If this had been a “man’s sport”, e.g., football or basketball or even baseball, even, they would have been penalized for personal fouls. Yanking on a ponytail to cause a neck injury is no different than a facemask violation in football. But because they’re *girls* we’re not supposed to be “mean” to them and call foul and kick them out of the game.

The refs need to be suspended. The players kicked out of the game and suspended. The coaches need to be fined.

Coach Urban Meyer was fined $30K for *implying* that the refs are blind. These soccer coaches, if they are teaching and tolerating their players unsportsmanlike behavior need to be fined 10x as much, to get their attention.

I condone this … lol being a soccer player myself i know how these can get and these cougars were being major c**ts. The news doesn’t show that of course. lucky that’s all they got. it is ridiculous that UNM expelled her anyways. im a student that goes to UNM and this girl doesn’t make me feel shame for going there. what makes me mad is the school actions of her expulsion. They keep a football coach that doesn’t win them any games then gets mad and punches out his assistant but a girl lets her emotions get the best of her in a game and they expel her.

I just like that the coaches let her get involved in this many scuffles, nevermind the refs. If they were actually responsible, like the coaches suspending her now, they would’ve taken her out right away after the first or second infraction. But, deep down inside everyone knows this is badass. There are so many cheap shots in soccer and fake falls, it’s sort of gratifying for someone to “woman” up and beat some ass. Obviously, it’s not the way the sport was meant to be played, but it wasn’t supposed to be prissy or rank with coaxed fouls by elbows to the chest or kicks the the shin away from officials, etc, etc, etc… I like how the BYU chicks don’t get it either. “Look at the score board!” I seriously doubt it was about winning at that point. Stop being prissy and play the game, and if you try to get hard with some chicks from New Mexico: see what happens.
