannot reproduce. That’s not the point. The obvious intent of this post was to say that all three of these people are doing things that could easily result in their death. Which do you think is the most likely to get a Darwin award by offing themselves via the method shown in the pictures.

My vote is #3. One way or another that guys cigarettes are going to kill him. He’s just trying to find a more creative way to make it happen.

When I was 19, I had a job which (among many other things) required me to ride atop a large trailer full of scrap paper spread-eagle and face-down, like a flying squirrel after a bad fall. This was supposed to prevent some of the paper from blowing out onto the highway as the truck and trailer made its way to the dump.

One day, as I was flying down the highway, I read a newspaper obituary lying an inch from my eye and learned of the death of a friend.

The guy with the mattress wins for epic safety fail, in my opinion. As has been stated, the first and thrid pictures are no where near as dangerous. In the first, unless he’s driving into a hurricane, the wind is not likely to be strong enough to cause a problem. In the thrid picture, well, the Mythbusters have proven that blowing up gasolene takes more than just a hot ember from a cigarette (unless you are epicly unlucky), so the chances of him starting a fire are very slim. The second person… riding unrestrained on top of two mattresses in traffic… is so unsafe that unless he’s an adrenaline junkie I can’t see any sane Human Being agreeing to do it (reguardless of the truck’s speed). Those are my two cents.
